1 Master f Speech Pathlgy PURPOSE AQF LEVEL AQF LEVEL 9 CRITERIA MASTERS DEGREE (COURSEWORK) PROGRAM LEARNING OUTCOMES The Masters Degree (Cursewrk) qualifies individuals wh apply an advanced bdy f knwledge in a range f cntexts fr prfessinal practice r schlarship and as a pathway fr further learning. KNOWLEDGE Graduates f a Masters Degree (Cursewrk) will have: a bdy f knwledge that includes the understanding f recent develpments in a discipline and/r area f prfessinal practice knwledge f research principles and methds applicable t a field f wrk and r learning The Master f Speech Pathlgy is a prfessinal preparatin prgram that teaches and assesses established and emerging knwledge, skills, and attributes required fr Entry-level practice in speech pathlgy in Australia, as determined by Speech Pathlgy Australia. Graduates must meet seven essential ccupatinal cmpetencies (as described in the Cmpetency-based Occupatinal Standards, 2011), and fur essential generic prfessinal cmpetencies (as described in the natinal COMPASS assessment tl). Graduates f the Master f Speech Pathlgy will have in-depth entry-level knwledge f: the six range f practice areas f: speech, language, vice, fluency, swallwing, and multimdal cmmunicatin within the cntext f health and educatin settings cmmunicatin and swallwing acrss the lifespan and the impact that impairment has n the individual and their cntext under The Internatinal Classificatin f Functining, Disability, and Health (WHO, 2001) framewrk the sciences that underpin assessment, interpretatin, planning, and interventin with clients theries and research that underpin evidence-based management f clients, and their applicatin t management practices specific diagnstic and evaluative qualities f infrmal and frmal assessment tls and utcme measures hw t critically appraise the literature and frmulate research questins different research methdlgies t address questins relevant t cntemprary speech pathlgy practice and service mdels hw different research practices will advance the bdy f knwledge in speech pathlgy.
