2 Students, This packet shuld serve as a guideline fr all students that are filling ut cllege applicatins. The steps utlined in the fllwing pages will help yu cmplete the necessary steps in this extensive prcess. 3 Cllege Applicatin Overview Get Organized Use the planning sheet fund n the last page. Create yur cllege applicatin plan. Remember, there are many steps in the cllege applicatin prcess and planning ahead is a necessity. Start yur Cllege Applicatins early Begin yur nline applicatins n the webpages f the clleges where yu intend t apply. These applicatins can typically be fund under an Admissins tab. Update Clleges I m applying t in Naviance Letters f Recmmendatin Determine whether r nt the clleges yu re applying t require letters f recmmendatin If letters f recmmendatin are required: Identify a maximum f three teachers yu will ask t write a recmmendatin. Ask each teacher, in persn, t write a letter f recmmendatin. Teachers dedicate a large amunt f time t these recmmendatin letters. Only request the number f recmmendatins needed. Update yur resume in Naviance; teachers will use this infrmatin t write yur letter f recmmendatin. Give teachers at least 3 weeks t write a letter f recmmendatin Cmmn Applicatin If yu are planning t use Cmmn Applicatin, please fllw the link belw: Check Naviance t see if any f the clleges yu are applying t accept the (CA) Cmmn Applicatin. Send Test Scres Scres were already sent t the clleges if yu identified them when yu registered fr the ACT/SAT. Yur paper scre reprt yu received at hme will list these clleges. 5 Hw t Request a Letter f Recmmendatin (Teacher/Cunselr) in NAVIANCE Reminder: make sure yu update yur resume in Naviance prir t the electrnic request. Yu can access yur resume in yur Naviance prtfli under the Abut Me tab in the interesting things abut me sectin. Click n the Clleges tab Nw click n Clleges I m Applying t Scrll dwn the page until yu see Teacher Recmmendatins click n Add/Cancel Requests Select a maximum f 3 teachers and/r yur cunselr Cmplete the ptinal, Persnal nte t teacher If yu need a cunselr recmmendatin, be sure t include the fllwing infrmatin; Infrm yur cunselr f the specific type f frm r that is necessary (NACAC r SR Reprt) If yur cllege requires a specific paper frm, please nte that infrmatin in the Optinal Teacher Nte area and bring the frm t yur cunselr (NACAC r SR Reprt) Click Update Request Yu must click update request t COMPLETE! *Lk fr the Green Cnfirmatin bx that indicates yur teacher request has been sent. 4 P age

6 Applying via the Cmmn Applicatin Lgin t yur Cmmn Applicatin accunt: Cmplete yur Cllege applicatin within Cmmn App Cmplete the FERPA agreement After cmpleting yur FERPA agreement lgin t Naviance: Click n the Clleges tab Nw click n Clleges I m Applying t Enter the SAME address yu used with the cmmn app Click Match Cmmn Applicatin users please watch this vide fr further assistance: Click n the Pull Dwn Menu under the Applying via cmmn app clumn and indicate Yes r N that yu are using the cmmn app fr that cllege. 5 P age

8 Hw t request yur Transcript Click n the Clleges tab Click n Clleges I m Applying T Click n Request Transcript fr each schl yu wuld like t send a transcript Nw click Add Request At the bttm f the page, please click Request Transcript Please nte ACT and SAT scre cannt be sent via Naviance r schl cunselr *ACT scre are sent by the student via *SAT/AP scres are sent by the student via Please nte* midyear transcript/7 th semester transcript requests can be submitted after February 1 st if request by the cllege. 7 P age

10 Nw that applicatins are cmplete Begin reviewing the CLS website fr schlarship infrmatin. The Schlarship site is updated regularly and yu shuld be checking it ften. Utilize the Cllege and Career Center (C2) fr schlarship infrmatin Cntinue t visit with cllege representative in C2 Cmplete the FAFSA as sn as yu have yur January 1 st tax infrmatin cmpleted.
