CanTeen is a national support organisation for year olds who cope with cancer in their family. Through CanTeen, they learn to explore and deal with feelings about cancer, connect with other young people in the same boat and if they have been diagnosed themselves, we also provide specialist, youthspecific treatment teams. Our Direct Marketing team (DM), are responsible for recruiting and growing support for CanTeen s work from individual members of the public through a wide range of channels, including Face-to-Face, online, DRTV, direct mail, telemarketing and digital media. Face to Face has been the main acquisition channel of regular giving supporters over the past 7 years. Our strategy has recently moved to a more diversified approach to acquire new supporters through other channels such as telemarketing lead generation, online, direct mail and DRTV. The Marketing and Fundraising division has an ambitious fundraising strategy to optimise the amount of funds we raise for young people living with cancer. This role will play a key role in delivering the supporters acquisition work and help us reach our challenging targets. The 2016 Direct Marketing income target is $25 million (of which $5.5 million is the acquisition target). We are looking for a candidate who can satisfy the below criteria: Tertiary qualification in Marketing or a related field will be highly regarded; At least 1-2 years direct marketing experience (Not for Profit experience will be well regarded); Superior project management skills, with well-developed analytical, problem solving and decision making skills; Demonstrated understanding of the critical success factors of direct marketing programs; A track record of effectiveness in achieving performance targets; Leadership and Management; Strong customer focus, relationship-building skills; Strong analytical and numeracy skills; Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines; Excellent interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders; An enthusiastic team player who will contribute to our collaborative team culture. 2 Job Title: Employment Type: Department/Team: Reporting to: Positions reporting into this role: Direct Marketing Specialist Acquisition Full Time Direct Marketing, Marketing and Fundraising National Direct Marketing Manager None Position in the organisation: This position sits in the Direct Marketing (DM) Team and works alongside the Direct Marketing Specialist (Retention). Both positions are reporting to a National Direct Marketing Manager. Purpose of the position: Direct Marketing (DM) is responsible for recruiting and growing support for CanTeen s work from individual members of the public through a wide range of channels, including Face-to-Face, online, DRTV, direct mail, telemarketing and digital media. To drive sustainable income and supporter growth through an innovative, world class acquisition program portfolio. This includes management of acquisition programs to recruit cash and regular giving supporters using a range of channels including: Face to Face, Direct Mail, Telemarketing, DRTV and digital; 2. To lead and develop supporters acquisition activities, in particular a plan to maximise net income using a range of channels; 3. To manage the relevant partnerships with external agencies including face to face suppliers, data vendors, telemarketing agency, printers and mailing house on a day to day basis to deliver campaigns that successfully raise fund from individuals; 4. To work closely with the Supporter Relations Team to effectively deliver outstanding supporter care particularly throughout all acquisition activities.

3 Responsibilities: 1. Planning and Strategy Contribute to the planning process, taking responsibility for achieving the acquisition budget and taking a lead in reporting and reviewing campaigns when necessary; Responsible for direct marketing campaigns analysis to improve results of all acquisition channels. Working with an external data analyst to ensure analysis that contributes to the objectives of the direct marketing team. 2. Activities Responsible for project managing and producing direct marketing acquisition campaigns from concept to results analysis from a full range of acquisition channels in line with planned budgets and targets and ensuring campaign deadlines are met; This will include training Face to Face and telemarketing fundraisers, briefing agencies, copywriting, overseeing artwork development, developing telemarketing scripts and fundraising propositions, liaising with external agencies on media buying and /or liaising with Data team to do complex data selections, data segmentation, briefing Supporter Relations Team on upcoming campaigns and donations processing Produce end of campaign reports to ensure learnings are captured for future planning. Analyse the effectiveness of activities and making key recommendations for future action; Work with Supporter Relations Team to ensure high quality data maintenance to maximise supporter journey and management of campaign tracking to allow accurate analysis of the direct marketing campaigns; Work with Direct Marketing Manager to monitor budgets on a monthly basis and forecast income and expenditure, including reporting on monthly budget variances; Contribute to the preparation of direct marketing budgets and tracking of income and expenses including managing invoices; Research and develop new supporter acquisition propositions, creative ideas and campaigns to maximise cash and regular giving supporter lifetime value; Keep abreast of philanthropic market trends, including sector benchmarking standards, competitor analysis and identify opportunities for innovation. Understand and ensure adherence to all industry and regulatory standards. 3. Relationships Responsible for working closely with other members of the Direct Marketing Team to ensure all Direct Marketing acquisition activities are co-ordinated and donor centric;

4 Develop excellent relationship with other Marketing and Fundraising team members, Division staff, other National office staff and Members/ Young people that we support (where appropriate), external stakeholders and general public; Manage day to day relationships with external agencies ensuring income target is achieved, accurate and timely reporting delivered, Work In Progress meetings conducted and a smooth working relationship established.
