1 Job Title: ICT Network Support - North East Children s Support Service (Colchester/Clacton) Job Grade: Band 3 Directorate: Job Reference Number: Schools, Children & Families P00591 The Role Provide general support in a specific curricula/resource area, including preparation and maintenance of resources and support to staff and pupils Job Purpose Under the instruction/guidance of senior staff: Key Accountabilities ICT Support: Ensure that ICT hardware across the curriculum areas of the CSS is at all times functional and ready for use in accordance with curriculum requirements. Provide support and technical problem solving on hardware and software issues and problems, to teaching and other staff as appropriate. Ensure that ICT equipment and workstations meet the requirements of health and safety legislation and are maintained in a clean and safe manner. Basic Active Directory management; e.g. password resets, user creation. Basic Exchange management; e.g. user mailbox creation Maintain peripherals; e.g. digital cameras, scanners, printers, CAM. Installation of new computer systems and peripherals Support system software; e.g. deployment, updates, troubleshooting

2 Coach CSS employees in the use of software and hardware. Keep Senior Staff updated on progress and work carried out. Comply with policies and procedures relating to child protection, health, safety, welfare, security, confidentiality and data protection, reporting any concerns to the appropriate person. Contribute to the overall aims and targets of the CSS, appreciate and support the roles of other members of the CSS work team and attend and participate in relevant meetings as required. Be aware of and take part in the CSSs performance management framework and participate in training and development activities as required. Security Management: Monitor workstation system logs and take appropriate action. Uphold network security. Uphold CSSs e-safety policy. Help maintain all necessary records including inventories and details of equipment checks. Deputise for Network Manager in his/her absence Carry out risk assessments for ICT/technician activities To be proactive in keeping up to date with new technology and own personal development to fulfil the needs of the post Carry out additional duties that are commensurate with the grading and level of responsibility of the job The NE CSS has a number of satellite units and a number of peripatetic staff. You will provide support to ensure staff and students are able to use the hardware and software required.

3 Support for Learning Using specialist skills, training and experience, support pupils in practical learning activities under the guidance of the teacher Support for Teaching Create and maintain a purposeful, orderly and productive working environment which is also healthy and safe, and to report all health and safety concerns to the appropriate person in accordance with CSS policy The timely and accurate design, preparation and use of specialist equipment, resources and materials as required by staff and the curriculum Maintain records relevant to the specific curriculum area Undertake clerical and administration tasks relevant to the specific curriculum Support for the Curriculum Monitor and manage stock and supplies for the specific curriculum area, cataloguing as required. Maintenance of specialist technical equipment, check for quality, and safety, undertaking repairs and modifications and reporting other damage in accordance with the CSS policy Demonstrate and assist others in safe and effective use of specialist equipment and materials Maintain a current knowledge of health and safety requirements, including attending courses as required Obtain materials by local purchase and under the direction of senior staff Support for the CSS Be aware of and comply with policies and procedures relating to data protection, child protection, health & safety, copyright, security and confidentiality reporting all concerns to an appropriate person in accordance with CSS policies

4 Be aware of and support difference and endeavour to ensure all pupils have equal access to opportunities to learn and develop Contribute to the overall ethos, work and aims of the CSS Appreciate and support the role of other professionals Attend and participate in relevant meetings as required Participate in training and other learning opportunities and in performance management as required Knowledge, Skills and Experience Good general education. Further relevant training. Ability to provide technical support. Ability to carry out hardware repair and maintenance (Desktops/laptops) Ability and experience of maintenance of Research Machines CC3 server. Working knowledge of Windows XP professional, Microsoft Internet explorer/office 2003 Knowledge of LAN and TCP/IP, wireless networking, multimedia and AV devices would be an advantage. Working knowledge of relevant policies/codes of practice and legislation. Ability to relate well to children and adults. Understanding of classroom/school roles and frameworks for teaching. Effective time management. Good communication/interpersonal skills. Work calmly under pressure and be flexible.
