1 Job Title: Business Development Consultant Outdoor Education Job Grade: Band 4 Directorate: Schools Children & Families Job Reference Number: P01847 The Role To provide marketing and sales of Outdoor Education opportunities for Essex Outdoors including finding new business and developing existing markets. Job Purpose The Essex Outdoor Education Service provides quality outdoor learning opportunities to young people and adults of Essex and the wider community. As Business Development Consultant you will be responsible for achieving sales targets and extend the service reach. You will work with the Service Manager, Business Manager and Centre Managers to ensure campaigns are based on clear outcomes and target new markets. You will be expected to liaise with individual schools, local clusters, other Local Authorities and non school based groups to increase the customer base and revenue across the service. Key Accountabilities Provide a first class level of service to all of our customers through: Promoting and selling the full range of Outdoor Learning products in order to meet sales targets as set out in their performance management Liaising with schools, Youth groups and Local Authorities to bring in new customers, and promote new bookings from existing customers Work with the service marketing lead to organise the design, printing, delivery and use of promotional literature and advertising for outdoor learning products and activities Organising, booking and attending relevant conferences and exhibitions

2 Ensuring that enquiries are responded to in adherence to, all internal and external service levels and targets Have a thorough knowledge of Outdoor Learning opportunities and be able to conduct a needs analysis on client groups to ensure that the correct products are provided and recommended to match their needs. Knowledge, Skills and Experience An understanding of marketing and selling in the education sector Proven track record in selling Outdoor Learning opportunities or similar products / services. Experience of show-casing Outdoor Education at large and small exhibitions. The ability to work to (and meet) targets and deadlines Previous experience of using online CRM systems Experience of using Microsoft Office products appropriately Ability to work in a dedicated team Experience of using telephone for sales Use of remote working software for demonstrations and capturing customer information.
