5 PLENARY SESSION OR KEYNOTE SESSION SPONSOR Sponsorship of a plenary session or keynote session (maximum of three concurrent keynote streams) will align your organisation to the presentation content and provide a high level of exposure. Keynote sessions will focus exposure to those with high interest in specific sessions. Plenary Speaker $1500 (including GST) Concurrent Keynote $1100 (including GST) Confirmed Invited Speakers Opportunity to introduce and host one invited speaker Logo prominently displayed at the commencement and conclusion of the sponsored session (PowerPoint slide) Acknowledgement as a sponsor in the Conference Handbook One satchel insert Dave Brown, Artistic Director, Patch Theatre Company [Concurrent Keynote] Dave taught Chemistry and Biology for 7 years, Drama and English for 7 years, was founding Artistic Director of Jumbuck Youth Music Theatre for 7 years, Artistic Director of Patch Theatre Company for 7 years, an Arts Project Officer for Carclew Youth Arts Centre at the turn of the millennium before returning as Artistic Director of Patch Theatre Company for another 7 years. Professor Victoria Carrington [Concurrent Keynote] Victoria is Research SA Chair in the Centre for Literacy, Policy and Learning Cultures at the Hawke Institute for Sustainable Research at the University of South Australia. She writes extensively in the fields of sociology of literacy and education and has a particular interest in the impact of new digital media on literacy practices both in and out of school. Mr David Hornsby, La Trobe University, Australia [Concurrent Keynote] David has previously worked with the Victorian Ministry of Education (28 years) and has taught at every year level from Prep to Year 6. He also lectured at Melbourne University and the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology. David is currently working as a private education consultant in schools and lecturing in teacher education at La Trobe University. Professor Glynda Hull, University of California, USA [Plenary] Glynda s research examines digital technologies and new literacies; adult literacy and changing contexts and requirements for work; writing and students at-risk; and community/school/university partnerships. She is cofounder (with Michael James) of DUSTY (Digital Underground Storytelling for Youth), a community technology centre in Oakland, CA, where she designs and studies after-school enrichment programs on literacy and multimodal composing for children and adults. Mike Ladd [Concurrent Keynote] Mike s poetry is published widely in Australia. In 1980 he formed "The Drum Poets", a group of musicians who perform his poetry using conventional instruments, found objects and pre-recorded sounds. In the early 1980's Mike travelled in Europe and Africa. Mike is currently producer and presenter of the Radio National poetry program Poetica. Bronwyn McLeod [Concurrent Keynote] Bronwyn is the Director of Gateways Education where she works as an educational consultant throughout Australia and New Zealand, specialising in the fields of curriculum differentiation, gifted education, and online learning. Professor Jackie Marsh, University of Sheffield, UK [Plenary] Jackie teaches in the masters and doctoral literacy and language programmes and is a member of the course team for the MA Early Childhood Education. Her research is focused on the nature and role of popular culture, new technologies and the media in the literacy curriculum and in children s out-of-school practices. Jackie is an editor of the Journal of Early Childhood Literacy and President of the United Kingdom Literacy Association (UKLA). Dr Karen Martin, Queensland University of Technology, Australia [Concurrent Keynote] Karen is a Noonuccal, Quandamoopah woman from south-east Queensland. She has some 15 years teaching experience in all sectors of education from early childhood to compulsory schooling, adult education and higher education. Karen lectures in a compulsory Indigenous education subject and in sociological theories for teaching and education.
6 Dr Daniel Meadows, Cardiff University, UK [Plenary] Daniel has been described by the American commentator J.D. Lasica as "one of the icons of the Digital Storytelling movement". He is also recognised as a prime mover in the new documentary photography movement of 1970s Britain. Notable projects include his collaborations with Martin Parr: Butlin's by the Sea (1972) in Yorkshire, and a study of June Street (1973) in Salford. Professor Annette Patterson, Queensland University of Technology Australia [Concurrent Keynote] Annette supervises higher degree research students in the fields of English curriculum, literacy and reading and teaches subjects in the Master of Education literacy program. She is Managing Editor of the AER, a journal of the Australian Association of Research in Education and a member of the Editorial Review Board of the Journal of Adolescent and Adult Literacy. Professor Judith Rivalland [Concurrent Keynote] Judith is adjunct Professor of Language and Literacy at the Fogarty Learning Centre: Centre for the teaching and research of language and literacy, numeracy, science and curriculum studies. Her special interests are in literacy development, the effective teaching of early and primary literacy and literacy difficulties. Shaun Tan, Author and Illustrator [Plenary] Shaun began by specialising in science fiction and fantasy subjects, initially for magazines, newspapers and books. He soon became involved with picture books for older readers through his contact with young adult writers and publishers, and now most of his time is spent as a writer and illustrator working within this medium. He has also recently been involved with a number of theatre, film and animation projects, including work as a conceptual artist for Pixar. Special Forever: an environmental communications project Phil Cormack and Helen Nixon, University of SA, along with Ruth Pfeiler (R-12 Curriculum Adviser, Riverland District) and teachers and students involved in the Murray-Darling Basin Commission/PETA literacy initiative will jointly present an account of their learning through the Special Forever Project River Literacies. The recently published book Literacies in Place; teaching environmental communications, documents the shared stories from schools and regions in NSW, Victoria, ACT and SA, that embody literacy about something, situated somewhere. All of the primary educators involved in this practitioner inquiry made a commitment to rethink and extend the repertoires of multi-modal literacy they use with their students, as they explored issues relating to the sustainability of their own places and the Murray-Darling Basin as a whole.

The exhibition will be located in the main catering area and has been designed to ensure good visibility, access to all stands and to maximise foot traffic. The main catering stations for teas, lunches and social functions will be within metres of the exhibition area. It is anticipated that there will be approximately 800 delegates all eager to view new products and services as well as build relationships with current suppliers and corporate representatives. 10 APPLICATION PROCEDURES To apply for a sponsorship package or trade booth, please complete and return the form on the reverse of this page. A 50% deposit will be required to secure your package. The balance is payable by 31 March Alternatively, full payment can be made with the Application Form. A tax invoice will be provided. In the event you cancel your package, the organiser reserves the right to retain deposit monies received unless that particular package is resold. No refunds for cancellations will be made after 1 June TERMS AND CONDITIONS Attendance The organisers make no warranty as to the number of delegates and/or visitors that may attend the exhibition and/or associated Conference. Provision of Delegates details The provision of delegate contact details as specified in individual packages is subject to the provisions of the Privacy Act The Privacy Act 2001 provides that before name and address details can be published in the list of conference delegates for distribution to fellow delegates or any other party, delegates must give consent. Unavoidable Occurrences In the event that the Conference is cancelled or delayed through no fault of the Organiser, the venue or Conference Secretariat including but not limited to fire, flood, labour disputes, natural disasters, acts of God, civil disorders, riots, insurrections, work stoppages, slow downs or disputes, or other similar events then the exhibitor/sponsor shall not be entitled to any refund or claim for any loss or damage.
