After graduating 632 nurses, the ADN prgram was replaced in the mid-eighties with a Bachelr f Science degree prgram which has currently graduated ver 756 nurses. In 2012, the Schl f Nursing began initial plans fr a graduate prgram in nursing. Final apprval fr a MSN-Clinical Nurse Leader track was received frm the Suth Carlina Cmmissin n Higher Educatin in June 2013 and frm Suthern Assciatin f Clleges and Universities (SACS) in Octber The first class was admitted in January Lander s CNL prgram is the first ne in Suth Carlina. Accreditatin The Bachelr f Science in Nursing prgram is apprved by the State Bard f Nursing fr Suth Carlina (110 Centerview Dr. Suite 202, Clumbia, SC 29210; telephne number: ) and is accredited by the Cmmissin n Cllegiate Nursing Educatin (CCNE) (One Dupnt Circle, NW, Suite 530, Washingtn, DC 20036; Phne: ; Fax: ). A prelicensure chrt is defined as students wh have been admitted t the nursing majr and enrll in the first Level II nursing curse, NURS 345: Medical-Surgical Nursing I. Prelicensure chrts are analyzed by the semester f enrllment in NURS 345. An RN- BSN chrt is defined as thse students wh are admitted t the RN- BSN ptin and enrll during ne academic year in the first required nursing majr curse, NURN 307: Prfessinal Transitins fr Registered Nurses. RN t BSN chrts are analyzed by academic year (fall/ spring/ summer). Students wh withdraw frm the first semester in the nursing majr will be excluded frm the chrt. An MSN chrt is defined as thse students wh are admitted t the MSN prgram and enrll during ne academic year in the required curses fr the first semester f the prgram. Cmmunicatin Cmmunity f Interest the exchange, transfer, and prcessing f cgnitive and affective infrmatin between and amng individuals, families, grups, and cmmunities; infrmatin transfer and exchange may be written, ral, electrnic and nnverbal expressin. The Cmmunity f Interest fr the Lander Nursing Prgram is defined as thse persns and agencies that have an interest in the nursing prgram missin, gals, and accmplishment f utcmes. Graduatin rate fr the MSN prgram is defined as the prprtin f the riginal chrt that cmpletes all requirements and earns a MSN degree frm the university. An bservatin experience allws the student t bserve patient care activities/treatment mdalities in a health care/cmmunity setting. The student activities will be agreed upn by curse crdinatr and the representative fr the facility at which the bservatin ccurs. Evaluatin prcedures fr students in bservatin experiences are at the discretin f the curse crdinatr. Practice is defined as activities perfrmed beynd requirements fr teaching and advising that prvide nursing expertise in applicatin f the nursing prcess fr clients, r in supprt f healthrelated cmmunity initiatives. Practice may be perfrmed fr cmpensatin r gratis. Students suspected f cheating n utside class assignments, class exams, r quizzes will be apprached by a faculty member. Validated incidences f cheating are grunds fr failing a nursing curse. Students shuld nt lan class written assignments t classmates prir t submitting a paper fr grading. Plagiarism is a frm f cheating. Refer t Academic Hnr Cde, Lander University Student Handbk. Academic Plan f Study All CNL students must have a current Academic Plan f Study n file prir t registratin fr any class. The initial Academic Plan f Study will be cmpleted during the mandatry ncampus rientatin fr new students. Each semester prir t registratin the Academic Plan f Study will be reviewed and/r updated in cnsultatin with the academic advisr. Students wh are n academic prbatin will be ut-f-sequence fr ne year r until the next curse ffering. Grading Scale Didactic Nursing curse grading scales will appear in each curse syllabus. The Schl f Nursing uses the fllwing grading scale fr all NUR curses except curses assigned a grade f pass/fail. A= B=85-92 C=76-84 D=68-75 F=0-68 Clinical Students are evaluated as satisfactry r unsatisfactry in the clinical cmpnent f curses. With input frm clinical preceptrs, the curse faculty will evaluate students based n clinical curse bjectives. A satisfactry clinical grade is necessary t pass a curse with a clinical cmpnent. Applicatins and Admissins Admissin Requirements Applicants fr the CNL prgram are required t apply t Lander University and t the Schl f Nursing thrugh the Office f Admissins by September 15 fr cnsideratin fr admissin the fllwing Spring semester. Applicants must be a graduate f a baccalaureate nursing prgram accredited by Natinal League f Nursing Accrediting Cmmissin (NLNAC) r Cmmissin fr Cllegiate Nursing Educatin (CCNE), have earned an verall GPA f 3.0 n 4.0 scale n baccalaureate curse wrk, and have cmpleted an undergraduate statistics curse with a grade f C r higher. Applicants must earn satisfactry scres n the verbal and quantitative prtins f the GRE General Test (ld frmat r new revised frmat) r a satisfactry scre n the Miller Analgies Test within the last five years. Scres fr either the GRE r the MAT are utilized in the cmputatins f a weighted admissins scre; in the event that an applicant has prvided scres fr bth examinatins, nly the higher test scre will be utilized. The Crdinatr f Graduate Studies shall serve as the chair f the cmmittee. The cmmittee shall review applicatins t the CNL prgram and recmmend full admissin, cnditinal admissin, r admissin denial. In additin, the cmmittee shall review requests fr transfer credit and make recmmendatins regarding the suitability f previus Master s level curse wrk fr transfer. Apprved by NFO 11/6/13; 3/5/14 Cnditinal Admissin Applicants nt meeting GPA requirements r thse students scring 10 r less n the weighted admissin scale may be cnsidered fr cnditinal admissin. Students admitted cnditinally wuld be required t demnstrate successful graduate wrk with a GPA f 3.0 at the end f the first semester, at which time they wuld be cnsidered fully admitted and subject t the prgressin and graduatin plicies f the CNL prgram. All wrk t be applied tward the master s degree must be cmpleted within six years f initial enrllment in the prgram. Transfer Credits Students with earned graduate credits in nursing r a related field may request a transcript evaluatin fr transfer r substitutin credits, which will be cnsidered by the Graduate Admissin Cmmittee. N mre than 15 transfer hurs may be applied t the MSN degree in the CNL prgram. Readmissin t the Schl f Nursing is nt autmatic and will be cnsidered n a space-available basis. A student seeking readmissin shuld reapply t the CNL prgram by the designated date. In additin t the applicatin fr readmissin t the University the student shuld submit a type-written letter stating the circumstances that resulted in the student s absence frm the prgram and reasn(s) that readmissin t the prgram is justified. Clinical Nurse Leader Prgram Gals Students enrlled in Lander University Schl f Nursing Graduate Prgram are assessed using the fllwing prgram gals: 1.
