3 CONVENTION SPEAKERS STEVE RICHMAN National Spokesman & Customer Sales Trainer, Genworth Steve Richman is a national speaker who has energized, taught and motivated more than 100,000 professionals in every state in the US. After years of success as a litigation attorney, Steve entered the mortgage and real estate profession and has become an expert in the high LTV borrower market. He has been a loan officer, account executive and manager of a mortgage operation. He has spoken at several mortgage banker and broker association events and has presented before loan officers representing over 500 different lending institutions. Steve is currently employed by Genworth Mortgage Insurance as their National Spokesperson and Customer Sales Trainer. WILLIAM PHILLIPS Director of Training & Professional Development, Atlantic Bay Mortgage Group Prior to getting into the financial services industry William Phillips served as the Director of the Professional Skills Center. During his tenure there he developed and perfected his skills in delivering presentations, delivering training, and conducting needs analysis of organizations. His expertise in training extended to several areas of interest including but not limited to Customer Service, Leadership/Management, Sales, Time Management, Workplace Diversity, and Personality training. He has the skill and expertise, but more important the desire and passion to deliver effective skills based training to help individuals achieve their own personal goals. RAYMOND OWENS Economist, Federal Reserve Bank Raymond Owens has been on the Research staff at the Richmond Federal Reserve Bank since He currently serves as monetary policy advisor and senior economist. Ray focuses on analyzing national and regional economic conditions. In addition, he has published his research in economic policy and urban economics in leading academic journals. He has long supported transparent communication of Federal Reserve Bank activities and maintains close contact with the business community and public. JOHN HURLEY Sr. Bond Trader, Fannie Mae John Hurley has spent most of his 26+ years in the mortgage industry specializing in management of mortgage capital markets and secondary marketing functions for both small institutions and large as well as having served as chief lending officer with a community bank for 6 years. Since early 2011, he has been employed as an Analyst and Senior MBS Trader with Fannie Mae in their Washington, DC headquarters. Among other duties, his primary responsibility is the daily risk management of the large pipeline of commitments and whole loans that Fannie Mae receives from lenders across the U.S. each day. John s experience allows him to speak authoritatively on such industry topics as loan pricing, loan sales, loan securitization, MBS trading and pipeline risk management. ALAN CLARK Attorney, Williams Mullen Alan Clark is a partner in the Richmond office of Williams Mullen. Alan has over 20 years of experience focusing primarily in mortgage banking and consumer financial services, and advises both banks and non-bank lenders regarding legal and regulatory compliance issues. Alan has significant experience in residential mortgage lending and servicing, affiliated businesses, third-party vendor relationships, regulatory developments at the state and CFPB level, as well as licensing and examination matters. Alan is a graduate of the Marshall-Wythe School of Law at the College of William & Mary, and of the McIntire School of Commerce at the University of Virginia. TERRIE SUIT Executive Director, Virginia Association of Realtors Terrie L. Suit was appointed as CEO of the Virginia Association of REALTORS on September 23, Terrie s real estate career began in 1985 and quickly shifted into real estate lending by She continued in this field for two decades. In 1996, Terrie received a gubernatorial appointment to the Virginia Real Estate Board. Soon after, she was elected to the Virginia House of Delegates where she served the 81st District from 2000 to During her time as a Delegate, Terrie served as chair to the General Laws Committee, the Housing Sub-Committee and the Virginia Housing Commission. As a Delegate, Terrie was recognized by legislative peers and constituents as an expert on housing policy to include real estate licensure, common interest communities, landlord tenant issues, real estate finance, foreclosure and building and fair housing issues.
