2 Equestrian Australia EVOLVE Cach Educatr and SSTA Qualificatins Caching and riding are separate skills that bth take time t master. Being an experienced rider desn t ensure r guarantee that ne will be an effective cach. Similarly, caching and assessing are separate skills. Being an experienced Cach desn t necessarily mean the Cach will be able t apply the assessment principles t assess Curse Candidates accrding t EA NCAS cmpetency standards. All three rles Riding, Caching and Assessing - have specific skills that need t be taught, learnt, practised and applied in rder t achieve cmpetency, and all require regular updating and prfessinal develpment t maintain this cmpetency. Cach Educatrs and SSTAs need t understand and apply assessment principles and prcesses fairly in accrdance with EA NCAS cmpetency standards at all times. The ability t remain pen-minded, fair and bjective and t have gd cmmunicatin skills (listening, questining and feedback) is essential. SSTAs and CEs need t be cmmitted t preserving and imprving the standards f caching delivery, caching, riding and hrse management training and assessment. EA Cach Educatr and SSTA Curse The EA Natinal Office and NCAS Cmmittee, with the valuable assistance f the State Branches, run several 2 Day CE/SSTA Curse (update) and 3 day prmtin curses thrughut the year. This curse has been updated t prvide bth the pprtunity fr renewal fr current CEs and SSTAs, and t accredit new CEs and SSTAs. In rder t satisfy the new CE/SSTA accreditatin, all 3 days must be attended. Fr thse wh wish t update their CE/SSTA status nly the 2 nd and 3 rd days must be attended. This curse is intended t prvide all participants with the fllwing which are essential t undertaking the CE/SSTA rle: 1) A greater understanding f EA Educatin (Riding and Hrse Management) and Accreditatin (Caching) prgrams and curses 2) A detailed understanding f EA NCAS Plicies and Prcedure 3) EA Assessment Principles, Prcedures and Guidelines 4) An imprved understanding f curse cntent, including the syllabi and learning guide, relating t Riding, Hrse Management and Caching (accrding t accreditatin level)* 5) The skills and knwledge required t assess and sign curse verificatin (activity) slips in regards t: Riding, Hrse Management and Caching (accrding t accreditatin level)* *Pints 4 and 5 are dependent in part n the availability f dem riders and caches The curse will fcus n ensuring the EA Assessment standards are implemented and maintained. A cmbinatin f practical and theretical activities will be invlved. Participants will be given every pprtunity t demnstrate their understanding, cmpetency and cmpliance with the EA NCAS Plicies and Prcedures and EA Assessment principles, prcedures and guidelines. The Prgram All candidates must attend their curse requirements in full. New CEs and SSTAs attend all 3 days, and renewing CEs and SSTAs attend days 2 and 3. The curse will be intensive and all participants are required t attend a cmbinatin f theretical and small grup practical sessins. 4 Prcedure t Gain CE/SSTA Qualificatin Cach Educatr and Skill Specific Trainers & Assessr rles underpin all EA Educatin (Riding and Hrse Management) and Accreditatin (Caching) curses. CE/SSTAs participate in educating, prviding feedback and assessing Certificate/Accreditatin Curse Candidates in accrdance with the EA NCAS cmpetency based assessment principles. It is the respnsibility f EA Natinal and/r Branch NCAS Cmmittees (r similar) t endrse the applicant s suitability t attend the CE/SSTA Curse thrugh their invlvement within the EA NCAS. Simply attending this Curse will nt entitle CE/SSTA participants t be qualified as a CE r SSTA. CE/SSTA participants will be required t demnstrate active invlvement within all aspects f the Curse and be assessed as cmpetent in assessing candidates accrding t the EA NCAS criteria and standards. CE/SSTA participants will be asked t cmplete written and/r verbal assessments thrughut the Curse and pst curse assessment and mentring requirements. It is necessary that all CE/SSTA participants be active participants and engage in Curse discussin/activities as much as pssible. All CE/SSTA participants are required t be present fr the duratin f the curse. CE/SSTA participants wh d nt attend all sessins f the curse and/r d nt fully participate/interact may be required t cmplete pst-curse training and assessments (at their wn cst) t cnfirm their knwledge f the apprpriate EA curse cntent and prcedures. Criteria fr Cach Educatr/SSTA Qualificatin Nte: The EA Natinal NCAS Cmmittee reserve the right t endrse attendance at a SSTA/CE training curses t caches wh have nt cmpleted the criteria under exceptinal circumstances r fr strategic purpses. T be a Cach Educatr r Skill Specific Trainer and Assessr (SSTA), an EA NCAS Cach needs t have a thrugh and current knwledge f the EA NCAS standards and peratins. Uphld the aims f the EA NCAS Demnstrate a thrugh knwledge f the standards and requirements f the scheme Adhere t the EA NCAS Plicies and Prcedures Fllw the guidelines stipulated in the EA Certificate / Accreditatin wrkbks fr candidates Adhere t the EA Assessment principles, prcedures and guidelines SSTAs are endrsed and qualified by Equestrian Australia t assess Intrductry Riding and Hrse Management Certificates nly. CEs are endrsed and qualified by Equestrian Australia t assess (accrding t their accreditatin level) Intrductry, Level 1 and Level 2 Riding, Hrse Management and Caching curse wrkbks. T becme an EA NCAS SSTA the Cach must meet the fllwing criteria: Must be a level ne r abve cach wh has been registered fr at least 5 years within the previus 7 years.
