To support the Website Development Youth Worker in the development of local youth forum websites and representation on the County Youth Council (CYCLe) Key Relationships: County Youth Council (CYCLe) Young people, both users and non users Youth Work staff and volunteers Parents and carers Users of the community colleges/centres/ organisations Local providers, agencies and voluntary organisations Youth Work senior management team Connexions Administrative and support staff Specific Duties and Responsibilities Background The Jitty is an innovative website developed with young people aimed at young people aged Reporting to the project board, the post holder will initially be involved in the development of a countywide group of young people to write articles for the site. In the longer term the emphasis of the job will be on developing site content, including links to other relevant websites and developing other groups of contributors. The post holder will carry out site administration and moderating roles. 2 Purpose Job Tasks 1. Support the Website Development Worker in the management of the day to day running of the website including site administration, moderating the articles submitted to the site and reviewing forum content. 2. Working with young people to develop interest in the site and ideas for articles and developments to the site. 3. Support the Development of a group of young people to write articles for the site including training and leading regular group meetings, ensuring continuity as young people leave the group and geographical spread of contributions. 4. Developing content of the site in consultation with relevant partners and young people. 5. Working with youth workers to develop projects to engage young people and create interest in the site. 6. Ensuring that the site is publicised to young people throughout the County. 7. Co-ordinating links with other young people s websites and relationships with responsible organisations. 8. Promotion of the site to relevant organisations and interested parties. 9. To assist with ensuring that effective quality assurance arrangements are implemented in line the Service s overall quality framework for youth work, accounting for the quality and standards of all relevant activity and service provision. 10. To undertake a range of administrative functions necessary to support all of the above, assist in the management of resources to achieve agreed objectives, ensuring that adequate controls and records are maintained in line with the County s relevant policies and procedures and providing such reports as may be required. 11. To ensure their own personal and professional development through appropriate participation in job -related learning opportunities and supervision programmes. In addition: i. To comply with relevant County Council policies and procedures. ii. To do all that is reasonably practicable to maintain a safe and healthy work environment, having regard to appropriate risk assessments and ensuring compliance with County Council and statutory requirements. To notify the Quality and Staff Development Officer of any off-site visits and trips. 2 of 6

Undertake any other duties which may reasonably be regarded as within the nature of the duties and responsibilities/grade of the post as defined, subject to the proviso that any changes of a permanent nature shall be incorporated into the job description in specific terms SPECIAL FACTORS: Subject to the duration of the need, the special conditions given below apply: (a) (b) (c) (d) (e) The nature of the work may involve the post holder carrying out work outside of normal working hours. The post holder will be required to attend, from time to time, training courses, conferences, seminars or other meetings as required by his/her own training needs and the needs of the service. Expenses will be paid in accordance with the Local Conditions of Service. This post is subject to a check being carried out at an enhanced level by the Criminal Records Bureau regarding any previous criminal record. Ability to travel to service points within the Leicestershire County Council in a cost efficient way. Leicestershire County Council is seeking to promote the employment of disabled people and will make any adjustments considered reasonable to the above duties under the terms of the Disability Discrimination Act 1995 to accommodate a suitable disabled candidate. This job description sets out the duties and responsibilities of the post at the time when it was drawn up.
