1 CALIFORNIA HIGHER EDUCATION SUSTAINABILITY CONFERENCE 2015 Sponsorship Opportunities Hosted by San Francisco State University July 20 24th, 2015 Invitation to Sponsor California has long been a think tank for innovation in a variety of fields including the sustainability movement. In this vein, The California Higher Education Sustainability Conference (CHESC) and host San Francisco State University invite you to join us for our fourteenth annual conference, July th, We seek to bring a conference event which is interactive, informative, and provides clear take away value to our sponsors and all participants. We plan to deliver this by fostering bona fide opportunities to dialogue with industry, institutional, and practitioner leaders and peers for best practices and glimpses of future developments. This sustainability conference is a rare opportunity to increase visibility for your company to a statewide audience representing all four systems of higher education. This is the only conference which encompasses the University of California, California State University, California Community Colleges, and private and independent colleges and universities as organizers, speakers, and attendees. The steering committee includes representation from the UC Office of the President; CSU and California Community College Chancellor s Office; and private and independent colleges and university leaders. Taken together, this is one of the largest higher educational assemblies in the world in terms of size and reach.

2 Buying Power of California Higher Education The California Community Colleges comprise the largest postsecondary system of education in the world. Approximately 2.6 million students are enrolled each year at 72 districts encompassing 112 campuses, 70 approved off campus centers and 23 separately reported district offices. These assets include 23,879 acres of land, 5,052 buildings, and 71 million gross square feet of space that includes 46 million assignable square feet of space. The system also has numerous off campus outreach centers at various facilities. The California Community College System s 2012 five year capital outlay plan projects a total facilities need of approximately $30.9 billion. This unmet need includes the construction of an additional 15.4 million assignable square feet (asf) for new facilities to meet enrollment growth and 27.6 million asf for the modernization of existing facilities. Also, the CCC system s 2012 five year scheduled maintenance plan projects a total need of approximately $981,000,000. The University of California expects to invest a total of approximately $6.77 billion in capital construction projects between the periods of and The California State University expects a $6.5 billion capital outlay for facilities over the next five years. We are going into our fourteenth year and have maintained consistent attendance at that level for the past several years. Our attendee base represents the diverse stakeholders who work on campus sustainability projects, with over 70% of our attendees representing a campus in California. Through our conference, sponsors and exhibitors can raise visibility for the innovative products and services they offer to Directors, Energy Managers, and Purchasing Officers as well as to the many other key stakeholders who may be involved in purchasing, recommending, or implementing projects. 2 P age

