Fighting for COLORADO 2014 Partnership Opportunities
Breast Cancer in Colorado Our Work Susan G. Komen Colorado funds non-profit organizations to provide breast health and breast cancer services to medically underserved women and men living in Komen Colorado s 22-county service area: Adams, Arapahoe, Boulder, Broomfield, Clear Creek, Denver, Douglas, Eagle, Garfield, Gilpin, Jefferson, Larimer, Logan, Morgan, Park, Phillips, Pitkin, Sedgwick, Summit, Washington, Weld and uma. Susan G. Komen has played a critical role in every major advance in the fight against breast cancer since 1982 - transforming how the world talks about and treats this disease and helping to turn millions of breast cancer patients into breast cancer survivors. In Colorado, Komen Colorado has made much progress since its inception 21 years ago. Early stage breast cancer now has a 99% survival rate compared to 74% in 1980. Our efforts also helped decrease breast cancer mortality rates by 39% in Colorado. In the USA more than 39,620 women will die from breast cancer this year. In Colorado 1 in 7 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime. Breast cancer is the most frequently diagnosed cancer among women in Colorado. Currently only 50% of women over the age of 40 are getting screened for breast cancer. Our Investment 75 cents of each net dollar funds local breast cancer programs and 25 cents of each net dollar funds the national Susan G. Komen Research Grants Program. Over the last 21 years, Komen Colorado has invested more than $37 million in community breast health education, screening and treatment programs and $13 million in research.
How do customers view corporate support of Breast Cancer? According to the 2013 Cone Communications Social Impact Study: More than nine out of ten Americans look to companies to support social or environmental issues in some capacity, and 88% are eager to hear from companies about those efforts. 93% of consumers say that when a company supports a cause, they have a more positive image of the company. And the 2012 Cone Communications Breast Cancer Trend Tracker highlighted that: Nearly all Americans (92%) believe breast cancer is a critical cause for corporations to support, but just 26% feel companies have had a significant positive impact on the issue. 45% of consumers surveyed say they have purchased, or plan to purchase, a breast cancer-related product during National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. 90% of Americans say they want companies and brands to support the breast cancer cause year-round, not just in October. Annual Partnership We want our relationships with corporate partners to be year-round, not just during special events or October. In addition, we hope our corporate sponsors will consider all the ways listed below. To create an annual partnership valued at $50,000 or more, we can work with you to develop a unique and personalized mutually beneficial program. Any company can be a corporate partner with Komen Colorado. There are many ways to create an overall annual partnership and we encourage companies to participate in all the ways that help achieve their philanthropic, marketing and community outreach goals. For over 21 years, the Komen Colorado Affiliate has built strong relationships with local and national companies that have joined us in the fight against breast cancer. We greatly value the support of our partners, because without them we would never be able to achieve our mission to end breast cancer forever. Join the group of organizations that offer events and activities throughout the year with proceeds benefiting the Komen Colorado. Employee Giving Increase morale and build your team by encouraging your employees to come together for a common cause. If you already implement a workplace giving program, be sure to include Komen Colorado in the charitable choices. If you don t have a workplace giving program in place, consider introducing Community Health Charities, Komen s umbrella workplace giving program, to employees on an annual basis. Or, encourage your employees to contribute to Komen Colorado on Colorado Gives Day in December. Company Matching Gifts Many companies offer generous matching gift programs. For any corporate partnership, we encourage the utilization of company matches to optimize your support of Komen Colorado. Volunteerism and Leadership Komen Colorado is a volunteer-driven organization. We are always looking for passionate people willing to dedicate their time to help us in a variety of ways.
