Dates fr this meeting will be determined befre the Nvember 2013 meeting in St. Paul. The Executive Cmmittee will review and make recmmendatins fr change t bth the plicy manual and the bylaws based n the standardizatin f the OHC Exam and the changes that will be necessary t ur existing plicies. It was decided that the Nvember Cuncil meeting will be in St. Paul, MN with cmmittee and Cuncil meetings held at the 3M ffice in St. Paul. The meeting will take place Nvember st. The CD wrkshp will take place n Friday, Nvember 22 nd. Diane DeGaetan has resigned frm the Cuncil due t additinal nn vlunteer respnsibilities at Merial. Elaine Brwn was apprved t replace Ms. DeGaetan as the representative frm AAOHN. Ms. Brwn will attend the Nvember Cuncil meeting. Financial Advisry Cmmittee The 2012 audit was reviewed and apprved Investments cntinue t d very well.

2 Page 2 f 5 OHC/CD Cmmittee The CD cmmittee alng with the OHC cmmittee established a cut scre fr the new standardized exam. The exam will be scred using a scaling methd. The OHC and CD cmmittee spent 1.5 days develping plicies and prcedures fr the new exam implementatin. Standardized Exam Several decisins were made regarding the standardized exam. The exam will be mandatry by June 1, A select grup f Curse Directrs (thse wh vlunteer) will be invited t participate in a sft launch beginning in August (2013). CDs invited t participate in the sft launch will be thse that have classes scheduled between August 1 and Octber 4. CDs will receive a cpy f the exam blueprint s that changes can be made t their curse curriculum if necessary. All CDs will receive a cpy f the exam blueprint by the end f the year. Thse CDs wh agree t participate in the sft launch will nt be allwed t g back t the current way f administering the exam. Thse invlved with the sft launch will be asked t critique the prcess and prvide feedback t Cmmittee members t perfect the prcess befre we g live in Cuncil members will review the results f the sft launch exams scres and item perfrmance during the Nvember Cuncil meeting. Exam administratin Fees CDs will nw be prctrs f the exam. The exam will nt be pen bk. CDs will send all sealed exam bklets t fr scring. Exam results will be shared with curse participants thrugh the administrative ffice after the curse. OHCs will be ntified electrnically f their results. OHCs wh d nt pass the exam will be required t take the exam at a testing site. The first retake is free. If a secnd retest is necessary the OHC will incur a fee. If an OHC des nt pass the secnd retest he/she will be required t re-take the curse. N decisins were made as t hw lng a candidate has t retake exam. Exam eligibility If OHCs fail either practicum they will nt be allwed t take the exam. 3 Page 3 f 5 Marketing Cmmittee Jim Crawfrd is the new chair fr the Marketing cmmittee replacing Diane DeGaetan. Brchure develpment Revisins are being dne t the general marketing brchure. The Prfessinal Supervisr brchure is in draft review. The Emplyer brchure is in the develpment stage. Publicatins Cmmittee--Website The new website is expected t launch this summer. The new site will prvide mre infrmatin and mre interactivity fr users. Website cmmittee members will meet with staff n a weekly basis until the website is launched Mbile and ipad upgrades will be reviewed within the next six mnths. Website will nw include passwrd prtected areas fr OHC, PS, and CD accunts. nw has a Facebk and LinkedIn page as well as a Twitter accunt. Items t be develped: Emplyer sectin, interactive OHC curse map, prtal fr OHC exam review. Publicatins Cmmittee Update Newsletter The first nline issue f Update was mailed at the end f May. The next issue is scheduled fr release at the end f July. Future Issue Cntent Recmmendatins Editr Tny Jseph will include a retrspective f the past 20 years f Update in the 2013 issues. Each issue will include an article n different tpics that have changed r remained the same ver the past 20 years Calendar will be develped in July Publicatins Cmmittee-- Manual 5 th Editin Plans cntinue t g well fr the 5 th Editin Basic Manual. Since Nvember Editrial Assistant hired t edit all chapters and frmalize all chapters t ne vice. Weekly meetings have started with Editrs, ED and Editrial Assistant. Timeline has been develped t cmplete the Basic versin f the manual by December 20, 2013 fr release January 1, All chapters within the Basic versin f the 5 th Editin manual will link t the OHC exam blueprint. This versin f the manual will be marketed as a cmpanin t the OHC exam and sld at an affrdable price fr bth OHC and Curse Directr Nise Cmmittee 12 peple have nw registered fr the nline Nise Curse. Kim Riegel will wrk with s new Marketing representative t generate additinal enthusiasm abut the curse. Cmmittee Prjects related t the Nise Curse Finalize evaluatin and pre curse survey Cntinue t market the Nise Curse

4 Page 4 f 5 Wrk with the AIHA Nise Cmmittee that is wrking n the develpment f a registry r certificatin fr Nise specialists. wuld prpse that AIHA use the Nise Curse as a resurce fr their exam. Cmmittee prjects related t the Nise Vide In Nvember 2013 the Cuncil tasked the cmmittee with the develpment f a vide that wuld replace the Nise lecture f an OHC curse. The vide wuld be similar t the Anatmy vide. Cmmittee Respnse Vide will have three sectins that will be 15 minutes each. Each sectin will address ne f the exam blueprint cmpnents The vide cncept is meant t be interactive. After each 15 minute sectin the CD will be instructed t pause fr discussin. The vide will take tw years t develp By Nvember f 2013 cmmittee will have an utline fr Cuncil review. By May f 2014 cmmittee will have the slides cmpleted fr this sectin. By Nvember f 2014 the cmmittee will present a draft fr Cuncil review t include animatin and demnstratins By May f 2015 vide will be final and ready t distribute t CDs Prfessinal Supervisr Cmmittee Changes t curse eligibility Any health care prfessinal can attend but will nt be eligible fr certificatin unless they are a licensed, certified audilgist, MD r DO. Audilgists r resident physicians can als take the curse. They can take the exam up t three years after taking the curse as lng as they meet the requirement f tw years f experience in ccupatinal hearing. Changes t the fee 2014 there will be a curse fee and a certificatin fee, currently the curse fee includes the certificatin fee. Instructrs Anthny Jseph and Jhn Merkley were added t the faculty rster. Future Curses August 23 rd in Denver Nvember 7 th in Bnita Springs, FL (pre cnference wrkshp t the ADA meeting) May 1, 2014 in San Antni, TX (ACOEM pst cnference wrkshp) Ptential Curses has been apprached by the Peruvian Occupatinal Medical Sciety; they are interested in teaching a PS curse in Lima, Peru in Octber. A prpsal is being develped. Curse wuld be tw days versus ne due t translatin Dr. J. Mrales wuld be added t the faculty t discuss Latin American regulatins. Other updates Andy (Jhn) Merkley is wrking n the PS Marketing brchure with Eric Evensn. New Business NHCA/ Webinar Series NHCA and are wrking n the develpment f new series that wuld cnsist f 5 presentatins. The theme: Hw t Manage Effective Hearing Cnservatin Prgrams.

Kim Riegel and Charlie Mritz (INCE) are ging t initiate a shrt curse Principles f Hearing Cnservatin Prgrams as part f NOISE CON 2014 r 2015 meeting. Exhibiting pprtunities at Natinal r Reginal meetings AAO-HNS Richard Kpke resigned as a Cuncil member. AAO-HNS will need t replace Dr. Kpke befre the Nvember meeting.
