1 AMWA Chapter Subgrups n LinkedIn Guidance fr Subgrup Managers and Chapter Leaders, updated Chapters may nt have an independent grup n LinkedIn, Facebk, r ther scial netwrking site. AMWA prvides subgrup pages fr each chapter thrugh the AMWA Grup LinkedIn page. 2. Each chapter is respnsible fr maintaining its subgrup page. Apprved chapters lgs may be upladed t the subgrup page. 3. Fr a successful nline cmmunity, AMWA recmmends that smene (1-2 peple) serve as a manager f the subgrup t ensure that there is smene cnducting frequent reviews f the page t answer any questins that may arise. Managers pst annuncements, mnitr discussins (as needed), and act n requests t jin (if applicable). The wner f every subgrup will be an AMWA staff member, currently AMWA s Deputy Directr. 4. Chapter Subgrups must adhere t the AMWA main LinkedIn grup rules. Grup rules can be fund by clicking the i fr infrmatin and settings icn in the header area f the grup page. Then click n grup rules. There are tw exceptins: Chapters may chse t restrict their subgrup available t members nly. Chapters may chse t allw fr jb pstings t supprt their chapter-based jb psting service. 5. In rder t jin a chapter subgrup, an individual must first be a member f the main AMWA LinkedIn discussin grup. The main AMWA LinkedIn discussin grup is pen t bth members and nnmembers. Chapters are empwered t make their wn determinatin regarding wh is allwed t jin their respective chapter LinkedIn subgrups. Allwing nn-amwa members int a subgrup can be a tl fr utreach fr the chapter, and thus a chapter may decide t pen membership t AMWA members and nnmembers alike. In this case, requests t jin the grup may be handled thrugh autapprval in LinkedIn. Chapters that pst jb annuncements n their LinkedIn subgrup and view jb annuncements as a member benefit may wish t restrict their membership t chapter members nly r AMWA members nly. Restricting a chapter subgrup t members nly is a manual prcess that must be managed by a vlunteer. The vlunteer must cnfirm the persn s membership either thrugh the chapter s membership rster r thrugh AMWA s Online Membership directry. It will als be necessary t peridically review membership status f thse in the grup and remve thse whse membership has expired. Chapters receive peridic, twice-mnthly, membership updates frm AMWA HQ. These updates may prve useful t efficiently check the eligibility f LinkedIn subgrup members. 6. LinkedIn Grup Managers may mdify their wn grup settings and templates. AMWA staff is available t review grup settings and prvide supprt if questins arise.

2 Managing Yur Subgrup Quick Tips At the tp f yur grup s hme page, click Manage. At the left f the page, nte the tls mst relevant t AMWA chapters: Requests t Jin Lets yu apprve r decline pending requests t jin. Dn t click Decline and Blck : it frever blcks a persn frm jining. Send an Annuncement Sends a message t all members in yur grup. Subgrups are separate frm the main grup. Messages sent t the subgrup are nt psted t the main grup, and vice versa. Send Invitatins Lets yu invite peple t jin yur grup. Templates Lets yu create an autmated message t peple wh request t jin (t tell them yu ll apprve them as sn as pssible) and t peple whse membership has just been apprved r denied. Welcme message Please create a welcme fr anyne wh jins the grup. If the grup is set t autmatically accept requests t jin, this welcme will be sent when they request t jin. If the grup is set s that requests t jin must be apprved, this welcme will be sent when the manager apprves the request. The welcme shuld reference the AMWA main grup rules as well any unique cnsideratins fr yur chapter s subgrup. Decline message If yur chapter decides t restrict the grup t AMWA members nly, please create a decline message. The decline message shuld be friendly and supprt interested parties in learning mre abut AMWA and hw t jin. If the grup is pen, a decline message will nt be needed. Grup Rules Add a nte in yur subgrup area that the AMWA chapter subgrup adheres t the rules f the AMWA natinal grup. These rules may be updated frm time t time by the rganizatin and will be updated t the rules link n the main site. Then yu can cpy/paste the rules as they exist nw with a nte "Rules as f TODAY S DATE". Yu may als nte any exceptins t thse rules as identified in this guidance dcument.
