1 VAN LUNEN FELLOWS PROGRAM INFORMATION AND APPLICATION The Van Lunen Fellws Prgram fr the executive leadership develpment f Christian schl heads begins in July Because f generus supprt frm the Van Lunen Fundatin, the DeVs Fundatin, the Christpher Family Fundatin, and individual and family dnrs, the $19,000 prgram value will be available fr a participant fee f $3,200. The Van Lunen Fellws Prgram pprtunity is pen t any head* f schl** based in the histric Christian faith wh: Is currently a head f schl based in the histric Christian faith. Has been a head f schl at least ne full year befre the Fellws Prgram begins. *** Has been a head f schl in the current schl setting fr n mre than ten years. *** Has a minimum f a bachelr s degree. Has a desire t deepen managerial gifts needed fr executive leadership f a faith-based schl. Agrees t fully attend all three residential sessins (July 10 15, 2016; January 15 20, 2017; and July 12 15, 2016) and t participate in an nline persnal assessment f skills, knwledge, and experience prir t the July 2016 sessin. Cmmits t full participatin in all Fellws activities. Understands that time apart frm spuses, relatives, friends, and schl persnnel is imprtant fr ptimal learning; therefre, single ccupancy fr Fellws is required fr ldging during all cnference sessins. 3 COST Fr the Fellws class f , the participant registratin fee is $3,200. Hwever, if the applicatin is received by January 9, 2016, the participant registratin fee is $2,900. Financial aid is available t applicants whse schls are unable t affrd the entire participant registratin fee. The specific applicatin fr financial aid must be cmpleted and submitted with this applicatin. The Van Lunen Fellws Prgram is supprted significantly by dnrs. The actual csts f administratin, instructin, airfare r car rental, meals during sessins, caching, and access t tpic experts averages $19,000 per Fellw. We encurage yu t cnsider paying mre than the full registratin fee f $3,200 tward the full cst f the prgram (if yu are able), and seeking additinal funds frm yur schl, church, dnrs, and/r eligible public schl district prfessinal develpment surces. TRAVEL Participants will bk their travel t and frm the Fellws Prgram sites thrugh the Calvin Cllege travel ffice. If yu travel by air, all shuttle service fr arrival in Grand Rapids, MI, and Scttsdale, AZ, will be arranged by the Van Lunen Center ffice. The Van Lunen Center will nt reimburse ther airprt shuttle arrangements. Reimbursable travel csts include pre- and pst-cnference ldging necessary t accmmdate flight arrangements and autmbile expenses at the prevailing IRS reimbursement rate, nt t exceed cmparable rental car csts. Yu are respnsible fr related travel csts such as baggage fees, airprt parking, meals in transit, and transprtatin t and frm yur lcal airprt. Fr Sessin I, plan t arrive Sunday afternn, July 10. Yu are free t leave after 1:30 p.m. n Friday, July 15. There will be similar expectatins fr Sessins II and III. LODGING AND MEALS Ldging and meals will be at the cnference center, except fr specific dinners that will be ff campus. The expectatin is that nly Fellws and faculty be in residence during the three cnference sessins. During the Fellws prgram yu must stay n the campus with the fellws grup, eating all scheduled meals with the rest f the participants. We want t develp cmmunity and netwrking amng the participants. Yu will have selected evenings free. Ldging will be single ccupancy in bth the Prince Cnference Center and the Franciscan Renewal Center. Rms are similar t standard htel rms, with linens and twels prvided. If yur travel plans include extra nights befre r beynd the prgram due t persnal reasns such as vacatin r schl-related business, ldging rms can be prvided; these will be at yur wn expense. APPLICATION Yu must submit the cmpleted ONLINE applicatin frm and tw different recmmendatin frms, ne frm a prfessinal peer and anther frm a member f the executive cmmittee/fficers fr yur schl s gverning bard. All criteria listed n the applicatin frm must be true f applicants. A panel f reviewers will decide which applicants are selected.
