2 1. Introduction Welcome to the recruitment pack for mployment Consultants based at King s Cross Recruit on our King s Cross development site. King s Cross Recruit is a recruitment centre and is part of our community and regeneration programme to help ensure that the benefits of the King s Cross development are felt by the wider community. We have already delivered a wide range of projects including the development of a construction skills training centre, programmes to improve skills and access to jobs, an active schools programme, business development, and community based initiatives such as the King s Cross Central Skip Garden. We are looking for two enthusiastic and professional people to join King s Cross Recruit and help us meet the recruitment needs of employers moving into the area as well as the career aspirations of local residents living in Camden and Islington. To ensure that the centre is a success we need an energetic, committed and above all flexible team to meet a range of objectives and establish a first class recruitment service. You will work closely with employers, residents, the local councils and colleges, and therefore need to be skilled at working with a range of stakeholders and able to work under pressure to meet their needs. Above all, you will need to have a commitment to providing high levels of client service. This pack is designed to give you background information about the role and the King s Cross Central site. 3 2. King s Cross At 67 acres, the King s Cross development is the largest site in single ownership to be master-planned and developed in central London in over 150 years. The on-going project is restoring 20 heritage buildings, creating 20 new streets and 10 new public spaces. It will provide 4.3 million square feet of new workspace, 500,000 square feet of shopping, cafés, bars and restaurants, and 2,000 new homes. In 2011 University of the Arts London moved into their new campus and were our first residents on site. Summer 2012 saw the opening of the first public square, Granary Square; and the first restaurants, The Filling Station and Caravan has been a busy year for the development as more employers move into the area including the Grain Store, the creative digital agency Zone and Consulting ngineers Hoare Lea. The coming years promise to be even busier. Camden Council is moving into their new civic centre in 2014 and we are particularly excited that Google is due to move their headquarters to King s Cross in As the development continues to grow and welcomes residents, office workers and hotel guests, King s Cross Recruit will come to provide a pivotal role on site, connecting incoming businesses with relevantly skilled local candidates. Argent LLP is one of the UK s best known and respected property developers and was founded in Over the last 30 years the company has made its name primarily on big city centre regeneration projects including Birmingham s Brindley Place and Manchester s Piccadilly development. It has grown significantly over the last few years and now has 90 members of staff. Argent has responsibility for developing the King s Cross site and works closely with organisations that are looking to relocate to this prestigious central London area. King s Cross General Partners Ltd is the landowner of the King s Cross site and works alongside Argent with a specific remit of initiatives on the King s Cross site. Staffing The mployment Consultants will be line-managed by the Recruitment Centre Manager who is already in position and is currently working on establishing King s Cross Recruit in preparation for the opening of the centre in January Her role includes liaising with employers to identify job vacancies and to assist the mployment Consultants to identify suitable candidates to fill positions. To support this small team there will also be an administrator/facilities manager who will have responsibility for ensuring the smooth running of the centre. The recruitment centre staff will also work closely with a number of colleagues based at other sites including council Apprenticeship teams, staff based within council economic development departments, as well as training providers, local colleges, and Work Programme providers. Please note this is an indicative staffing structure, which may change as the centre develops over time to reflect the changing business needs within King s Cross. To ensure that King s Cross Recruitment becomes the recruitment agency of choice, through the provision of high quality services and candidates. To ensure that at least 15% of jobs on site are filled by residents of Camden and Islington. Job description (key duties) Assess individuals and groups to ascertain personal and vocational career aspirations, offering advice to them on training opportunities and career progression Match individuals with job opportunities, organise interviews, and deliver post-interview feedback Cross-reference, screen and refer job ready job seekers to employment opportunities evelop effective relationships with employers through the appropriate placement of eligible job seekers to meet local business staffing needs evelop strong relationships with referral agencies (e.g. Jobcentre Plus, Work Programme providers) and training providers Identify and enable best use of locally available training and skills provision in order to support candidates acquire the necessary skills to secure employment eliver training modules to small groups of candidates on job search skills (including interview skills and CV development) Organise recruitment events, community outreach activities and marketing campaigns aimed at recruiting candidates and filling bulk vacancies Create and maintain accurate and up-to-date records which clearly show the jobseeker journey and progress made using the CRM system Work with the Recruitment Centre Manager to ensure that King s Cross Recruit meets the section 106 requirements as laid out in the Support Plan and any subsequent amendments Such other duties as the Company may reasonably require from time to time, and as may be notified to you. Flexible schedule required with ability to work before or after regular hours to meet operational requirements. Person specification and job description We are looking for two mployment Consultants and our aim is to recruit a staff team that offers excellent customer service to employers moving into King s Cross. The team must have strong interpersonal skills that are supported by HR knowledge. We anticipate that at least one mployment Consultant is likely to be experienced in recruitment services and matching candidates into job roles though we are also keen to receive applications from people that may have recently completed a relevant degree or Masters (e.g. HR, training and development, occupation psychology) and now want to put theory into practice. Many of the areas contained within the experience section of the person specification are therefore marked as desirable rather than essential. This is because we want to encourage a broad selection of applications and we are willing to consider candidates from a variety of backgrounds. Terms and conditions Salary and benefits The salary for this post will be 20,000-30,000 per annum (dependent on experience) plus benefits including; Pension Private health insurance Season ticket or bike loan Hours The hours of work for this post are 37 per week (Monday to Thursday 9am to 5.30pm, Friday 9am to 5pm with one hour for lunch) ress code Smart and professional business attire Holidays In addition to public holidays, there are 25 days leave per year.
