1 RIVERSIDE TOWNSHIP BOARD OF EDUCATION REGULAR MEETING December 11, 2014 The Regular Meeting of the Riverside Township Board of Education was held on Thursday, December 11, 2014 at 7:00 p.m., in the Elementary Cafeteria. Present were: Absent was: J. D Agostino, M. Holak, P. Jenkins, B. Knaub, T. McElroy, D. Reale, R. Russell, J. Lennon and R. Ehrich D. Graf, A. Lobley, and D. Potts Mr. McElroy led the flag salute. Mrs. Lennon announced that adequate notice of the meeting had been given to the public by notifying the Burlington County Times and the Courier Post on January 4, 2014 and posted at the Riverside Town Hall. CORRESPONDENCE NJSBA School Board Notes dated November 21, 2014 On the motion by Mrs. Reale, seconded by Mr. Holak and carried unanimously, Be It Resolved that the Riverside Township Board of Education hereby approves the acceptance and filing of the above correspondence. GOOD NEWS Mrs. Milch announced that one more Girls Soccer All-Star Junior Haylee Loveland was honored at the First Team Freedom Division Team. The Football All Stars have been announced: First Team Freedom Senior, Jordan Harrod, Senior Aaron Hoffman, Junior Ted Gauntt and Junior Marquis Thomas. Second Team Freedom Senior Trevor Skomsky, Senior Mikel Purcell, Junior Andrew Belcher, Junior Jordan Senior, Junior Guil Lomeu, Sophomore Chris Henderson, Junior Christian Furniss and Junior Jordan Anderson. Also honored on the Burlington County Times All- County Team were First Team Aaron Hoffman who also received First Team All-County All Academic Honors and Second Team Jordan Harrod and Ted Gauntt. Riverside s Coach Dan Harris, who guided the team to a 6-4 record received Coach of the Year Award, it was the first since 1965 when the honor was won by Joseph T. Rocky Cancellieri. The RAMS scored 273 points, the most in Riverside High School history. BCIP/JIF Safety Award Presentation Craig Wilkie and Scott Tennant from Arthur J. Gallagher recognized the Riverside Township School district for our commitment to safety and presented the following BCIP/JIF Awards: Safety Incentive Winner-Elite II (for the 11 th year in a row), Financial Excellence Awards: Maintaining a Loss Ratio Below 90% for , Maintaining a Five year Average Loss Ratio Below 50%, and Maintaining a Ten Year Average Loss Ratio Below 50%, for a total monetary award of $8,000, which will be used to support additional safety purchases throughout our district. In addition the Riverside Township School district was selected as the Safety District of the Year (along with Clementon) for the second time. STUDENTS OF THE MONTH Mr. Shumway, Mr. Mongon and Mr. Pae introduced the following students of the month: Elementary- Hailey Minard, 3rd grade; Jeferson Lopez, 4th grade; Eric Jones, 5th grade. Middle School- Annie Magargal, 6th grade; Miranda Goerlich, 7th grade (not present); Daniel Dalbey, 8th grade. High School- Tyler Clark, 9th grade(not present); Elizabeth Wallace, 10th grade; Adrian Salek, 11th grade; Brittany Searle, 12th grade(not present).

AMEND DECEMBER 11, 2014 MINUTES On the motion by Mr. Holak, seconded by Mr. D Agostino, and carried unanimously, Be It Resolved that the Riverside Township Board of Education hereby amends the minutes of its August 14, 2014 board meeting to approve Joann Troso s unpaid federal family leave request to read from July 1 August 29 (22 days) and September 2 October 2, 2014 (30 days) and an unpaid state maternity leave from October 3, 2014 December 26, 2014, and an unpaid leave from December 27, 2014 May 1, 2015 instead of July 1 August 29 (22 days) and September 3 October 3, 2014 (30 days) and an unpaid maternity leave from October 14, 2014 May 1, AMEND October 9, 2014 MINUTES On the motion by Mr. Holak, seconded by Mr. D Agostino, and carried unanimously, Be It Resolved that the Riverside Township Board of Education hereby amends the minutes of its October 9, 2014 board meeting to approve Vanessa Connearney s unpaid leave of absence to read from November 13 14, 2014 instead of November 11 13, APPROVAL OF MINUTES On the motion by Mrs. Reale, seconded by Mr. Holak, and carried unanimously, Be It Resolved that the Riverside Township Board of Education hereby approves the minutes of a full Board Workshop Meeting and Regular Board Meeting held on November 13, APPROVAL OF FINANCIAL REPORTS On the motion by Mr. McElroy, seconded by Mrs. Reale, and carried unanimously, Be It Resolved that the Riverside Township Board of Education hereby approves the Board Secretary's Report (October 31, 2014), the Treasurer's Report (October 31, 2014), the Cafeteria Financial Report (October 31, 2014), the Student Activity Financial Report (October 31, 2014), the Athletic Council Report (October 31, 2014), and the Budget Status Report (October 31, 2014), as presented. APPROVAL OF BILLS On the motion by Mrs. Knaub, seconded by Mrs. Reale, and carried unanimously, Be It Resolved that the Riverside Township Board of Education hereby approves payment of December, 2014 bills as presented.

