UNIX/Linux systems If yu are installing Fcus fr the first time, please fllw the Fcus New Installatin Instructins fr UNIX/Linux, n page eight. If yu are installing this sftware as an update t an existing Fcus installatin, please fllw the Fcus Update Installatin Instructins fr UNIX/Linux, n pages nine thrugh thirteen. 2 FOCUS New Installatin Instructins fr Windws Please read this entire dcument carefully befre beginning the installatin. Fcus versin 8.5 is supprted fr interface with CunterPint versins 7.5. Prir versins f CunterPint are n lnger supprted. Sftware Installatin Lg in as the netwrk supervisr. If yu are dwnlading frm the web: Dwnlad the prper installatin mdule fr 8.5 by using the link sent t yu, r by ging t and dwnlading the prper Fcus dem system fr yur platfrm. Demnstratin sftware will be activated by applying the registratin key per the instructins sent with yur key. Lcated the dwnladed file, Fcus85frCP75.exe n yur lcal hard drive. Begin the installatin prcedure by duble clicking n the Fcus85frCP75.exe file. If yu are installing frm a CD: Insert the Fcus 8.5 CD. The autrun menu shuld lad. If the autrun menu des nt lad it can be started by invking the autrun.exe file n the CD. Chse Fcus Service Manager frm the main menu. Chse Fcus fr CunterPint frm the sub menu. Chse the prper platfrm fr yur installatin. There are significant differences between versins, it is very imprtant that yu install the prper versin. Fllw the screen instructins fr the installatin f the Fcus 8.5 prgram files. Be sure t answer yes t all if asked t verwrite prgram files during the installatin. After the prgram files are installed, an ptins menu will appear. This will allw the installatin f dem data and/r the initializatin f empty files fr new cmpanies. Fr new Fcus installatins, chse Install empty data files. Fr dem installs, chse Install dem data. Click the Finish buttn t cmplete the installatin prcedure. Registratin f Fcus is required t activate versin 8.5. If registratin is nt perfrmed, the sftware will be in dem mde. T register: Frm the tp level CunterPint directry, invke the prgram Fcusreg.exe. Enter the data frm the registratin frm enclsed with the sftware CD and click the OK buttn t register. It is very imprtant that the data is keyed EXACTLY as it is printed n the frm. Incrrect registratin f the sftware will cause it t revert t dem mde. Nte: The installatin prgram may have ffered t make the fllwing change autmatically. If yu chse t make the change manually, yu must perfrm the fllwing prcedure. Edit the SYNRUN.SYN File Frm the tp level CunterPint directry, type: edit synrun.syn Add the fllwing line, if it des nt already exist (All caps, n spaces) COBSW= F Installatin f FOCUS is nw cmplete. 3 FOCUS Update Installatin Instructins fr Windws Please read this entire dcument carefully befre beginning the installatin. Fcus versin 8.5 is supprted fr interface with CunterPint versins 7.5. Prir versins f CunterPint are n lnger supprted. Sme f the instructins in this dcument refer t the versin f Fcus yu are running befre this upgrade. T determine yur current versin f Fcus, g int Fcus/Cntrl Infrmatin frm the Fcus menu. The current Fcus versin infrmatin is displayed n the tp line f this screen. PRE-INSTALLATION STEPS If yu are upgrading the CunterPint versin alng with the Fcus update Install the new CunterPint per Radiant s instructins befre yu install Fcus. Fcus 8.5 shuld be installed int the mst current CunterPint system. If the ld and new CunterPint systems are in different directries, the Fcus data files (SVDATA directry) will need t be cpied t the new CunterPint cmpany data directry. If yu need t exprt files in the pre-installatin steps f Fcus, the exprt needs t take place in the OLD CunterPint system. Be sure t cpy the exprt directry frm the ld system t the new CunterPint directry as well. If yu are installing the 8.5 release as an upgrade t Fcus versin 6.8.0A and earlier Yu must be n Fcus versin 6.9 r higher t directly upgrade t versin 8.5 f Fcus. Cntact RTM at t btain instructins regarding the prcedure fr upgrading frm versins prir t 6.9. If yu are installing the 8.5 release as an upgrade