3 Background Information on Pi Sigma Epsilon What is Pi Sigma Epsilon? Pi Sigma Epsilon is the only national, professional, coeducational fraternity in marketing, sales management and selling. Founded in 1952, Pi Sigma Epsilon was created to promote the fields of marketing and sales as careers. Pi Sigma Epsilon offers practical sales and marketing experience to members through active involvement in sales and marketing projects, marketing research, professional programs, community service and social events. The Delta Epsilon chapter was founded at Virginia Tech in 1986 as the 5th chapter of Pi Sigma Epsilon. Delta Epsilon has consistently ranked within the top 15 active chapters in the nation. Members of Pi Sigma Epsilon on a national level, as well as a local level, have the opportunity to experience first- - - hand business training skills before venturing into the business world. The Pi Sigma Epsilon fraternity stands to gain and maintain success through membership growth and chapter programming. 3

4 The Mission of Pi Sigma Epsilon To bring together academically qualified students who express interest in the study of marketing, selling, sales management, and related fields in colleges and universities, as well as the advancement of these fields as both a career and a profession. The Pi Sigma Epsilon Statement of Purpose One of the first steps taken in the creation of Pi Sigma Epsilon was the development of the Statement of Purpose. The Fraternity adheres to these six purposes, as they are the reasons for its existence. To create a collegiate organization of students who are interested in the advancement of marketing, sales management and selling as a career and a profession; To promote the study of marketing, sales management, selling and related fields in colleges and universities; To encourage in colleges and universities the establishing of course preparing students for careers in professional marketing, sales management and selling; To stimulate improved methods and techniques in the fields of marketing, sales management and selling; To instill in its members the highest possible ethical standards in selling. 4

This is realized through a commitment to quality products and services, strong customer service ethics and most importantly, profitable investments and ventures. Many college organizations seek funding from organizations and send a representative merely asking for a donation. Pi Sigma Epsilon believes that all contracts with a company should be mutually beneficial for both parties. 9 How to Become a Corporate Sponsor: Becoming a Corporate Sponsor of the Delta Epsilon chapter is as simple as returning the Corporate Sponsor Pledge Contract (sent with this guide). We invite you to read the agreement that Delta Epsilon provides regarding our obligations of the Corporate Sponsorship Program. Once you have reviewed our contract agreement, please fill out the Pledge Contract for the sponsorship you desire, copy it for your records and return it to the address on the contract. Since we are sensitive to your company s budget, we understand that not all companies will be able to donate money at this time. Pledge Contracts can be filled out now and money will be accepted at any time. Benefits will be applicable for one year from the date that Delta Epsilon receives your partnership donation. 9

10 Delta Epsilon Chapter Corporate Sponsorship Program Contract Agreement Please review the following agreement before filling out the Pledge Contract form. Corporate Sponsorship Contract Agreement: The Executive Board Members of the Delta Epsilon chapter of Pi Sigma Epsilon have reviewed and agreed upon the terms and obligations stated in this packet. We will gladly comply with them. Levels of partnership are good for exactly one year from the date that the donation is received by the Delta Epsilon chapter of Pi Sigma Epsilon. If your company is not satisfied with the performance of the Delta Epsilon chapter at any time during the partnership, an immediate meeting of our Executive Board will be scheduled with your company representative(s) to resolve the problem. The entire Fraternity will conduct a serious review of the arising problems and all reasonable steps will be taken to resolve the matter.