3 Page 3 BUSINESS & FINANCIAL Transfers On the motion by Mr. D Agostino, seconded by Mr. Holak, and carried unanimously, Whereas, the State Department of Education permits transfers among the school district s budgetary line item accounts, And Whereas, it is the desire of the Riverside Township Board of Education to make such transfers, Therefore, Be It Resolved, by the Riverside Township Board of Education that the Board Secretary is hereby authorized to make the following budgetary account line item transfers. FROM TO AMOUNT $ $2, $2, Fire Drill and Security Report On the motion by Mr. D Agostino, seconded by Mr. Holak, and carried unanimously, Be It Resolved that Riverside Township Board of Education hereby approves the November Fire Drill Report, submitted by Kurt Andress, Fire Marshall, and the Security Drill Report, submitted by Robin A. Ehrich, Superintendent, as attached. Participation in Cooperative Pricing System #4BuCCP On the motion by Mr. D Agostino, seconded by Mr. Holak, and carried unanimously, Be It Resolved that the Riverside Township Board of Education authorizes participation in a cooperative pricing system with Burlington County for the provisions and performance of goods and services as per attached resolution. PERSONNEL Staff Development On the motion by Mrs. Knaub, seconded by Mrs. Reale, and carried unanimously, Be It Resolved that the Riverside Township Board of Education hereby approves the staff development activities for the school year as attached.

4 Page 4 Instructional Teacher Aide - Media On the motion by Mrs. Knaub, seconded by Mrs. Reale, and carried unanimously, Be It Resolved that the Riverside Township Board of Education hereby accepts the resignation of Brittany DiMiero as ES Part-Time Basic Skills Instructional Aide and approves Brittany DiMiero as Instructional Teacher Aide-Media, at the contract salary of $29,389 (BS) for the school year, prorated from December 15, Voluntary Transfer On the motion by Mrs. Knaub, seconded by Mrs. Reale, and carried unanimously, Be It Resolved that the Riverside Township Board of Education hereby approves the voluntary transfer of Jennifer Theis-Alston from ES 3 rd Grade Teacher to ES Basic Skills Teacher, paid with Title I funds, effective January 5, 2015, as recommended by the Superintendent. Elementary School Position On the motion by Mr. Holak, seconded by Mr. D Agostino, and carried unanimously, Be It Resolved that the Riverside Township Board of Education hereby approves the appointment of Katie Morton as an Elementary School 3 rd Grade Teacher, effective January 5, 2015, at the contract salary of $57,650 (Step 0 + M) for the school year, prorated from January 5, 2015, as recommended by the Superintendent. Physical Science Teacher On the motion by Mr. Holak, seconded by Mr. D Agostino, and carried unanimously, Be It Resolved that the Riverside Township Board of Education hereby approves the appointment of John Matthews as a High School Physical Science Teacher, effective January 6, 2015, at the contract salary of $57,650 (Step 0 + M) for the school year, prorated from January 6, 2015, as recommended by the Superintendent. Substitutes On the motion by Mr. D Agostino, seconded by Mrs. Reale, and carried unanimously, Be It Resolved that the Riverside Township Board of Education hereby approves the following substitutes for the school year.

5 Page 5 Nurse Secretary Custodian Robyn Loglisci Robyn Loglisci Christopher Gahm Salary Adjustment On the motion by Mr. D Agostino, seconded by Mrs. Reale, and carried unanimously, Be It Resolved that the Riverside Township Board of Education hereby approves the salary adjustment for Catherine Burry, ES 5 th Grade Teacher, from $54,650 (step 0) to $55,000 (step 0), to reflect longevity for the school year. Leave Request On the motion by Mr. D Agostino, seconded by Mrs. Reale, and carried unanimously, Be It Resolved that the Riverside Township Board of Education hereby approves the unpaid leave of absence for the employee listed below for the period indicated. Employee Position Date Melissa Aviles ES Music Teacher March 2 May 22, 2015 Substitute Rate On the motion by Mr. D Agostino, seconded by Mrs. Knaub, and carried unanimously, Be It Resolved that the Riverside Township Board of Education hereby approves a rate of $85 per day for Scott Sheppard, the substitute serving on a daily basis in middle school Math 7 th grade, replacing Mary Steinhauer, beginning December 2, 2014 through January 9, Salary Adjustment On the motion by Mr. D Agostino, seconded by Mrs. Knaub, and carried unanimously, Be It Resolved that the Riverside Township Board of Education hereby approves the salary adjustment for Adam Thompson, Maintenance Worker, for the school year from $48,573 to $48,123 to reflect the Black Seal License expiration from July 1, 2014 December 31, 2014.

Abolish Policy On the motion by Mr. D Agostino, seconded by Mrs. Reale, and carried unanimously, Be It Resolved that the Riverside Township Board of Education hereby abolishes Policy #1522 School Level Planning. STUDENTS Home Instruction On the motion by Mrs. Reale, seconded by Mr. D Agostino, and carried unanimously, Be It Resolved that the Riverside Township Board of Education hereby approves the following home instruction for the school year. Field Trip France & Spain 2016 On the motion by Mrs. Reale, seconded by Mr. D Agostino, and carried unanimously, Be It Resolved that the Riverside Township Board of Education hereby approves the field trip request for Spanish & French students to travel to France and Spain on June 23, 2016 July 2, 2016, contingent upon purchase of foreign travel insurance. HIB On the motion by Mrs. Reale, seconded by Mr. D Agostino, and carried unanimously, Be It Resolved that the Riverside Township Board of Education hereby approves the Harassment, Intimidation and Bullying report for November 2014 as attached. PROGRAM School Calendar On the motion by Mr. Holak, seconded by Mr. D Agostino, and carried unanimously, Be It Resolved that the Riverside Township Board of Education hereby approves the school calendar for the school year as attached.
