About Horizon House We are a full-service day center and outreach for people we call them our neighbors who are experiencing homelessness in Indianapolis. At our facility, neighbors can take care of everyday needs like showers, laundry, mail, and more. We spend time learning who neighbors are and where they want to go, then give them guidance and provide services to help them get there. Horizon House provides the help and hope that individuals our neighbors need to find their way out of homelessness. Anyone who is experiencing homelessness can visit Horizon House during daytime hours, when most other shelters require them to be out. We are a tranquil, respectful, nonjudgmental place - off the street and out of the weather. We provide showers and bathrooms, laundry, food, mail, phone, and personal storage things no one would want to be without. We also provide guidance so each neighbor can address their personal barriers to ending homelessness everything from clothes and bus passes to job training and housing. Onsite partners offer healthcare and mental health services, civil legal consultation, certification and training, and probation and parole services - all within our one stop shop facility. We also reach out to individuals who typically won t visit shelters in camps, under bridges, or wherever they are staying in the city. Our homeless neighbors are individuals, and each has his or her own story of homelessness. Some have been homeless only a short time. Some are homeless most of the time. All individuals who are experiencing homelessness have to struggle to survive from one day to the next. We provide a path out of homelessness - and do it with hospitality, dignity, and respect. Thank you to Joe and Jill Reitz: Horizon House would like to thank Joe and Jill Reitz for volunteering their time to host Tackling Homelessness for the past few years. When we first partnered together, Joe and Jill came to our facility and took a tour to see all that we offered to our neighbors. They became even more convinced that they should host our event. Since then, they have generously committed to helping Horizon House raise funding through Tackling Homelessness. We greatly appreciate their efforts! 2