t any Fcus versin frm 6.9 t 8.5 Perfrm nly the fllwing steps necessary fr yur installatin, based n the versin f Fcus that was installed at yur site prir t this upgrade. If yu are installing this sftware as an upgrade t: Fcus versin 6.9.0, 7.0, 7.1, r 8.0 Perfrm Prcedures A, B, C, and D Fcus versin 8.1 Perfrm Prcedures B, C, and D Fcus versin 8.2 r 8.3 Perfrm bth Prcedure C, and Prcedure D Fcus versin 8.4 Perfrm nly prcedure D Prcedure A The frmat f the cntract and call ntes file, the custmer equipment file, and the cntract billing detail file has changed in this release. Because f this, yu must perfrm the fllwing steps befre installing this update. Invke the CunterPint sftware. Lg in as a user that will have access t the Fcus file utilities. Run the Fcus file utilities. These can be fund under the menu selectin Fcus service / File Frm the file utilities menu, chse #2 - Exprt a file Frm the list f files displayed, the fllwing files must be exprted: Custmer equipment file (# 3), Cntract/Call nte file (# 9), and Cntract billing detail (# 14), Use the (C) Create a new file ptin. When prmpted fr the starting and ending file key, press F1, fr first and last. After the exprt functin is cmplete, use the ESC key t return t the file selectin screen. These can be fund under the menu selectin Fcus service / File Frm the file utilities menu, chse #2 - Exprt a file Frm the list f files displayed, the fllwing files must be exprted: Service call file (# 5), and Service call histry (# 15) Use the (C) Create a new file ptin. When prmpted fr the starting and ending file key, press F1, fr first and last. After the exprt functin is cmplete, use the ESC key t return t the file selectin screen. This can be fund under Fcus Service / Cntrl infrmatin. Capture and/r print ut each page f Fcus cntrl inf. This must be used t re-enter cntrl infrmatin in the new versin after installatin. All six screens shuld be captured. Run the Fcus file utilities. These can be fund under the menu selectin Fcus service / File Frm the file utilities menu, chse #2 - Exprt a file Frm the list f files displayed, the fllwing file must be exprted: Cntract billing hist (# 13) Use the (C) Create a new file ptin. When prmpted fr the starting and ending file key, press F1, fr first and last. After the exprt functin is cmplete, use the ESC key t return t the file selectin screen. 5 SOFTWARE INSTALLATION All versins - install the update Lg in as the as the netwrk supervisr. If yu are dwnlading frm the web: Dwnlad the prper installatin mdule fr 8.5 by using the link sent t yu, r by ging t and dwnlading the prper Fcus dem system fr yur platfrm. Demnstratin sftware will be activated by applying the registratin key per the instructins sent with yur key. Lcated the dwnladed file, Fcus85frCP75.exe n yur lcal hard drive. 6 Prcedure A Upgrade the files exprted in the pre-installatin prcedure using the fllwing steps. G t a system cmmand prmpt and make the tp level CunterPint directry yur current directry. Example: cd \cpint Frm the CunterPint tp level directry, invke the Fcus versin 8.1 upgrade utility by typing fcus81 fllwed by a space and the ID f the cmpany t upgrade (fr example: fcus81 DATAFILS). Frm the list f files displayed, restre each ne by selecting the crrespnding number next t the file name. After the restre functin is cmplete, use the ESC key t return t the file selectin screen. Repeat the restre steps until all three files have been upgraded. Nte: If any f the files are empty, yu will need t initialize the empty file using the 8.5 file initializatin t create prper data file frmats. Prcedure B Prcedure C Upgrade the service call and service call histry files exprted in the pre-installatin prcedure using the fllwing steps. Invke the CunterPint sftware. Lg in as a user that will have access t the Fcus file utilities. Run the Fcus 8.4 upgrade file utilities. These can be fund under the menu selectin Fcus service / File utilities / Upgrade frm v8.1. A screen will appear describing the utility. Press Enter t cntinue. Yu will be prmpted t select pay cdes frm CunterPint that represent Cash and Check types f payments. Select