The MSEd. in Art Educatin is a lw-residency prgram that prvides flexibility t students wh are currently wrking r therwise unable t pursue full-time graduate studies. As a prerequisite fr admissin, applicants must pssess certificatin fr Visual Art PreK - 12 frm the respective state. Admissin Requirements Applicatins t the M.S.Ed. in Visual Arts prgram are accepted n a rlling deadline until May 15, but applicants wh apply befre March 15 will be given pririty. The fllwing items are required fr cnsideratin: The signed signature page frm yur nline applicatin r cmpleted paper applicatin. One fficial cpy f transcripts shwing all undergraduate and graduate curse wrk and earned degrees. A minimum f 3.0 cumulative grade pint average is required fr admissin. Evidence f New Yrk State initial certificatin in art educatin. Three letters f recmmendatin frm instructrs r ther individuals wh can evaluate yur ptential fr graduate study. A resume r CV Graduate Admissins essay that clearly addresses the fllwing: Hw have yur previus experiences cntributed t yur decisin t enter the prgram? Hw will graduate study assist yu in achieving yur future career and educatinal aspiratins? What are yur prfessinal gals? Yur essay shuld be typed, duble-spaced, and between wrds. Because yur essay prvides a sample f yur writing, it shuld reflect exemplary rganizatin, writing style, and mechanics. Yu will be sent an with a link t ur Electrnic Prtfli system within ne t tw business days after yur applicatin and fee have been received by the Graduate Schl. Use the infrmatin prvided in the t lg in and check yur nline applicatin status. Use "Submit Prtfli" link at the tp f the page t submit yur electrnic prtfli. Yur electrnic prtfli must include the fllwing: Prtfli f artwrk Yur prtfli shuld cnsist f 15 examples f yur best studi wrk in any media. Images can be labeled and rdered as they are upladed int ur Electrnic Prtfli system. Each wrk sample must be labeled with the title f wrk, medium, size, and date. Artist's statement Please submit a ne-page artist's statement that discusses yur cncepts, research, methds, and influences. Teacher statement Please submit a ne- t tw-page narrative f a lessn yu've carried ut with students that cntextualizes student wrk in terms f the lessn plan, the assessment strategies, and the curse curriculum. The narrative shuld describe the cnceptual fcus f the lessn, the learning bjectives, ways yu implemented the lessn (teaching strategies), yur evaluatin methds, and hw the lessn reflects yur teaching philsphy. Please include several (3-5) examples f student wrk develped as part f this lessn shwing a range f student respnses. Please submit these examples with images embedded in a.pdf r.dc that is n mre than 10mb file size. Yu may cmplete the electrnic prtfli prtin f the applicatin cncurrently with the supplemental packet that will be submitted t the Graduate Schl, but yur applicatin will nt be cnsidered until all materials are submitted. 4 Prgram Requirements The MSEd. degree prgram is 30 credits. Students take curses in Art Educatin, Art Studi, and Art Histry. A thesis prject is the culminating experience f the MSEd. in Visual Arts Educatin degree prgram. File a degree plan f study during the first semester after matriculatin r while enrlled in ARE701, Seminar in Art Educatin; Cmplete prescribed curse wrk and ther requirements within six years after matriculatin; Maintain a 3.0 cumulative grade pint average in all curse wrk with n mre than tw grades belw B-; Cmplete 30 graduate credits, 15 f which must be in 700-level curses. A thesis is required. Under the guidance f a graduate cmmittee, the student will develp an apprpriate presentatin cmmensurate with accepted standards f schlarship.
