6 !" #$%$&'()&$*&+,(-./01&.,.%2'( The Hnrs Prgram in French/Spanish/Italian/Japanese and wuld require 15 curses in all, t be cmpleted with an average GPA f at least 3.7. The hnrs prgram wuld require tw additinal advanced (500-level) curses beynd what is required fr the jint majr: ne in and ne in the French, Spanish, Italian, r Japanese. One r bth f these additinal curses may instead be an Hnrs independent study prject undertaken under the directin f faculty in the relevant prgrams. Hnrs students will be encuraged t engage in research that deals with the linguistic prperties f the language f their specializatin, thereby prviding an experience in their senir year that allws fr a synthesis f the wrk they have dne in the tw disciplines. Detailed prpsals fr Hnrs independent study wrk must be submitted and apprved n later than six mnths prir t the anticipated beginning f the prject. A student may apply t the hnrs prgram n sner than the end f sphmre year and n later than the beginning f the spring semester f junir year. Fr admissin int the prgram, students must have cmpeted CAS LX 250 Intrductin t and at least ne f the cre linguistics curses (CAS LX 502 Semantics, CAS LX 510 Phnetics, CAS LX 522 Syntax I), as well as tw f the required curses fr French (necessarily including CAS LF 350), Spanish (necessarily including CAS LS 350), Italian (necessarily including CAS LI 350 r 351), r Japanese. Qualificatins fr admissin int the hnrs prgram include a GPA f at least 3.65 in all CAS curses and f 3.7 specifically in thse that satisfy the requirements fr the jint majr that the student has taken at the time f applicatin. Meetings f hnrs students (including hnrs students in all f the jint majrs with ) will take place at least several times each semester. Activities may include cllquia, as well as presentatins, questin-and-answer sessins, and panel discussins with BU faculty. In additin, we will maintain an list f hnrs students, and we will infrm them f ther events (bth at BU and in the Bstn area) that may be f interest. Students wh participate in the Hnrs prgram in French/Spanish/Italian/Japanese & wuld als be included in the activities f the Hnrs prgrams in the relevant language.