the apprpriate cdes, and then press Enter t cntinue t the next screen. Frm the list f files displayed, restre each ne by selecting the crrespnding number next t the file name. After the restre functin is cmplete, use the ESC key t return t the file selectin screen. Repeat the restre steps until bth files have been upgraded. Nte: If any f the files are empty, yu will need t initialize the empty file using the 8.5 file initializatin t create prper data file frmats. Upgrade the service cdes file exprted in the pre-installatin prcedure using the fllwing steps. Invke the CunterPint sftware. Lg in as a user that will have access t the Fcus file utilities. Run the standard Fcus 8.5 file utilities. These can be fund under the menu selectin Fcus service / File utilities / File Maintenance. Select #4, Initialize files. A screen will be displayed, listing the Fcus files available fr initializatin. Press enter, answering N fr every file EXCEPT #2, Service cdes file. When the screen is cmplete, all files shuld say Skipped except fr the service cdes file. At the Field number t change? prmpt, press enter t initialize the cdes file. 7 Prcedure D After the initializatin functin is cmplete, yu will be returned t service file utility selectin screen. Select #3, Restre frm an exprt file. A screen will be displayed, listing the Fcus files available fr restratin. Frm the list f files displayed, the fllwing file must be restred: Service cdes file (# 1) Answer N t Any change?, then use the (C) ptin t Create a new data file. Answer Yes t Are yu sure when prmpted. After the restre functin is cmplete, use the ESC key t return t the file selectin screen. Cntinue using ESC t cmpletely exit the Fcus file utilities. Upgrade the Fcus cntrl infrmatin and cntract billing histry file exprted in the preinstallatin prcedure using the fllwing steps. Invke the CunterPint sftware. Lg in as a user that will have access t the Fcus cntrl infrmatin and file utilities. Run the standard Fcus 8.5 file utilities. These can be fund under the menu selectin Fcus service / File utilities / File Maintenance. Select #4, Initialize files. A screen will be displayed, listing the Fcus files available fr initializatin. Press enter, answering N fr every file EXCEPT #1, SVC Cntrl file, and #14, Cntract billing histry. Answer Yes fr these tw files. When the screen is cmplete, all files shuld say Skipped except fr numbers 1 and 14. At the Field number t change? prmpt, press enter t initialize the files. After the initializatin functin is cmplete, yu will be returned t service file utility selectin screen. Select #3, Restre frm an exprt file. A screen will be displayed, listing the Fcus files available fr restratin. Frm the list f files displayed, the fllwing file must be restred: Cntract billing hist (# 13) Answer N t Any change?, and then use the (C) ptin t Create a new data file. Answer Yes t Are yu sure when prmpted. After the restre functin is cmplete, use the ESC key t return t the file selectin screen. Cntinue using ESC t cmpletely exit the Fcus file utilities. Cntrl infrmatin must be re-entered, using the screens captured and/r printed in the pre-installatin prcess. G int Fcus cntrl file maintenance. This can be fund under Fcus Service / Cntrl infrmatin. Enter the cntrl infrmatin, using the screens captured and/r printed in the preinstallatin prcess as a reference. Installatin f the FOCUS update is nw cmplete. Please take a mment t review the release ntes and becme familiar with the new features. Please review the Cntrl infrmatin settings t ensure all fields have been prperly filled in fr any new ptins. Make the tp level CunterPint directry yur current directry. Example: cd /cpunix Unzip the setup files frm the distributin using the fllwing cmmand: unzip F850CP7.ZIP If yu are installing frm a CD: Munt the Fcus 8.5 CD n a standard munt pint. Example: munt /dev/cd0 /mnt Make the tp level CunterPint directry yur current directry. Example: cd /cpunix Unzip the setup files frm the Fcus CD using the fllwing cmmand. Example: unzip /mnt/software/unix/f850cp7.zip Nte: This cmmand assumes the munt pint fr the CD is /mnt, and is