2 LPN ADN Nursing Prgram The nursing prgram at Bulder Cunty Campus ffers an advanced placement ptin fr students wh are licensed as a practical nurse in Clrad. Advanced placement thrugh transfer, the Clrad Nursing Articulatin Mdel, is available t licensed practical nurses and students frm ther schls. Bulder Cunty campus ffers the Advanced Placement Prgram as a chrt f twenty-fur (24) students each summer. Getting Started Entry int the LPN-t-ADN Bridge Prgram is based n a cmpetitive admissin prcess that utilizes the fllwing: Students will fill ut a preadmissin frm that shws they have apprpriate credentials t sit fr the HESI exam. The Preadmissin frm must include: a cpy f transcripts (if nt frm Frnt Range) a cpy f their current PN license Befre Yu Start: Preadmissin Packet (*Printable/Fillable Frm Appendix A) 1. A current Clrad LPN license in gd standing. 2. If transferring classes t FRCC, cmpletin f a "Transfer Credit Evaluatin Frm"(Department f Admissins and Recrds) 3. Prf f cmpletin f the fllwing prerequisites with a grade f "C" r abve n each curse and a cumulative GPA f 2.75 fr these curses. LPNs wh have earned their certificate after mre than 10 years prir t entry int the secnd year f the nursing prgram are required t take specified standardized exams fr the first year f nursing credit, as specified by the Clrad Nursing Articulatin Mdel. Students must cmplete an nline backgrund check within 90 days prir t admissin. Refer t frntrange.edu/bccnursing/ fr details. 5. Cmplete a health summary with dcumented recrds fr required immunizatins r titers (just prir t entrance int the nursing prgram). 6. Cmplete the American Heart Assciatin Health Care Prvider curse and receive a tw-year recmmended renewal date. It must be Prfessinal BLS (basic life supprt). The recmmended renewal date must nt expire prir t cmpletin f the semester and must remain current thrughut the nursing prgram.

3 7. Ability t speak, read, write and understand English t cmmunicate sufficiently with patients and health-care team. 8. Students accepted int the nursing prgram must meet the same health and safety requirements as the participating clinical facilities require f their wn staff. Additinal screening may be required fr sme clinical agencies. The expenses f these requirements are additinal cst t students. 9. Other requirements and expectatins are cntained within the FRCC Nursing Handbk (including the REQUIRED STANDARDS POLICY). HESI Exams and Timing: The HESI (Health Educatin Systems, Inc) assessment exams are ffered at the Testing Center at Bulder Cunty Campus. Refer t frntrange.edu/bccnursing/ fr HESI exam deadlines. Students must have cmpleted requirements fr the Bridge Prgram admissin. (Hwever, students may be currently enrlled in sme prerequisite curses if they will be satisfactrily cmpleted prir t the beginning f NUR 189.) Students wishing t sit fr the preadmissin assessment examinatin must submit an applicatin attesting t cmpletin (r near cmpletin) f requirements. Qualified students will be prvided with dates and times that they may take the preadmissin assessment at Bulder Cunty Campus. Imprtant: Once yu receive yur HESI Entrance Exam Frm yu are qualified t take the HESI at the BCC Testing Center: Yu must reserve yur spt at the Testing Center within 10 days f receiving yur Entrance Exam Frm. If apprpriate, suggestins will be given regarding hw t imprve in weaker areas. Students may retake the entire preadmissin assessment exam again nce, after six mnths (cntact department fr plicy); the mst current scres will be used fr the cmpetitive admissin prcess Current LPN and Nursing Cursewrk Nte: Upn successful cmpletin f the nursing prgram, students receive an assciate f applied science degree and are eligible t apply t take the NCLEX RN exam fr licensure as a registered nurse. T maintain a psitin in the prgram after starting nursing curses, students must be cntinually enrlled and cmplete all cre nursing curses in sequence, as well as maintain a grade f C r abve in all curses. Only ne re-entry t an FRCC nursing prgram is allwed after a student receives a "D," "F," r "U" grade in a nursing curse r withdraws frm a nursing curse. 4 Cmpetitive Admissins fr LPN-ADN Prgram Parts f Admissin Assessment: HESI A2 exam scres frm BCC-administered exam. The sum f the fllwing sub-test scres will be used t calculate admissins scres. a. Reading Cmprehensin b. Vcabulary/General Knwledge c. Grammar d. Anatmy & Physilgy e. Mathematics Minimum scre fr all subtests is 75, except ne subtest may be as lw as 70. Additinally, althugh nt utilized t calculate admissin scres, students must take the Learning Styles and Persnality Prfile subtests. Transfer students must have cmpleted all prerequisites t the prgram in accrdance with prgram admissin and GPA requirements. Transfer students must achieve an average f 80% n the BCC-administered apprpriate HESI preadmissin assessment with n scre lwer than 80% n any f the five required subtests: Anatmy and Physilgy Grammar Mathematics Reading Cmprehensin Vcabulary/General Understanding N transfer student will be accepted wh has failed mre than ne previus nursing curse GAINFUL EMPLOYMENT DISCLOSURE INFORMATION The U.S. Department f Educatin requires clleges t disclse a variety f infrmatin fr any financial-aid-eligible prgram that "prepares students fr gainful emplyment in a recgnized ccupatin." 5 If yu are accepted int the LPN ADN Bridge Prgram, be aware f the fllwing: 1. If yu are accepted int the LPN-RN Bridge Prgram, a mandatry Nursing Orientatin will be scheduled during the last week f April r first week f May, in preparatin fr the Summer Semester start f the Prgram (please see the Academic Calendar fr semester dates). If yu are unable t attend Orientatin n the scheduled day, yu will frfeit yur psitin in the Prgram. 2. Yu must cmplete an nline backgrund check at as directed by a nursing representative within 90 days prir t admissin. Be aware that it can smetimes take six eight weeks fr this backgrund check. 3. The fllwing criminal ffenses appearing n a criminal backgrund check will disqualify an applicant fr admissin t a CCCS nursing prgram: Any vilent felny cnvictins f hmicide. (N time limit) Crimes f vilence (assault, sexual ffenses, arsn, kidnapping, any crime against an at-risk adult r juvenile, etc.) as defined in sectin C.R.S. in the 10 years immediately preceding the submittal f applicatin. Any ffense invlving unlawful sexual behavir in the 10 years immediately preceding the submittal f applicatin. Any crime, the underlying basis f which has been fund by the curt n the recrd t include an act f dmestic vilence, as defined in sectin C.R.S. in the 7 years immediately preceding the submittal f applicatin. Any crime f child abuse, as defined in sectin C.R.S. in the 7 years immediately preceding the submittal f applicatin. Any crime related t the sale, pssessin, distributin r transfer f narctics r cntrlled substances in the 7 years immediately preceding the submittal f applicatin. Any felny theft crimes in the 7 years immediately preceding the submittal f applicatin. Any misdemeanr theft crimes in the 5 years immediately preceding the submittal f applicatin.
