Missin Statement The missin f Central Piedmnt Cmmunity Cllege in ffering a quality nline learning experience is t fster, supprt, and prmte excellence in teaching and learning in all nline envirnments by: prmting student engagement; encuraging innvative teaching and learning practices that meet the needs f a diverse student ppulatin; creating an academically rigrus and relevant learning envirnment; facilitating cllege wide cmmitment that supprts access, student develpment, student success, and academic gal cmpletin. Guiding Principles Our effrts will align with and supprt CPCC s strategic plan and advance ur institutinal pririties f quality, cmpletin, and student success. The elearning Department will facilitate effrts f cntinuus quality imprvement in all aspects f nline learning in cllabratin with academic deans, faculty, prfessinal staff, the Faculty Advisry Grup, and the Steering Cmmittee. Current and new nline prgrams r curse develpment must be intentinal and fllw stated quality standards and new prgram/curse develpment prcesses. Strng supprt frm CPCC faculty, administratrs, prfessinal staff and academic departments is essential in expanding effrts in nline learning. The prvisin f excellent and relevant services t bth faculty and students is at the heart f ur effrts t imprve. The elearning department, academic deans, faculty, prfessinal staff, the Faculty Advisry Grup, and the Steering Cmmittee will cllabrate clsely with Infrmatin Technlgy Services (ITS), prfessinal develpment, the instructinal develpers, and student services, wh as critical partners, prvide relevant services fr a quality nline learning experience. CPCC is cmmitted t creating a psitive envirnment that expands pprtunities and experiences fr all members f ur cmmunity, including persns with a disability. Analyzed data will be used t guide cntinuus quality imprvement. Assessment f curses, prgrams, and services will be n ging and systematic. While the wnership f the academic quality f curses and prgrams resides with the cllege, faculty, and departments, imprved nline learning excellence is achieved thrugh cllabrative effrts f elearning, faculty, prfessinal staff, student services, infrmatin technlgy services, and academic administratrs. 1 P age

2 Cmpetitive Strategies Students have chices when cnsidering fully nline and blended curses and prgrams. In the highly cmpetitive envirnment f nline learning, it is critical that the cllege develp a clear strategy t differentiate ur nline curse fferings frm thse f cmpetitrs. The cmpetitive strategy included in this strategic plan includes fur primary cmpnents: 1. CPCC must ffer high quality academic curses and prgrams that are perceived by ur stakehlders t be superir in value t thse available frm cmpetitrs. 2. We must be cmmitted t prviding cmprehensive, high quality student supprt services t help distinguish ur fferings frm the cmpetitin. 3. While many nline learning prviders prclaim the quality f their prgrams and services, ur apprach will be t demnstrate quality thrugh an nging prcess f assessment and evaluatin. 4. Effrts at marketing and prmtin must be well designed, innvative, and fcused n develping a brand that is based n the superir quality and value f ur curses, prgrams, and supprt services. Gals and Strategies The gals and strategies belw are designed t supprt the cllege s gal f increasing quality and access t nline learning fr nline learners. Gal 1: Cllabrate (elearning with Vice President f Learning & Wrkfrce Develpment, Deans, divisins, and academic departments) in targeting the develpment f new nline curses and prgrams. Strategy 1: Identify prgrams and curses with strng demand and advcate fr their develpment, including: Degree, diplma, r certificate prgrams Cmprehensive Articulatin Agreement curses Career and Cllege Prmise prgrams/curses fr high schl students Impact f 60/20 initiative Crprate & Cntinuing Educatin Key Perfrmance Indicatrs Ttal enrllments and cmpletins in fully nline curses. The number f prgrams available thrugh fully nline when it is strategic and makes sense. Strategy 2: Explre pprtunities t ffer targeted curses and prgrams t CMS, fur year clleges and universities, natinal, and internatinal audiences after determining ur cmpetitive advantage fr each. 2 P age

Strategy 1: Prduce and implement a faculty develpment plan that prvides apprpriate levels f technical and pedaggical training fr faculty (including PT) f varying levels f ability Establish a develpment planning team cmprised f faculty, prfessinal staff, academic administratrs, and elearning Include in the plan: A prcess t define levels f knwledge and learning utcmes fr cmputer and electrnic technlgies needed by faculty in rder t achieve success in an nline learning envirnment. * Identify methds t ensure that all first time nline faculty are prepared t teach nline. * Establish a faculty peer supprt system (faculty liaisns and faculty mentrs). Prvide fr nging educatinal technlgy training and supprt thrugh seminars, wrkshps, and nline pprtunities. * Develp a prgram t acquaint faculty with successful high quality nline curses and prgrams at CPCC and ther institutins. Prmte and ffer relevant, cntinuing educatin pprtunities fr faculty Partner with faculty t determine relevant prfessinal develpment activities fr nline instructin Identify gals and bjectives f the faculty develpment plan Establish annual csts fr the plan Allcate resurces Develp and implement mechanisms fr evaluatin and feedback n effectiveness f the faculty develpment activities Develp and implement mechanisms fr dcumenting faculty satisfactin with the faculty develpment prgram. (Cmmn assessments d nt imply that the cntent and assignments are exactly the same, but d mean that the faculty agree t the same standards f student perfrmance, value the assessment the same as it infrms evaluatin fr purpses f grading, and the assessments are aligned with the student learning utcmes). Strategy 4: Develp an nline learning handbk r an interactive digital resurce that includes a guide t best practices in nline teaching/learning, learning thery, pedaggy, and dcumentatin f prcedures and plicies that frame activities. * Strategy 5: Cntinually review and evaluate emerging instructinal technlgies that may enhance teaching and learning. * Strategy 6: Explre the benefits f utilizing fully nline fulltime faculty and needed infrastructure t implement (lcal and remte). * Key Perfrmance Indicatrs Percent f fferings apprved by apprpriate department, divisin directr, and dean (target = 100%). 4 P age

Strategy 2: Cllabrate clsely with supprt areas n campus t enhance services fr nline learning students. Strategy 3: Ensure staffing structures and levels are acceptable t supprt the gal f grwth. Strategy 4: Cntinue t evaluate the use f nline cllabratin tls (e.g. vide cnferencing) and ther innvative strategies t enhance advising services fr nline learning students. Strategy 5: Develp a system fr cllecting student data including nn cmpleters. Gal 5: Empwer students t make wise nline learning decisins; prvide academic and technlgical supprt t enhance student learning. Strategy 4: Cntinually wrk t refine and evaluate the varius marketing strategies including web marketing and direct mail t ptimize marketing effrts.
