3 Knowle DGE Learning Centre would like to appoint a Receptionist to support our Administrative team. The position is term time only, 27.5 hours a week, Actual annual starting salary BG5 SCP ,027-10,704 paid over 12 months. Our Learning Centre, Knowle DGE is responsible for providing education for young people between the ages of 7-18 catering for children with social, emotional and behaviour difficulties and a range of complex needs. We are looking to appoint a Receptionist to provide general office and clerical support. You will be the first point of contact for all visitors, staff and students coming into the Learning Centre.Therefore you must have excellent customer service skills. You will perform a number of standard tasks within established procedures and defined quality requirements. In addition, you will provide a responsive service, responding to a wide range of queries and requests for assistance. We are seeking a person who is always enthusiastic, positive and adaptable. With excellent communication and interpersonal skills and a strong commitment to high quality service standards. You should be experienced at working in a busy office environment, under pressure at times, delivering an efficient and effective administrative service. 5 BRISTOL CITY COUNCIL JOB DESCRIPTION Department: Division: JOB TITLE: Education and Lifelong Learning Knowle DGE Learning Centre Receptionist GRADE: 5 MANAGED BY: School Business Manager RESPONSIBLE FOR: No Staff PURPOSE OF JOB To be the first point of contact for all visitors and callers and provide general administrative support both of which will contribute to the effective and efficient running of the Learning Centre. KEY OUTCOMES Undertake a range of clerical duties to ensure the smooth and efficient running of the administrative function of the school and to present a friendly and professional image to all visitors / callers to the Learning Centre Reception duties to include being the first point of contact to deal with all telephone and face to face callers to the school. Responding to a range of routine and more complex face to face, written and telephone enquiries either directly where appropriate or by referral to relevant colleague. Basic data entry and retrieval: written documents (e.g. letters, reports, schedules, newsletters), spreadsheets,databases (e.g. attendance data) and other applications, within statutory time scales. Undertake general office duties, to include opening and sorting post, filing, photocopying. GENERAL A. Work in compliance with the Codes of Conduct, Regulations and policies of the City Council, and its commitment to equal opportunities B. 6 BRISTOL CITY COUNCIL EMPLOYEE SPECIFICATION Department: CYPS School: Knowle DGE Learning Centre Post: School Administrator Bristol Grade: 5 ESSENTIAL (Must have) Knowledge & Experience NVQ Level 2 or equivalent in administration At least 1 year experience of working in an administrative capacity Capability to use standard procedures Sound ICT skills to be able to use word processing packages, spreadsheets, databases and desktop publishing to input and produce reports. Abilities & Aptitudes Ability to organise complex material and appointments use spoken and written skills to communicate with adults and children in an appropriate manner including passing information to relevant staff members work independently and cooperatively as part of a team file and retrieve information stored alphabetically maintain confidentially with both written and verbal communication cope with changing and challenging priorities with excellent organisational and time management skills retrieve, send and use and intranet systems DESIRABLE (Should have) Knowledge & Experience Experience of working in a service orientated environment Experience of any of the following: Keeping sickness records, recording of staff training. Knowledge of school administration systems. First aid certificate

Accordingly this post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and therefore all convictions, cautions and bind-overs, including those regarded as spent must be declared. 2. If you are currently working with children, on either a paid or voluntary basis, your current employer will be asked about disciplinary offences, including those related to children or young people (whether the disciplinary sanction is current or time-expired), and whether you have been the subject of any child protection allegations or concerns and if so the outcome of any investigation or disciplinary proceedings. If you are not currently working with children, but have done in the past, that previous employer will be asked about these issues. 3. Where neither your current or previous employment has involved working with children, your current employer will be asked about your suitability to work with children, although it may where appropriate be answered not applicable if your duties have not brought you into contact with children or young people. Interview Process After the closing date, short listing will be conducted by a Panel, who will match your skills/ experience against the criteria in the Person Specification. You will be selected for interview entirely on the contents of your application form, so please read the Job Description and Person Specification carefully before you complete your form. All candidates invited to interview must bring the following documents: Documentary evidence of right to work in the UK Documentary evidence of identity that will satisfy DBS requirements such as a current driving licence including a photograph and/or a passport and/or a full birth certificate Documentary proof of current name and address (i.e. utility bill, financial statement etc.) Where appropriate any documentation evidencing a change of name Documents confirming any educational or professional qualifications that are necessary or relevant for the post.

Any relevant issues arising from references will be taken up at interview. In addition to candidates ability to perform the duties of the post, the interview will also explore issues relating to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, including: Motivation to work with children and young people Ability to form and maintain appropriate relationships and personal boundaries with children and young people Emotional resilience in working with challenging behaviours Attitudes to use of supporting positive behaviours.
