Great strides are being made with a CCD Cmmunicatins Ad-Hc Cmmittee (leadership prvided by Dr. Nancy Singer, Regin V Representative), that is enhancing supprt, advcacy and infrmatin fr cmmunity cllege clleagues and institutins. Leadership/Vlunteer Management Regin I Representative Kristina Testa-Buzzee Three vlunteers were recmmended t wrk n the CCD Cmmunicatins Ad-Hc Cmmittee, and all three are currently engaged n the natinal level. With Dr. Jhn Laws, initiated and mderated a NCC Online Learning Series panel fr NASPA Careers in Student Affairs Mnth in Octber 2013 titled the Cmmunity Clleges as a Career Chice. Initiated cnversatin with State Directrs t ensure a cmmunity cllege representative is n each state bard. CT has appinted Mandy Kuster wh is nw at Nrwalk Cmmunity Cllege after wrking in cmmuter affairs at Wrcester State Cllege. Dina Brwn, the MA cmmunity cllege representative has prvided wrkshps fr her state n StrengthsQuest and the DiSC Assessment in cllabratin with the New Hampshire Cmmunity Cllege Student Life Assciatin (CCSLA) Directrs fr a at the CCSLA Annual Fall Cnference in Octber. In additin she prvides regular cmmunity cllege updates at state meetings.

Member Engagement On Nvember 20 and 21, 2013, SSAO Representative Jhn Laws will participate (alng with Kevin Kruger and perhaps thers) at an EDUCAUSE summit n Managing Data Risk in Student Success Systems in Washingtn, DC. Participatin in this event is by invitatin nly. Integrated Planning and Advising Services (IPAS), are designed t prvide students with persnalized, real-time guidance n hw t mst efficiently and effectively pursue their academic gals. IPAS systems hld prmise fr imprving student success and cllege cmpletin rates. Hwever, their uses f student and institutinal data pse ptential risks. Privacy, security, and data gvernance, fr example, must be key cnsideratins in the deplyment and peratin f these systems and services. The Summit is supprted by the Bill & Melinda Gates Fundatin. Hwever, little research has fcused n presidents frm nntraditinal backgrunds, specifically with experience as chief student affairs fficers (Cvert, 2004; Delabbi, 2006).
