This role would suit a recent graduate looking to launch themselves into the marketing and events arena. You will be responsible for supporting the College s schools liaison activity, with a particular focus on the Colchester, Braintree, Clacton and Chelmsford catchment areas and supporting the wider marketing team with internal and external events coordination at the Colchester campus. With knowledge of post-16 and post-18 provision and experience of presenting and public speaking to a range of different audiences, you will also possess considerable events management and/or schools liaison experience. 3 We have members of the Marketing team based at two of the three campuses; Colchester and Braintree and are responsible for the promotion of the whole College in a variety of markets and using various methods. The post-holder will work under the direction of the Marketing Officer (Schools Liaison and Events). Schools liaison activity will require the post-holder to develop and build a network of professional relationships with key influencers in targeted feeder schools to promote the College s provision. Such activities will include workshops, presentations and assemblies, attendance at parents evenings and options/careers exhibitions. The post-holder will also support in the promotion the College s Higher Education provision at national UCAS fairs and targeted Further Education colleges. Events can range from the organisation and attendance of our Graduation ceremonies; open events at all College campuses; external events, and organising launch events for new facilities/curriculum areas. This position is based at Colchester but will involve time at all our campuses including Braintree, Clacton and other learning sites across Essex. We actively target and recruit in Essex and Suffolk areas and therefore, travel within these areas is essential.
4 JOB DESCRIPTION JOB TITLE: REGULATED ACTIVITY RESPONSIBLE TO: Marketing Coordinator (Schools Liaison, Events and Research) Yes Marketing Officer (Schools Liaison and Events) LINE MANAGEMENT OF OTHER STAFF No LOCATION Colchester GRADE Scale 4 Points PURPOSE STATEMENT To support and enhance the College's relationship with a network of key feeder schools, and assist coordinating a number of internal and external events. MAIN TASKS: 1. Support the marketing team to maintain a network of professional relationships with key influencers from targeted feeder schools in Essex and Suffolk. 2. Support the strategic ambitions for growth and development at all sites by compiling and distributing feedback for evaluation from school links. 3. Deliver presentations and workshops to targeted feeder schools ensuring positive promotion of Colchester Institute s provision. 4. Identify opportunities to improve the perception of Colchester Institute and to support the engagement of schools in the area. 5. Work alongside colleagues in the College to ensure a cohesive and collaborative approach to school liaison activity. 6. Act as a point of contact for incoming enquiries from school stakeholders in the area. 7. Support the Marketing Officer (Schools Liaison and Events) with the planning, organising and set up of open days and events, as well as maintaining strong communications with the schools. 8. Set up stands and represent the College at national, regional and local promotional events, including evening and weekend work. 9. Be available to attend UCAS Fairs across the country. 10. Plan and implement events to time, budget and quality standards. 11. Actively promote relationships with Areas and Faculties to secure internal support and assistance for events. 12. Update the events pages on the College portal, website and social networking sites. 13. Contribute to the production of promotional literature, signage and information packs for events.
5 14. Provide feedback and data to the marketing team staff to support event and curriculum planning. 15. General marketing and administrative tasks, including filing, photocopying, scanning, proof-reading, design, photography, etc. 16. Support the Senior Marketing Officer with research which will involve both primary and secondary methods. Examining strengths of other mixed economy colleges and keeping abreast of the competition. 17. Work to promote Equality and Diversity in all aspects of the role. 18.