The CA Higher Education Sustainability Conference does not accept corporate sponsorships for certain categories of products and services, including illegal drugs and drug paraphernalia, weapons, tobacco products or establishments, sexual escort services, or check cashing services. 5 Guide to Sponsorship Benefits Naming Opportunities CHESC offers sponsors the opportunity to associate their support with a particular event within the conference. The following list highlights those unique opportunities Awards Reception and Banquet (Platinum Sponsorship): Your company will be acknowledged and thanked in all publications and communications distributed by the conference regarding the awards banquet. Your company may provide signage to be displayed as attendees enter the reception and banquet. A representative from your company will be invited to speak for up to five minutes during the Awards Ceremony. Field Trip (Silver, Gold, or Platinum Sponsorships): Your company will be able to choose a location for a conference field trip and be a full partner in developing the content for that field trip. Sponsorship does not guarantee field trip attendance, as this is dependent on the preferences of attendees. Conference organizers will promote the trip through the conference website and updates about the conference. VIP Reception (Gold Sponsorships): Your company will be thanked in all publications and communications distributed by the conference regarding the VIP Reception. Invitations to the VIP Reception will include recognition of your company. Your company may provide signage to be displayed as attendees enter the reception. Conference proceedings (Gold Sponsorships): The majority of the PowerPoint presentations from the conference will be posted online post conference. These presentations will include one slide at the beginning of the presentation which acknowledges your company s support. This slide will include a logo and website address. Keynotes (Opening and Closing) (Silver Sponsorships): Your company will be thanked in all publications and communications distributed by the conference regarding the keynotes. Your company may provide signage to be displayed as attendees enter the keynote. A representative from your company will be invited to speak for up to five minutes during the keynote. Materials (Lanyards, Staff and volunteer T shirts, Pens, Notepads, and Tote bags) (Blue Sponsorships): Your logo will appear in black and white on the respective item. All items other than the T shirts will be distributed to all attendees. CHESC Attendee listing (Free to Silver, Gold, Platinum Sponsorships): Access to our complete attendee listing will be provided free to these sponsors. The listing will be be available for purchase by other sponsors/exhibitors. 8 Exhibit Show The Exhibit Show will be located on the West Campus Green, within 600ft of all buildings where core conference sessions will be held. Coffee, lunch, and catered breaks provided by CHESC will only be served in the exhibit show. All booths will be in a large tent complex. There will be heating in the tent. A standard booth space will be 10ft by 10ft and separated by pipe and drape. All exhibit booths come with a power strip, up to 10kw of electricity at a booth (additional power needs will be addressed on a case by case basis), internet access, an 8ft table with linen, and two chairs. Additional furniture and lighting requests can be accommodated, though some cost may be associated with further requests. 24hr security will be provided to the show for its duration. Booth Selection This year, we will be dividing booths into four categories: First Class, Premium, Deluxe, and Basic, in accordance with how valuable their location is within the exhibit show. Booths will be assigned as payment is received within these four categories. Booth Types; Which Type are You? Innovative ($1,800): This year we are offering a lower booth rate for companies that have at least one member of their company s development team participate as booth staff. If your company is interested in talking about new technologies and services that will be available in the future (or even new versions of existing technologies), please register for this booth type. The exhibit hall map will highlight which booths are Innovative and Innovative booths will be given First Class booth selection. Interactive ($2,100): We are dedicated to ensuring that there is heavy traffic in the exhibit hall this year. In order to do this, we need the help of our exhibitors to make the exhibit hall a dynamic and engaging space. If you have any of the following interactive elements, you are eligible for the $2,100 rate: Demonstrations of equipment/technologies Complimentary on site consultations A ride and drive program Serving samples of food/beverages that your company sells (this should go beyond distribution of pre packaged goods) Participation in the passport system and/or badge programs is not enough for a company to earn the interactive label since these are organized by the conference. We are looking for interactive activities that go beyond the standard fare. If you can think of an interactive activity not noted above, we are open to adding other options to this list. 9 Passport System The 14 th Annual California Higher Education Sustainability Conference will feature an exciting new platform to engage attendees and exhibitors: The CHESC 2015 Passport Program. This is a trafficgenerating platform to encourage and incentivize active participation, learning, and networking on the exhibit floor. Our fundamental goal is to highlight our industry partners through interactive engagement with relevant stakeholders. Badges Every attendee will receive a passport booklet upon arrival to the conference. This passport will display every participating exhibitor and their corresponding booth numbers under up to two personally chosen topic categories of the following: Student Oriented Transportation Custodial, Landscaping, and Facilities Maintenance Office Equipment and Supplies Dining and Catering Energy Efficiency Renewable Energy Construction, Renovations and Real Estate Consulting and Planning Education and Behavior Change Out of the Box Innovators (for anyone that doesn t fit in one of the above boxes. If you choose this category, your company will not be able to select any other categories.) The badges allow for high level stakeholders with minimal time to target their interests while also incentivizing broad participation. The goal of the attendee is to collect stamps to fill an entire category in order to gain a badge and the associated prizes. The only way an attendee can obtain a stamp is by visiting a booth and then answering a question about the product/service being highlighted at the booth or participating in an activity at the booth. This game or activity will be selected/designed by the company exhibiting. After the attendee engages with the booth, the exhibitor will provide a stamp. The Exhibit Show aims to highlight our interactive and interesting exhibitors. In order to participate in the Passport Program, an exhibitor can do something as simple as ask an attendee a question. Though, exhibitors may propose activities ranging from small games to technology demonstrations to draw in and keep attendees on the exhibit floor. Multi Level Prize System The CHESC 2015 Passport Program will excite attendees about attaining goals that align with their interests. Attendees will be given a category related prize when they gain the stamps for an entire 9 P age

10 category (e.g. a solar powered phone charger for Renewable Energy ). Also, as to not restrain an attendees who would like to visit a booths outside of the given category, for every five stamps (regardless of category) an attendee will be given one ticket for the CHESC Grand Prize Drawing. All tickets can be submitted to and prizes can be retrieved at the Registration booth. Deadline Exhibitors must choose their preferred categories and let us know how attendees will earn a stamp at their booth by the deadline of June 1 st, 2015 in order to participate. 10 P age
