1 Who We Are Most Valuable Kids (MVK) of Greater Cincinnati was founded in 2005 to provide underprivileged, at-risk kids with event tickets to reward and motivate them to overcome significant life challenges. Our Mission MVK works to enhance the selfesteem, academic achievement, and social/emotional development of at-risk kids through opportunities to attend sporting events, cultural arts, and unique experiences. More than Tickets MVK has built a network of community sponsors, business leaders, and caring individuals that allow us to do more than provide tickets. Together, we provide at-risk children with experiences that have the potential to change their view of their world, their future, and themselves. 87,000 underprivileged kids sent to a live sports or cultural event. That s enough to fill every seat in US Bank Arena and Paul Brown Stadium, plus more! 10 years of consistent growth, trusted community partnerships, and changed lives. 90 Greater Cincinnati nonprofits collaborate with MVK to receive opportunities and experiences that are used as incentives and rewards for the at-risk kids they serve. $2 million in event tickets and donations for deserving kids of low-income households. 2 Providing Firsts with an Impact that Lasts Thirteen year-old Jamir has lived his whole life just blocks from Great American Ball Park. For him, though, it seemed a world away. Raised by his grandmother after several unsuccessful stays in foster care, Jamir had few reasons and even less opportunity to venture beyond his own neighborhood. Until MVK gave him the chance of a lifetime. Jamir was selected to receive the MVK Redlegs Champion award, which included tickets to his first Cincinnati Reds game and an on-field experience. It works. Just ask Jamir, who said, I never thought this could happen to a kid like me. It makes me want to work even harder at school MVK creates incentive programs like this to motivate and reward kids as they work to improve academic, social skills and behaviors. MVK keeps kids coming to class. As the Resource Coordinator at Rockdale Academy, Audrey Holtzman works with some of the most at-risk kids in Greater Cincinnati. She knows how important motivational tools and rewards are to their future success. A large number of our students experience homelessness and for that reason are very transient, says Holtzman. Of those students, the ones rewarded through MVK have better attendance, behavior, better grades and test scores. They look forward to the experiences MVK provides and it keeps them coming to school.