case-sensitive. Frm the CunterPint tp-level directry, invke the FOCUS installatin rutine by typing sh finstall.sh. During this prcedure, prgram files will be unpacked and an empty set f FOCUS data files will be created, if necessary. Yu will be asked t prvide a cmpany ID fr the cmpany int which the FOCUS data files will be installed. Registratin f Fcus is required t activate versin 8.5. If registratin is nt perfrmed, the sftware will be in dem mde. T register: G t a system cmmand prmpt and make the tp level CunterPint directry yur current directry. G t a system cmmand prmpt and make the tp level CunterPint directry yur current directry. Example: cd /cpint Frm the CunterPint tp level directry, invke the Fcus versin 8.0 upgrade utility by typing fcus81 fllwed by a space and the ID f the cmpany t upgrade (fr example: fcus81 DATAFILS). Frm the list f files displayed, restre each ne by selecting the crrespnding number next t the file name. After the restre is cmplete, use the ESC key t return t the file selectin screen. Repeat the restre steps until all three files have been upgraded. Nte: If any f the files are empty, yu will need t initialize the empty file using the 8.5 file initializatin t create prper data file frmats. Upgrade the service call and service call histry files exprted in the pre-installatin prcedure using the fllwing steps. Invke the CunterPint sftware. Lg in as a user that will have access t the Fcus file utilities. Run the Fcus 8.4 upgrade file utilities. These can be fund under the menu selectin Fcus service / File utilities / Upgrade frm v8.1. A screen will appear describing the utility. Press Enter t cntinue. Yu will be prmpted t select pay cdes frm CunterPint that represent Cash and Check types f payments. Select the apprpriate cdes, and then press Enter t cntinue t the next screen. Frm the list f files displayed, restre each ne by selecting the crrespnding number next t the file name. After the restre functin is cmplete, use the ESC key t return t the file selectin screen. Repeat the restre steps until bth files have been upgraded. Frm the list f files displayed, the fllwing file must be restred: Service cdes file (# 1) Answer N t Any change?, then use the (C) ptin t Create a new data file. Answer Yes t Are yu sure when prmpted. After the restre functin is cmplete, use the ESC key t return t the file selectin screen. Cntinue using ESC t cmpletely exit the Fcus file utilities. Upgrade the Fcus cntrl infrmatin and cntract billing histry file exprted in the preinstallatin prcedure using the fllwing steps. Invke the CunterPint sftware. Lg in as a user that will have access t the Fcus cntrl infrmatin and file utilities. Run the standard Fcus 8.5 file utilities. These can be fund under the menu selectin Fcus service / File utilities / File Maintenance. Select #4, Initialize files. A screen will be displayed, listing the Fcus files available fr initializatin. Press enter, answering N fr every file EXCEPT #1, SVC Cntrl file, and #14, Cntract billing histry. Answer Yes fr these tw files. When the screen is cmplete, all files shuld say Skipped except fr numbers 1 and 14. At the Field number t change? prmpt, press enter t initialize the files. After the initializatin functin is cmplete, yu will be returned t service file utility selectin screen. Select #3, Restre frm an exprt file. A screen will be displayed, listing the Fcus files available fr restratin. Frm the list f files displayed, the fllwing file must be restred: Cntract billing hist (# 13) Answer N t Any change?, and then use the (C) ptin t Create a new data file. Answer Yes t Are yu sure when prmpted. After the restre functin is cmplete, use the ESC key t return t the file selectin screen. Cntinue using ESC t cmpletely exit the Fcus file utilities. Cntrl infrmatin must be re-entered, using the screens captured and/r printed in the pre-installatin prcess. G int Fcus cntrl file maintenance. This can be fund under Fcus Service / Cntrl infrmatin. Enter the cntrl infrmatin, using the screens captured and/r printed in the preinstallatin prcess as a reference. Installatin f the FOCUS update is nw cmplete.
