3 Port Discovery s Great Friend to Kids Award Every year at Play it Forward, Port Discovery awards an individual(s) or corporation the Great Friend to Kids award, honoring those who have made significant and outstanding contributions to strengthening education and advancing the interests of children. Port Discovery s Great Friend to Kids Nominating Committee is excited to announce the recipients of the 2016 Great Friend to Kids Award: Baltimore Ravens Coach John Harbaugh John is a pillar in our community and serves as an important role model for thousands of children and families in Baltimore and beyond. His perseverance, positive attitude, and an unyielding support for his players during good and difficult times align with the character traits we impart on the playing field of our Museum every day. There is an important lesson to be learned in John s coaching style: when faced with adversity, it is a positive approach, determination, and belief in oneself which make a challenging goal achievable. At Port Discovery, we work to instill that same self-confidence in children. Lenny B. Robinson ( ) AKA The Route 29 Batman Donning his Batman cape and mask behind the wheel of his custom Batmobile, the late Lenny Robinson brought joy and hope to thousands of sick children in hospitals across the country. He had the gift of making a personal connection with every child he met, and Port Discovery was very lucky to have Batman visit the museum on several occasions, where he entertained children and families from our underserved communities. Lenny s mission of inspiring, teaching, and entertaining children as Batman embodies the spirit and the purpose of the Great Friend to Kids award, and we are proud to posthumously recognize him as a 2016 recipient of the Great Friend to Kids award.
