1 POSITION DESCRIPTION Position Title Investment Analyst Date: November 2014 Group: Reports to: Employment Status: WA Super Investment Manager Full time 12 month Fixed Term SECTION 1 CORPORATE PROFILE WA Super is a leading industry fund servicing approximately 43,000 members, predominately within the local government sector and including some 20 percent outside of the local government sector, funds under management in excess of $2b. POSITION SUMMARY The Investment Analyst is primarily responsible for the provision of investment analytics to enhance the returns on funds managed and monitoring different aspects of portfolio performance, as required.

2 The Investment Analyst will:» Assist with regular reporting on all investment activities involved in, being responsible for their monitoring and performance.» Implement investment decisions of the Board/CEO in line with investment and operational Objectives.» Ensure Consultants and Fund Managers meet required performance standards and adhere to Fund processes, systems and compliance requirements.» Ensures all manager documentation and agreements are kept up to date and complete.» Researches competitor investment options/products as required.» Assist with the regular reporting to Fund members covering investment activities and performance.» Assist with asset allocation and liquidity monitoring and portfolio rebalancing.» Ensure all appropriate risk management measures are in place for internally managed portfolios. SECTION 2 KEY WORKING RELATIONSHIPS INTERNAL EXTERNAL Investment Manager The Board of Trustees, the Investment Committee and the Chief Executive Officer The Finance and Operations team and the Risk and Compliance team. Business Unit Managers and Staff Suppliers to the Fund, including investment consultants, the custodian and investment managers. Regulatory authorities including APRA, ASIC and the ATO Peer funds, including Vision Super. Relevant Superannuation and Financial Services Industry Associations including, ASFA, FSC and FEAL. 3 SECTION 3 KEY RESULT AREAS AND KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS KRA BEHAVIOURAL DESCRIPTORS KPI 3.1 Custody Transition» Assist with all administrative, reporting, data provision and documentation requirements of transition of investment portfolio to custody. Custodian transition implemented working effectively by 30 September Investment Committee Reporting 3.3 Portfolio Management» Assist with the timely preparation and submission of reports to the Board: Monthly Performance Reports Risk Reporting Commentary on Consultant Reports» Management of the portfolio in accordance with of the Fund s investment policies» Prepare rebalancing recommendations Delivered monthly and as directed by Delivered monthly and as directed by 3.4 Investment Management» Management of internally managed assets including cash and property. 3.5 Analysis» Analyse a variety of investment portfolio and risk issues including: Peer funds Liquidity Implications of investment decisions on portfolio characteristics The Fund s investments are consistent with its investment policies. Performance of internally managed assets. Delivered quarterly and as directed by 3.6 Human Resources 3.7 Personal development» Adhere to & promote the company (icare) values;» Adhere to company policies and procedures in relation to human resources, e.g. Code of Conduct, Communications & Media policies.» Maintain propriety and undertake annual training requirements to maintain Responsible Person fitness; and» Undertake self-development activities to keep abreast of current industry trend and maintain relevant professional membership(s); and» Complete a minimum of 40 hours of Kaplan online training per year. SECTION 5 MAJOR CHALLENGES Short Term (up to 6 months) Medium Term (6 to 12 months) Long Term (at least 12 months) Assist with and co-ordinate as required the transition of WA Super s investments to custody. Assist with tender process for Investment Consulting. Contribute to the successful implementation of custody based operating model. Develop and implement models, processes and procedures for the management of the WA Super investment portfolio relevant to the contemporary operating environment. Enhance performance reporting and monitoring for the Investment Committee. Enhancement of internal investment risk and portfolio management. SECTION 6 COMPETENCY PROFILE Critical Competencies (skills, attitudes, abilities, motivations critical to successful performance)» Highly computer literate.» Sound quantitative skills and capacity to develop models.» Strong attention to detail and numerical accuracy.» Strong written communication skills.» Ability to analyse problems, performance and risk and identify courses of action» Self-starter and ability to work independently Qualifications (formal, recognized qualifications/professional memberships)» Tertiary qualifications in a relevant field (finance, economics, commerce)» Post-graduate qualifications will be highly regarded» Continue to meet the fit and proper standard pursuant to the relevant provisions of the Superannuation Industry (Supervision) legislation and board policy.» Australian Federal Police Clearance

5 Experience (include area and level/significance of experience required)» At least 2 years working experience within the financial services industry.» Development of analytical models.» Producing periodic, quantitative based reporting.» Investment performance reporting.» Analysis of investment opportunities.» Experience in working with custodians highly regarded.» Experience in the superannuation industry or related financial services environment highly regarded. Knowledge (technical, management, industry/sector knowledge)» Understanding of investment performance measurement and reporting including attribution analysis.» Understanding of financial investment management principles and practices, including related risk management principles and practices.» Demonstrable interest and enthusiasm for investing, financial markets and market trends.» Broad understanding of superannuation fund management principles and practices and particularly those related to investment management and investment services.» Basic understanding of corporate governance principles, risk management concepts, compliance requirements and concepts (desirable).
