QUICK FACTS Who We Are It s All About Kids is a Tampa Bay nonprofit organization that strives to open minds and hearts through literacy and social behavior programs and whose core mission is to inspire, teach and equip children. It s All About Kids values children and is committed to providing resources to children and their families who are in need of services that will emphasize education, literacy and social skills character development. The organization strives to provide children with a strong foundation for the future by developing their confidence, self-respect, leadership skills and integrity. Each program is guided by a simple, yet powerful, concept: It s Better to Prepare a Life than to Repair a Life History It s All About Kids began several years ago with a core group of dedicated volunteers who realized that many children were missing out on opportunities to build literacy and social skills. They wanted to change these children s lives in a meaningful and lasting way, and they determined that the most valuable gift they could give them was the gift of empowerment. This will not only equip them today, but will build a solid foundation for these future community leaders. It s All About Kids created Buzz Into Books, a literacy campaign that gets young people excited about reading, staying in school and motivates them to succeed academically. A second program, Etiquette and Manners introduces the social skills needed to excel in adulthood. Demand for these programs prompted the launching of a Learning Lab to help children develop better study skills. The Parent Training Clinics were designed to help caregivers create a positive educational home environment. Our Programs Buzz Into Books is our core literacy program. Our mascot is a giant bee we call Buzz. He captures the attention and imaginations of school-age children who like to hear how Buzz faced his own set of challenges and overcame them through self confidence and increased reading skills. Buzz recognizes that children need tools to aid them in their studies, so he frequently distributes supplies like pencils, notebooks, rulers and calculators. Buzz also hands out books to children, and even backpacks. Etiquette and Manners is our signature program designed to build the selfesteem and confidence of children. Through fun and interactive exercises, children learn about table manners, proper grooming and correct attire for any occasion. We also discuss family values and how to interact with adults as well as other children. Communication is an essential element of the program. The lessons provide a foundation for a lifetime of social success. The Buzz Learning Lab is a weekly program designed to help children with literacy skills, homework and reading. Children can refine reading skills, practice penmanship, listen to audio books, read out loud and play interactive educational games on our computers. Members of our staff and community leaders share arts & crafts and story time with the children. Children are encouraged to participate in our reading incentive program. The Parent Training Clinics promote parental involvement in education. These workshops and reading parties demonstrate how parents can design an effective educational environment within the home. Educational materials, books and resources are presented at these clinics to help foster and enhance a home reading library.

TESTIMONIES Darhleen has noticed that all three children are better behaved, more diligent about schoolwork, and seem to enjoy learning. Each of them received rewards for their good work in the Buzz programs. The results of Carly s participation in Etiquette and Manners have been impressive. She helps set the table at mealtime and puts a napkin on her lap when she eats. She understands why someone would wear a suit or dress to a special occasion and because good hygiene is one of the topics the program addresses, Carly is now much more diligent about brushing her teeth. ---Jessica,Carly s mom Seeing the results of the program made RaJshawn want to become even more involved with It s All About Kids. These lessons make parents become more interactive with their children. While many children are taught manners by their parents, the program reinforces the lessons learned at home. The impact is greater when they are taught among their peers during the Etiquette and Manners courses. Julia was especially impressed with the individual attention that the children received. The activities and exercises allowed the children to practice what they had just learned. Hearing the instructor speak to the children with respect helped build their self-esteem and confidence. When Dylan said that he loved the class, it was a huge confirmation for Julia that It s All About Kids is doing great things for her family and for the community.
