1 JOB SPCIFICATION Job title: ata Warehouse Manager Responsible to: Head of Business Systems Responsible for: ata Warehouse Information Analyst (x2) by: The principle role of the post is to manage, maintain and develop the ata Warehouse and Business Intelligence platform and take a strategic technical lead to ensure the BI platform continues to meet the needs of the Affinity Sutton Group. Location: Bromley The main responsibilities of the role include:- Maintain and support of the data warehouse and business intelligence environment ensuring that a stable, robust and resilient platform exists to support the Group s strategic reporting needs nsure that Affinity Sutton Group s reporting requirements for KPIs, legislative returns and other key reporting areas can continue to be met by the data warehouse and business intelligence platforms Take the strategic technical lead to design and implement enhancements to the data warehouse and business intelligence platform to ensure the Group can take advantage of the latest reporting design and presentation methods Manage the data warehouse team to ensure an excellent customer service is provide at all times via accurate analysis and definition of business reporting requirements, timely publication of reports and response to enquiries. 1
2 Key Areas Management and development of the ata Warehouse nsuring that the data warehouse continues to meet the current and future strategic reporting needs of the business. Systems Analysis Provide analysis skills and services which consider the technical implications of business reporting requirements and functional specifications escription Management and development of agreed reporting requirements from the data warehouse together with planning and scheduling of associated work plans to deliver agreed requirements. Ongoing development, configuration and management of the data warehouse and reporting software to ensure associated reporting services continue to be delivered. evelop a knowledge of the business, its key challenges and influences that may influence the development of the IMS systems nsure that upgrades and enhancements to the data warehouse are properly planned and implemented to agreed quality standards. nsure that all supporting documentation is fully maintained including full version and release control Work with requirement owners and key users to understand and clearly document business reporting requirements, issues and challenges, including technical implications Work with the business to identify solution options, narrowing down to a proposed solution, documenting the solution, how and when it will be implemented and the technical implications. Collaborate with key stakeholders to develop business reporting requirements into a functional specification and or user requirements. Performance standards are satisfactory when: All agreed reporting requirements to be produce from the ata Warehouse. Reporting services are being delivered to the business in a timely and efficient manner. The ata Warehouse Manager is well informed Minimal interruption to reporting services and feedback from the Balanced ocumented evidence showing the information required and how it should be derived for each published report. Reporting requirements correctly captured and documented with early sign off from requirement owners Reporting requirements delivered with no adverse technical impact within the agreed time frame Full engagement and positive feedback from stakeholders 2
3 ata Warehouse Strategy nsure that the data warehouse is both stable and robust and is developed to meeting the changing needs of the business and advancements in technology. nsure robust processes and procedures exist for the requirements analysis, definition, development, testing and implementation of reports evelop, maintain and publish the agreed reporting requirements from the data warehouse. nsure each report is properly scoped and agreed before development and implementation incorporating full documented version and release control. nsure proper acceptance testing and business sign off are achieved for each published report. Continue to evaluate the data warehouse and business intelligence platforms against Affinity Sutton s business objectives to ensure strategic decisions taken to further develop the data warehouse are aligned to meet the goals and objectives of the Affinity Sutton Group Keep abreast of the latest technology developments in the ata Warehouse and Business Intelligence arenas, identifying any potential or emerging technologies which may benefit the Affinity Sutton Group nsure that the live production and R data warehouse platforms are fully maintained and available Reports successfully implemented on time and in line with agreed specification ocumented functional specification for each reporting requirement together with testing plan. ocumented evidence of report specification including version and release control. ocumented evidence of user acceptance testing and sign off. The ata warehouse continues to operate efficiently and is maintained and developed to enable it to deliver the required and agreed reporting requirements of the Affinity Sutton Group. The data warehouse is developed in line with the reporting requirements of the Group and utilising appropriate and most suitable technologies Systems are available during core hours with overnight routines completing successfully 3
4 ata Warehouse administration Responsibility for ensuring that the data extraction and reporting routines of the data warehouse are correctly administered. Team leadership and staff management Leading and maintaining an enthusiastic Reporting Project team capable of analyzing and delivering the agreed Maintain the data warehouse and reports to ensure they are published on time and that the information published is accurate. nsure that all data extraction routines and reports published are administered in accordance with approved business requirements and the IMS departmental standards. nsure that IMS change control processes are followed in commissioning any new reporting requirements or amendments to existing reports including required updates to documentation. Production, enhancement and testing of data extraction routines including automated schedules and stored procedures. nsure that all data extractions and report publications run as required and that failures are noted and corrective action implemented. Provide support for the data warehouse with the help of other IMS teams as required. nsure that upgrades and enhancements to the data warehouse and associated software are properly planned and implemented to agreed quality standards. nsure that all staff within the ata Warehouse Team are recruited, trained, managed and developed in accordance with statutory and Group procedures. reporting requirements to the Group. evelop a commitment to best HR and administration practices Clearly documented operational procedures and responsibilities exist for each extraction routine and report. Report changes are managed in a controlled environment and up to date documentation is maintained. All routines whether manual or automated run successfully. 6 Relationship management Build and maintain productive relationships with other teams and departments to ensure that the agreed reporting services are delivered to the wider Group. Meet regularly with key personnel across the Group to maintain an understanding of the existing and future reporting requirements. Maintain regular communications to highlight the work of the team and provide updates detailing key events, issues and changes to work plans. Publish regular updates and checkpoint reports for the Balanced Scorecard Reporting Group, detailing achievements, completed tasks, changes to work plans, issues and concerns Consult and liaise at all levels of the organisation to determine reporting requirements Organise, conduct and document meetings to gather information and promote the ata Warehouse To be the focal point of the IMS department to investigate and answer queries relating to the data warehouse and strategic reporting requirements Work with stakeholders to establish complete, unambiguous realistic and testable requirements Assist in managing business expectations regarding data warehouse work plans and delivery of reporting requirements. nsure compliance with and promotion of the organisation s Health and Safety policy and procedures nsure compliance with the organisation s quality and iversity policies and relevant legislation Other duties that are broadly consistent with the job description and level of the post. Recognised Systems / Business Analyst Qualification / course attendance (e.g. ISB iploma in Business Analysis) Knowledge of structured analysis methods with the ability to analyse and document business reporting requirements with an understanding of the resulting technical implications vidence of writing functional and technical specifications xpert knowledge of Business Intelligence and ata Warehouse design and development using methodologies such as Kimball. Knowledge of the software development and project management lifecycle An understanding of the housing sector. Be a fluent and effective communicator at all levels with strong analytical skills with good attention to detail.
