The Enterprise CAL Suite includes all f the cmpnents f the Cre CAL Suite. This means custmers interested in the cmpnents unique t the Enterprise CAL Suite d nt need t license bth the Cre CAL Suite and the Enterprise CAL Suite. Custmers can acquire the Enterprise CAL Suite upfrnt r as a step-up frm the Cre CAL Suite. What s New in This Brief This brief replaces a previus versin published in April It has been updated t reflect current prduct versins. Details CAL Suites A CAL Suite is a single license that prvides use rights equivalent t multiple licenses. Like ther CALs, CAL Suites can be licensed n either a per-user r per-device basis. CAL Suites simplify licensing and tracking by reducing the number f licenses necessary t access Micrsft servers. CAL Suites may als prvide pricing that is mre attractive than licensing the equivalent cmpnents individually. Hwever, since a suite is a single license the sum f individual CALs CAL Suites cannt be divided amng mre than ne user r device. Nvember

2 CAL Suites smetimes prvide use rights equivalent t licenses that are nt CALs. Fr instance, the Enterprise CAL Suite prvides rights t several management server prducts and several nline services subscriptins. In all cases, under a CAL Suite, the custmer s use rights with respect t a particular prduct r nline service are the same as if that cmpnent was licensed separately. The nly exceptin is that bth per-user and per-device ptins are available in CAL Suites even when bth ptins are nt available utside the suite. Fr instance, Micrsft System Center Cnfiguratin Manager 2012 R2 has per-device use rights as part f Cre CAL Suite and Enterprise CAL Suite, even thugh it is ffered under a per-perating system envirnment license individually. Use Rights Because CAL Suites cntain licenses fr prducts that are released independently, CAL Suites are versin-less. CAL Suites are nly ffered with Sftware Assurance cverage, and accrdingly give custmers the right t use the mst recent versin f every prduct in the suite. If Sftware Assurance cverage lapses and the custmer is vested with perpetual rights, use rights are determined by the latest versin f the prducts in effect prir t the lapse in cverage. Fr example, if a custmer s Sftware Assurance cverage fr the Cre CAL Suite expired n Octber 1, 2012, the custmer has perpetual rights equivalent t the mst recent versin f the Cre CAL Suite s cmpnents as f that date. This custmer wuld nt have rights t versins f cmpnents released after Octber 1, 2012 r t prducts added t the CAL Suite after that date. Nte that service cmpnents f the suites d expire if Sftware Assurance is allwed t lapse. Cre CAL Suite and Enterprise CAL Suite The Cre CAL Suite is equivalent t the fllwing licenses: Windws Server CAL, Micrsft SharePint Server Standard CAL, Micrsft Exchange Server Standard CAL, Micrsft System Center Cnfiguratin Manager Client Management License, System Center Endpint Prtectin (antivirus client and subscriptin service) Micrsft Lync Server Standard CAL The Enterprise CAL Suite is equivalent t the fllwing licenses: All f the cmpnents f the Cre CAL Suite (listed abve) Exchange Server Enterprise CAL with Services* Exchange Online with Archiving fr Exchange Server SharePint Server Enterprise CAL Lync Server Enterprise CAL Windws Server Active Directry Rights Management Services CAL System Center Client Management Suite System Center Operatins Manager Client Management License System Center Service Manager Client Management License System Center Data Prtectin Manager Client Management License System Center Orchestratr (frmerly Opalis) Client Management License *Includes Data Lss Preventin and Exchange Online Prtectin Nvember

Nte that many Cre CAL cmpnents are base CALs, while certain cmpnents f Enterprise CAL Suite are additive CALs, fr which base CALs are a prerequisite. Figure 1: Cre CAL Suite and Enterprise CAL Suite cmpnents Management Server Rights The Cre CAL Suite prvides rights equivalent t the System Center 2012 R2 Cnfiguratin Manager Client Management License, and Enterprise CAL Suite prvides rights equivalent t the System Center 2012 R2 Client Management Suite. CAL Suites licensed n a per-device basis extend these rights t multiple perating system envirnments deplyed n the same device, cnsistent with Server/CAL per-device licensing. Other Management Server licensing restrictins particular t these prducts must be bserved, such as System Center Cnfiguratin Manager Client Management License s limitatin t systems running client perating systems. Management Server Licenses are nt required under System Center 2012 R2. See the System Center website fr mre infrmatin abut Client Management Licenses and Server Management Licenses. Subscriptin Services Cmpnents The Cre CAL and Enterprise CAL Suite include services as cmpnents. While custmers nrmally subscribe t nline services separately, the Enterprise CAL Suite services cmpnent subscriptin is integrated with the license cst. As with a lapse in an nline services subscriptin, with a lapse in Sftware Assurance cverage n a CAL Suite, rights t access the nline services cmpnents will lapse as well. As f April 1, 2013, a license fr the Enterprise CAL Suite with active Sftware Assurance cverage includes the rights t Exchange Online Archiving fr Exchange Server, Data Lss Preventin, and Exchange Online Prtectin. 