1 Use these instructins if: Yu have a cmpleted initial unemplyment insurance claim n file with UI Benefits and Yu d nt have a NY.GOV ID Hw t create a NY.GOV ID Step 1: Frm the UI Benefits Online page, click the Use NY.Gv ID nw link t display the Sign In page. 2 After clicking the Create Accunt buttn, the Accunt Creatin page is displayed. Step 3: Yu must perfrm 5 Actins t create the NY.GOV ID. These 5 Actins are indicated at the tp f each screen, as shwn: As yu prgress thrugh the actins, the highlighted actin n the prgress bar will advance. Actin 1 Cnfirm Address. Prvide First Name, Middle Initial (ptinal 1 character nly) and Last Name. The first and last name can cntain nly letters and dashes (-), apstrphes ( ) r spaces in the middle f the name. If the first r last name des nt fllw these rules, an errr message will be displayed, and yu will have anther chance t crrect the infrmatin. 3 Prvide a valid address that yu can access t cllect . Valid simply means the address cnfrms t the standard frmat f xxxxxxxxx@xxxxxx.cm r xxxxxxxx@xxxxxx.net, etc. Nte: The? t the right f the title Address describes the rules fr addresses and ffers a link t get a free accunt, shuld yu need ne. Enter the CAPTCHA cde. A CAPTCHA is used t make sure a persn, nt a cmputer prgram, is reading the web page. Nte: If the CAPTCHA cde is t difficult t read, click the small, circular Refresh icn t the right f the CAPTCHA bx fr a new wrd. Click the Cntinue buttn. After clicking the Cntinue buttn, the Accunt Creatin Validatin page displays, as shwn belw. Ntice it tells yu that an was sent t the address yu prvided. Actin 2 Validatin: Validate that yu can receive frm DOL. Access yur accunt and pen the that was sent t yu frm DOL. Nte: If yu d nt see an e- mail in yur Inbx, check yur Junk r Spam flders. Nte: Yu must click n the link within 48 hurs f receiving the , r yu will have t return t the website t begin the registratin prcess again. 5 After clicking n the link in the , the Accunt Creatin Accunt Infrmatin page is displayed: Actin 3 Accunt Infrmatin: Create a Username and Passwrd, and select Passwrd hint questins t use if yu frget yur Passwrd. Prvide a valid Username: Uppercase r lwercase letters are acceptable. Numbers are acceptable. address frmat is acceptable N mre than 128 ttal characters. 6 Create a Passwrd. The Passwrd must: Be different frm yur Username. Cntain at least eight (8) characters. Include at least ne uppercase letter, ne lwercase letter, and ne number. Be different frm yur previus 12 Passwrds. Have n mre than 128 ttal characters. Select 3 passwrd hint questins frm the drp-dwn menus and prvide answers fr each questin. All the answers must be different. The answers shuld be infrmatin yu can easily remember. Yu may want t write them dwn, as yu will need this infrmatin in the future if yu frget yur Passwrd r Username. The answers are nt case-sensitive. 7 After clicking the Cntinue buttn, the Accunt Creatin Persnal Infrmatin page is displayed: Actin 4 Persnal Infrmatin: Prvide Date f Birth and Scial Security Number (SSN). Enter the Date f Birth in mm/dd/yyyy frmat. Prvide a valid Scial Security Number (SSN). Click the Cntinue buttn. Guide 6 - Previus r current UI claimant - n NY.GOV ID Page 7

8 Because the system has recgnized that yur SSN is already n file with the DOL, the fllwing screen displays, asking yu t enter the PIN yu previusly created: Verify yur infrmatin by entering the PIN yu previusly created. 9 After clicking the Cntinue buttn, the Accunt Creatin Cnfirmatin page is displayed. Actin 5 Cnfirmatin: Review yur infrmatin and edit if changes are needed. Review and verify the infrmatin. 10 After clicking the Submit buttn, the fllwing Registratin Successful page is displayed: Accunt Creatin is Cmplete Yu can nw use yur NY.GOV ID t access the system. Nte: A cnfirmatin is sent autmatically t the address that yu prvided (see sample belw), and the Username yu chse is displayed. Yu have nw successfully created an nline accunt and can lg in t the NY.GOV website t access yur accunt and file UI claims. Yu can click n the Return buttn t g t the NY.GOV Sign In page, where yu can enter yur new Username and Passwrd t access the UI Benefits applicatin. After navigating t the NY.GOV Sign In page: Enter Username and Passwrd. Click the Submit buttn. Nte: In text just belw the Passwrd data-entry bx, there are links fr yu t click n if yu have frgtten yur Username r Passwrd. There are als links t the NY.GOV Terms f Service. If yu are Spanish-speaking, there is a Translate buttn in the upper-right crner. This buttn is always available n the tp navigatin bar f each screen. 12 After clicking the Submit buttn, the Accunt Overview Landing Page is displayed: Frm this page, yu can perfrm a number f ptins. Click n the Unemplyment Benefits buttn t file a claim, certify, change payment methd r see payment histry. View messages in the Message Inbx by clicking n the link in the upper right crner. Ntice that when yu have a new message, a small blue number is displayed t ntify yu that yu have an incming message. Mdify accunt infrmatin, such as hint questins r Passwrd.
