A minimum f tw f the three letters f recmmendatin shuld be frm faculty wh are familiar with yur mst recent academic perfrmance, particularly in life sciences. The third recmmendatin may be frm an individual wh is familiar with yur perfrmance as an emplyee. Recmmendatins frm friends and family are nt acceptable. Step 3 Apply fr a CGMBS Trainee License: 1. A 90 IBT, 230 CBT, r 575 PBT TOEFL scre OR- minimum 450 scre n the verbal sectin f the general GRE is required. A scanned cpy f the fficial scre ntificatin must be included with yur applicatin. IN ADDITION, yur transcripts shuld shw prf f an upper divisin curse in genetics, mlecular bilgy r cell bilgy taken in the USA with a grade f B r better. Statement f General Health Befre a student is allwed t begin the Prgram, (s)he must have n file a Statement f General Health signed by his/her primary health care prvider. Dcumentatin f Hepatitis Virus Vaccinatin Befre a student is allwed t begin the Prgram, (s)he must have n file dcumentatin that (s)he has either begun r has finished the curse f inculatins fr the hepatitis B virus vaccine. This dcumentatin shuld be sent t the Clinical Genetic Mlecular Bilgist Sciences Educatin Crdinatr (Julie Fley) at the address abve. If the student has just begun, but nt yet finished, the series f inculatins at the start f the Prgram, (s)he must prvide dcumentatin that (s)he has finished the curse f inculatins as sn as pssible in rder t remain in the Prgram. Dcumentatin f Tuberculsis Testing All students must prvide the results frm tuberculsis tests in rder t begin the Prgram. Admissin Criteria fr the Clinical Genetic Mlecular Bilgist Scientist Training Prgram at Cal State LA A minimum f a bachelr s degree in bilgy r related science (apprved by the prgram directr and accepted by the State f Califrnia fr purpses f licensure) Prf f enrllment in r cmpletin f all required curses must be received n later than April 30. A minimum f 10 semester (15 quarter) units f chemistry that must include an upper divisin curse in bichemistry 18 semester (27 quarter) units f bilgy including 3 semester (4 quarter) units f genetics 3 semester (4 quarter) units f mlecular bilgy r cell bilgy The remaining 12 semester (19 quarter) units in bilgy must be in advanced genetics r upper divisin cell bilgy, mlecular bilgy, r micrbilgy. At least tw f these curses must have labratry cmpnents that include mlecular techniques. 3 semester (4 quarter) units f cllege level statistics A minimum GPA f 2.75 n a 4-pint scale in the required curses listed abve.