4 T begin using these services, cntact yur Micrsft Partner, wh can begin the prvisining prcess required t activate each service. Obtaining Enterprise CAL Suite Licenses and Equivalent Functinality Custmers may chse t license the Enterprise CAL Suite upfrnt r as a step-up frm Cre CAL Suite licenses. Having the Enterprise CAL Suite is like having bth the Cre CAL Suite and the cmpnents that are unique t the Enterprise CAL Suite. This means the custmer licensing the Enterprise CAL Suite is nt required t als maintain a separate Cre CAL Suite unlike the custmer wh is licensing the same prducts under individual licenses. All Enterprise CAL Suite cmpnents can be licensed independently frm the Enterprise CAL Suite. Fr instance, t license the Exchange Server Enterprise CAL functinality utside the Enterprise CAL Suite, a custmer must btain bth an Exchange Server Standard CAL (r Cre CAL Suite, which prvides equivalent rights t Exchange Server Standard CAL) and the Exchange Server Enterprise CAL. Alternatively, a custmer may btain rights equivalent t the Exchange Server Standard CAL and the Exchange Server Enterprise CAL by licensing nly the Enterprise CAL Suite, because it als prvides rights equivalent t all f the cmpnents f the Cre CAL Suite. 1 Micrsft Lync Server 2010 (Frmerly Micrsft Office Cmmunicatins Server) Licensing Changes Effective as f December 1, 2010 Fr Lync Server 2010, frmerly named Office Cmmunicatins Server (OCS), access t Enterprise vice wrklads are licensed thrugh the Lync Server 2010 Plus CAL (Plus CAL). Enterprise vice capabilities previusly available thrugh the OCS Enterprise CAL are nw nly available thrugh the Lync Server 2010 Plus CAL. Like the Enterprise CAL, the Plus CAL is an additive CAL, and can nly be purchased nce the Lync Server 2010 Standard CAL has been acquired. In ther wrds, bth the Lync Server 2010 Enterprise and Plus CALs are additive CALs, hwever, neither is a prerequisite fr the ther. The Lync Server 2010 Plus CAL is nt included with the Enterprise CAL Suite (Enterprise CAL Suite). The price fr the Lync Server 2010 Enterprise CAL has decreased t reflect the transfer f vice functinality t the Plus CAL. Custmers wh purchased the OCS Enterprise CAL r Enterprise CAL Suite after June 30, 2009, but befre the General Availability f Lync Server 2010 n December 1, 2010 and maintained active Sftware Assurance (SA) have access rights equivalent t thse rights under the Lync Server 2010 Plus CAL. Custmers need t separately renew their SA fr the Lync Server 2010 Plus CAL at their first renewal perid after the Lync Server 2010 launch n December 1, 2010, if they chse t keep the Lync Server 2010 Vice CAL SA benefits. Custmers wh purchased an OCS Enterprise CAL r the Enterprise CAL Suite befre July 1, 2009, and maintained active SA have access rights equivalent t thse rights under the Lync Server Plus CAL fr tw releases, Lync Server 2010 and Lync Server Custmers need t separately renew SA fr Lync Server Plus CAL at their first renewal perid after the Lync Server 2013 release in rder t maintain their SA benefits. This grandfathering plicy addresses cncerns abut the transitin and prvides sufficient time fr deplyment and budgeting. Custmers wh d nt have r maintain active SA n their OCS Enterprise CAL r the Enterprise CAL Suite will nt be qualified fr either grandfathering ffer and will be required t purchase the Lync Server Plus CAL t acquire the vice functinality. The Enterprise CAL Suite prvides user rights equivalent t a variety f technlgies acrss Micrsft SharePint, Unified Cmmunicatins, System Center, and Frefrnt. An Enterprise CAL is a distinct license that describes specific use rights t specific features fr SharePint, Exchange, and Lync Server. Fr mre infrmatin, refer t the Micrsft Vlume Licensing Brief Base and Additive Client Access Licenses: An Explanatin. 2. Can I apply an Enterprise CAL Suite Step-up t a Cre CAL Suite with expired Sftware Assurance cverage? N. Yu must have active Sftware Assurance t benefit frm the ability t migrate lwer editin fferings t higher editins, like migrating frm the Cre CAL Suite t the Enterprise CAL Suite. Nvember

