The pst hlder must prvide evidence f current NMC registratin. The pst hlder will be expected t demnstrate a cmmitment t learning and develpment 1. OVERALL OBJECTIVE OF JOB ROLE The Staff Nurse is accuntable t the Ward Sister fr the delivery f high quality care t the patients at Hly Crss Hspital. The pst hlder is respnsible fr ensuring attainment f agreed clinical standards and prfessinal develpment supprted by clleagues and the Directr f Clinical Services. 2. MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 2.1. Clinical Delivering expert nursing care, mnitring and maintaining standards f care. Onging infrmal and frmal assessment f patients in rder t prvide the mst beneficial care t peple with cmplex disabilities Identify and act n changes in patient cnditin, making safe, timely decisins apprpriate t the situatin. Wrk with patients, the multi-disciplinary team and families t set realistic and achievable gals Plan and prvide care interventins fr patients in line with the needs and gals f the patient.
2 Prvide supprt t relatives keeping them infrmed as far as pssible in line with patient cnfidentiality plicy. Maintain up t date case recrds and care plans maintaining patient cnfidentiality in line with Hly Crss plicy. Prvide apprpriate and timely reprts and ther patient crrespndence. Attend all relevant team meetings and case reviews. Ensure medicines are managed in accrdance with hspital and natinal standards Management and leadership Peple management Wrk with clleagues t prvide supprt t all ward staff. Cntribute t raising the prfile and develping the nursing team by: Recgnising and valuing cntributins frm individuals within the ward team Acknwledging equal pprtunities fr all team members Prviding clinical supprt Wrking with team t define clear individual rles and respnsibilities Cntributing t multi-disciplinary team building within Hly Crss Human resurces Cntribute t the inductin f new staff acting as a mentr when apprpriate Service develpment and resurce cntrl Cntribute t the planning, setting, reviewing f nursing team bjectives and prjects in line with hspital business plan. Assist in the evaluatin f achievements against bjectives Cmmunicatin The pst hlder will ensure: All written dcumentatin is legible, accurate and meets hspital recrd-keeping standards Written r verbal infrmatin is clear, accurate and presented in a way that is apprpriate t the target grup

Organisatinal audit and quality Participate in clinical audit and quality assurance initiatives. Deal with cmplaints prmptly and sensitively in line with hspital cmplaints plicy. Identify audit needs and plan audit in liaisn with Clinical Gvernance team Legislative requirements Adhere t requirements by: Implementing and reviewing plicies and prcedures ensuring cmpliance f neself and clleagues Implementing Heath and Safety plicies and prcedures ensuring cmpliance f neself and clleagues 3. PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT Delivery f teaching t ther members f clinical staff. Participate in in-service training and feedback n curses attended. Take respnsibility fr wn prfessinal develpment. Be cmmitted t further develpment f wn clinical skills and knwledge actively seeking learning pprtunities as apprpriate. 4. HEALTH & SAFETY: Wrk at all times within the scpe f the Health and Safety at Wrk Act f 1974 and the hspital plicy fr reprting f accidents, incidents, hazards and risk management. Maintain and prtect the safety, cnfidentiality and dignity f patients and families. Manage a clean, safe and tidy ward envirnment. Ensure prgrammes in place fr the cleaning and maintenance f equipment. Take an active rle in the preventin and cntrl f infectin.
4 Understand and wrk within the guidelines f the Patient Safety, Medicines and Healthcare Prducts Regulatry Agency. 5. GENERAL: Maintain the principles f the Data Prtectin Act f 1998 bth within and utside f the hspital envirnment. Act in accrdance with the hspital s Data Prtectin Plicy. Mnitr the use f stck items, rdering stck as necessary. Be aware f the Equal Opprtunities Act and hw it is implemented within Hly Crss Hspital.
