2 ASO Business Expo 2016 The 3rd Annual Australian Society of Ophthalmologists (ASO) Business Expo will be held in Sydney at the InterContinental Hotel Double Bay on 21 & 22 May This dynamic and interactive event is where technology, advice, and education come together to enhance the business-side of ophthalmology practice in Australia s ever-changing healthcare market. We are excited that ophthalmologists are now telling us they consider the Expo a must do item on their business calendar. Not surprisingly then, as we gear up for Expo 2016, we find we are experiencing an increased rate of inquiry from businesses and organisations interested in having a presence at the event. One of the ASO s roles is to deliver valuable professional development education to its ophthalmologist members that drives innovation in their business practice. 3 Inside the ASO Business Expo Our venue InterContinental Hotel Sydney, Double Bay Located in the picturesque bayside village of Double Bay, this intimate Sydney hotel offers luxury and privacy at its finest. Only minutes from the CBD of Sydney and 13kms from the airport, guests can enjoy the central location and village atmosphere of Double Bay with boutique shopping, cafes and the beach only a minute s walk from the hotel. On Saturday morning, 21 May, the ASO Business Expo will come to life inside the hotel s grand ballroom. Two different Expo areas will operate alongside each other; the seminar space and the Expo Networking Hub. Our program The ASO Business Expo program has been developed based on feedback from ophthalmologists working in both public and private settings, as well as day surgery owners, practice managers, and medical practice staff. They told us what business issues were relevant to them and they helped us identify the areas of professional development and assistance that would be of most benefit to them. 4 Interactive exhibits and networking Alongside the Expo seminar area, the Networking Hub will operate as an interactive space dedicated to business development. Here our display booths set up by exhibitors will provide Expo delegates with information, advice, and product demonstrations. As the name suggests, the Networking Hub will also be the place where valuable connections are made and new business opportunities forged. The Networking Hub will be utilised during Saturday s seminar program. Special events Official Expo Cocktail Function After a full day of learning in the grand ballroom Expo delegates will gather on Saturday evening for some relaxed social time. They will be able to share thoughts and reflections on the day that was and enjoy some exquisite refreshments and canapés amid Double Bay s picturesque setting. Day Surgery Owners Think Tank Breakfast On Sunday morning, 22 May, an intimate group of day surgery owners will be part of the Expo Day Surgery Owners Think Tank Breakfast. This unique event is where day surgery owners can come together in a non-competitive environment to discuss the range of issues they face in their businesses on a daily basis and then brainstorm solutions. The event was developed by the ASO after recognition of many members owing and or running private surgical facilities This event is available for sponsorship for one exclusive Gold level sponsor.