6 3. If I can step up frm the Cre CAL Suite t the Enterprise CAL Suite, can I step up frm cmpnents f the suites int ne f the CAL Suites? While there are nt prgrammatic step-up licenses frm ne r mre individual cmpnents t the full suite, Micrsft will prvide custmized migratin slutins. Please ask yur Micrsft Vlume Licensing representative fr migratin ptins. 4. D the Cre CAL Suite and Enterprise CAL Suite prvide dwngrade rights fr their equivalent cmpnents? Yes. Unlike use rights fr mst prduct suites, the use rights fr the Cre CAL Suite and Enterprise CAL Suite permit custmers t dwngrade cmpnents individually. The dwngrade rights fr the cmpnents f the Cre CAL Suite and Enterprise CAL Suite are the same as thse fr the individual cmpnents. Fr instance, an Enterprise CAL Suite license may be used t access an Exchange Server 2010 server. 5. Des the Enterprise CAL Suite prvide the right t Micrsft Server licenses? The Enterprise CAL Suite prvides use rights t the apprpriate CALs and Client Management Licenses. Custmers must still purchase the matching server license t each accmpanying Enterprise CAL Suite cmpnent. Nte: the Frefrnt Threat Management Web Prtectin Subscriptin functinality fund within the Frefrnt Prtectin Suite requires deplyment and purchase f the Frefrnt Threat Management Gateway Server. 6. Des the Enterprise CAL Suite prvide the right t access all Micrsft Server Prducts? N. The Enterprise CAL Suite prvides rights equivalent t a brad selectin f Micrsft server prducts t prvide infrmatin wrkers access t a variety f functinality, including cmmunicatin, cllabratin, presence, synchrnus cmmunicatins (IM), enterprise cntent management, infrmatin rights management, client security, server and Web security, client and server real-time mnitring and updates, cnferencing, Webbased frms slutins, and business data cnnectrs. Hwever, the Enterprise CAL Suite des nt prvide rights equivalent t ther CALs, including CRM and SQL Server. 7. Hw des the Enterprise CAL Suite relate t the Enterprise Desktp platfrm ffering? The Enterprise CAL Suite, the Windws Enterprise perating system, and Micrsft Office Prfessinal Plus cmprise the Enterprise Desktp platfrm ffering. 8. Can I license the Enterprise CAL Suite s cmpnents individually? Yes. All Enterprise CAL Suite cmpnents are available fr individual purchase. 9. What server editins d CAL suites prvide access t? Fr instance, des the Enterprise CAL Suite prvide access t Exchange Server Standard Editin r Exchange Server Enterprise Editin? Like ther CALs, the Enterprise CAL Suite and Cre CAL Suite licenses wrk with any accmpanying editin f the server that requires a CAL. Therefre, Enterprise CAL Suite and Cre CAL Suite license access t bth Exchange Server Standard Editin and Exchange Server Enterprise Editin. 10. Des the Enterprise CAL Suite include rights t access Micrsft SQL Server? N. SQL Server CALs must be btained separately frm the Enterprise CAL Suite r Cre CAL Suite. 11. My Sftware Assurance cst fr Enterprise CAL Suite lks higher than the nrmal rate. Has Micrsft raised the cst f Sftware Assurance? N. Online Services subscriptin fees are reflected in the Enterprise CAL Suite s annual cst, which includes bth nline services subscriptin csts and Sftware Assurance. These csts are part f bth the new and renewal fferings and, as a result, the relatinship between the new and renewal price varies frm that nrmally assciated with ur License and Sftware Assurance fferings. 7 12. Will vice (VIP) capability be available in the Enterprise CAL Suite? The release f Lync Server 2010 (frmerly Office Cmmunicatins Server) requires a Plus CAL t access VIP functinality. Sme f the vice functinality that was in the Office Cmmunicatins Server 2007 R2 Enterprise CAL is in the Lync Server 2010 Plus CAL. Enterprise CAL Suite custmers and custmers wh purchase the Enterprise CAL Suite between July 1, 2009 and December 1, 2010 receive the Lync Server 2010 Plus CAL with active Sftware Assurance. Enterprise CAL Suite custmers wh purchased befre July 1st, 2009 and maintained active Sftware Assurance receive upgrade rights t Lync Server 2010 and Lync Server 2013 Plus CALs. 13. What is Lync Server Standard CAL? Lync Server Standard CAL is the next generatin and new branding f Office Cmmunicatins Server (OCS) Standard CAL. It enables Instant Messaging (IM), Presence, and PC-t-PC vice/vide calling. Find ut mre by reviewing the Lync Licensing Guide. 14. What is System Center Endpint Prtectin? System Center Endpint Prtectin (frmerly Frefrnt Endpint Prtectin Manager), simplifies and imprves endpint security. It builds n System Center Cnfiguratin Manager, allwing custmers t use their existing client management infrastructure t deply, mnitr, and manage endpint prtectin. This shared infrastructure lwers wnership csts while prviding imprved visibility and cntrl ver endpint management and security. System Center Endpint Prtectin is als a cmpnent f the Frefrnt Prtectin Suite, which is part f the Enterprise CAL Suite. 15. Are there any price adjustments fr custmers wh already wn the Enterprise CAL Suite, which cntains Cre CAL, System Center Endpint Prtectin, and Lync Server Standard CAL? Since Enterprise CAL Suite cntains Cre CAL, there is n change t the cmpsitin r pricing f Enterprise CAL Suite 16. If I purchased Cre CAL Suite prir t August 1, 2011, d subsequent true-ups f Cre CAL n the same enrllment qualify fr rights t the new technlgy added?
