1 DIRECTORATE OF PEOPLE & ORGANISATIONAL DEVELOPMENT Organisational Development Team Business Change Project Manager Full Time, Permanent Grade G: 36,672-46,414 per annum De Montfort University (DMU) has set out a clear and exciting agenda for change, transformation and continuous improvement in support of its aspiration to be positioned as the definition of a twenty-first century global university. DMU is now looking to recruit an experienced, enthusiastic and self-motivated Business Change Project Manager to manage key institutional projects that will promote improvement and enhance our performance across some key areas of activity. Working within the Organisation Development team, you will ensure that staff and students are considered at the heart of every project. Whilst your key focus will be managing and delivering major corporate change projects from inception to completion, your advice, guidance and support will also be sought by faculties and directorates on the delivery of their own changes and improvements. You will have a track record of successfully delivering significant business change and improvement projects in a large organisation. You will have been directly accountable for successful delivery through the development of robust business cases, the pro-active management of risk, careful management of stakeholders and project teams, effective implementation and succesful realisation of benefits. You will also have sound knowledge and proven experience of project management and organisational change and continuous improvement, along with associated tools and techniques. This is likely to have been gained through delivering cultural and people change and process/system improvements on corporate projects. You will be experienced at influencing key decision makers at all levels of the organisation and will be pro-active, flexible and resilient. A strong delivery focus is required, allied to excellent interpersonal, planning and organisational skills. Main duties and responsibilities Project management of organisational improvement and change projects within the corporate Organisational Development(OD) programme and wider transformation portfolio, delivered to time, cost and quality, managing project budgets effectively and responsibly
3 Duties of the role To follow DMU project management standards and good practice, including the areas of business case development, risk and stakeholder management, implementation and benefits realisation for all projects Conduct environment scans to identify and bring to the university s attention areas which would benefit from organisational development and improvement activity to support strategic aims Provide guidance and expert advice to staff within faculties and directorates on business change project management and organisational improvement and change issues Support faculties and directorates with project management and improvement practice, including the design and implementation of their local change and improvement programmes to achieve strategic aims Act as a relationship manager for the OD team with faculties/directorates ensuring the team are kept up to date with key changes and that appropriate advice and support is offered Manage the commissioning and delivery of third party providers who are engaged to support the delivery of business change projects across the university Develop and implement appropriate communications and engagement plans to support project delivery Facilitate workshops, group discussions and events with staff from across the university on a range of projects and change management activity, utilising appropriate tools and techniques to positively affect change at DMU Establish and mentor change agents across DMU who can help to support future change and improvement activities across the university Work collaboratively with De Montfort Student Union to enhance the student experience in line with strategic aims, and to engage with Trade Unions on project activity in collaboration with the HR service Lead and support the transfer of knowledge and development of internal capability in project management and organisational improvement, including supporting the DMU Project Management Community of Practice Identify future opportunities for organisational change and improvement through the analysis of university data, feedback from key stakeholders and contacts, and other sources.
4 Duties of the role General Responsibilities Keeping up to date with the latest thinking, tools and techniques to bring fresh ideas to DMU Working flexibly across the OD service and wider People & OD Directorate to support the achievement of the People Strategy Contributing fully as part of the OD team to support the continuous improvement of the service Networking and building effective working relationships across the university Role-modelling positive behaviours Perform any other duties commensurate with the job grade as reasonably required from time to time. Take responsibility for ensuring that the university s strategic equality plans are in place and provide regular reports on progress. The post holder is required to minimise environmental impact in the performance of the role, seek to promote environmental sustainability within area of responsibility and actively contribute to the delivery of the DMU Environmental Policy.
