ABOUT BIG BROTHERS BIG SISTERS OF SOUTHWEST WASHINGTON Our mission is to provide children facing adversity with strong and enduring, professionally supported one-to-one mentoring relationships that change their lives for the better, forever. Our agency operates under the belief that inherent in every child is the ability to succeed and thrive in life. We are committed to helping Littles (ages 5-18) access their own resourcefulness and resiliency in order to realize their fullest potential. We serve the five-county region of Thurston, Mason, Lewis, Grays Harbor and Pacific Counties, offering a variety of programs ranging from our more familiar Community-Based matches, to our Site-Based Military Mentoring, to career exploration for high school students. WHY SPONSOR A BIG BROTHERS BIG SISTERS EVENT? Unlike many other non-profit organizations in the community that serve children, we do not charge a fee to the families or volunteer mentors in our programs. That means that 100% of our operating budget comes from donations, grants, and funds raised from our events. In fact, in 2015 over 50% of our revenue came from special events. This made possible over 25,000 mentoring hours between volunteer Bigs and Littles. When you sponsor a Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southwest Washington event, you are saying publicly that you support the children, youth, and families of this community, and that you believe in the transformational power of one-to-one mentoring. All of our events offer you, the sponsor, an opportunity to communicate this message clearly to a specific segment of our community. Bowl for Kids' Sake Spring 2017 Perhaps our best known event nationally, Bowl for Kids' Sake is a local standard in pledge-driven fundraisers. Over 150 local business and community members form teams, collect pledges, and then go head to head in spirited competition at a bowling party complete with a DJ and pizza!
