5 For The Defense DRI s Flagship Publication As DRI s flagship publication for over 50 years, For The Defense (FTD) is the only national monthly magazine specifically written for and distributed to defense practitioners. Each issue contains in-depth, full-length, feature articles addressing crucial developments in the law and litigation practice. Articles are penned by top defense practitioners and experts from across the country on a variety of topics of interest to lawyers and others concerned with the defense of civil actions. Highlights and Special Sections DRI Committees and FTD Each issue of FTD is anchored by a collection of original writings prepared by members of one or more of DRI s Substantive Law Committees. These articles all fall within the practice interests of the particular committee and are published together along with a one-page message from the committee s chair that introduces the section and provides an update of committee projects and activities. On the Record Each month, FTD begins with the On the Record column. On the Record can be thought of as an editorial in which a DRI leader addresses the membership on DRI- related matters such as planning for the future, the role of the state and local defense organizations (SLDOs), legislative trends, the benefits of DRI membership or relationships between the organization and other industry groups. DRI News DRI News provides FTD s readers with timely information regarding the organization, our members and related education and networking activities. Examples of content typically featured in DRI News include Members on the Move, DRI s Calendar of Upcoming Events, Trends in Defense Law and reports on recent DRI seminars, regional meetings, etc. Affiliates in Action The Affiliates in Action column provides a regular report on recent meetings, projects and other activities of the various SLDOs whose interests are represented by the DRI state representatives and regional members of DRI s Board of Directors. 92% of DRI members receive most or some of their information from FTD DRI Media Kit

6 For The Defense DRI s Flagship Publication Center for Law and Public Policy In 2012, the leadership of DRI created the Center for Law and Public Policy to act as a think tank and the public voice of DRI on issues of importance to the defense bar. The Center, which works through three committees: Issues and Advocacy, Amicus, and External Policy Groups, provides a regular column for FTD to update DRI members on current issues and initiatives. Writers Corner Writers Corner is a monthly one-page column that provides the FTD readership with insights and advice on how defense attorneys can improve their professional writing style. Think Globally Think Globally tracks developments around the world that are of interest to international defense lawyers, as well as U.S. practitioners with internationally based clients. Diversity Advantage Diversity is a core value at DRI. One way that is demonstrated is through the DRI Diversity Committee s regular FTD column, Diversity Advantage, which highlights and embraces the innumerable benefits and contributions that the perspectives, backgrounds, cultures, and life experiences of a diverse membership provide. Defense Ethics and Professionalism The monthly, one-page Defense Ethics and Professionalism column is dedicated to educating FTD s readership, and the legal community as a whole, on the latest ethical issues facing defense counsel and their clients. 8 In-House Defense Quarterly Addressing the Needs of In-House Counsel DRI s national quarterly publication, In-House Defense Quarterly (IDQ), addresses the specific needs of in-house defense counsel and corporate legal executives.
