1 Schools Liaison and Events Coordinator Ref: ,700 20,400 per annum Actual Salary 7,500 8, Hours per week, 52 Weeks per Year Fixed term until January 2017 The Marketing and Communications team are looking for a School s Liaison and Events Coordinator to join their team. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and maintaining a network of professional relationships with key influencers from targeted feeder schools in Braintree, Chelmsford, Colchester and surrounding area. An understanding of marketing principles and experience of multi-tasking, team work, presenting, public speaking to a range of audience and organising and participating in large scale events are required for the role. A minimum of a level 3 qualification or considerable events management experience is required. You will also be flexible and willing to work evenings and weekends. 3 JOB DESCRIPTION JOB TITLE: RESPONSIBLE TO: LOCATION: Schools Liaison and Events Coordinator Senior Marketing Officer (School s Liaison and Events) Colchester SALARY: Scale 4 (points 15-18) 18,687 20,400 per annum Actual salary 7,575 8,270 PURPOSE STATEMENT: To support and enhance the College's relationship with a network of key feeder schools, and assist coordinating a number of internal and external events. MAIN TASKS: 1. Develop and maintain a network of professional relationships with key influencers from targeted feeder schools in Braintree, Chelmsford, Colchester and surrounding area. 2. Support the strategic ambitions for growth and development at all sites by compiling and distributing feedback for evaluation from school links. 3. Deliver presentations and workshops to targeted feeder schools ensuring positive promotion of Colchester Institute s provision. 4. Identify opportunities to improve the perception of Colchester Institute and to support the engagement of schools in the area. 5. Work alongside colleagues in the Apprenticeship Hub and Admissions to ensure a cohesive and collaborative approach to school liaison activity. 6. Act as the first point of contact for incoming enquiries from school stakeholders in the area. 7. Support the Senior School Liaison and Events Officer with the planning, organising and set up of open days, progression events and STEM events, achieving participation targets from local schools. 8. Set up stands and represent the College at national, regional and local promotional events, including evening and weekend work. 9. Plan and implement events to time, budget and quality standards. 10. Actively promote relationships with Areas and Faculties to secure internal support and assistance for events. 11. Update the events pages on the College portal, website and social networking sites.

4 12. Ensure effective briefings, role allocation and communication to all staff involved with events. 13. Contribute to the production of promotional literature, signage and information packs for events. 14. Make and confirm bookings with both internal and external suppliers. 15. Provide feedback and data to wider College staff to support event and curriculum planning. 16. Work to promote Equality and Diversity in all aspects of the role. 17. An understanding of marketing principles Experience of multi-tasking and working in a busy team environment Experience of organising and participating in large scale events Experience of presenting and public speaking to a range of different audiences Knowledge of post-16 and post-18 provision An understanding of safeguarding and a commitment to creating a safe learning environment An awareness of the importance of Equality and Diversity Advanced IT skills, including Microsoft Word, Powerpoint, Outlook and Excel Excellent communication skills (both written and oral) Ability to enthuse and inspire school-age audiences Ability to communicate with all levels of people Ability to self-motivate and influence others Excellent time management and organisation skills, including the ability to suggest improvement Desirable Marketing, Events, or Business related degree Chartered Institute of Marketing qualification Knowledge of the UCAS process Experience of working collaboratively with school stakeholders Experience of writing copy for print or web Design skills including Photoshop, MS Publisher, InDesign or other creative design package
