4 Malmö Art Academy The Master s prgramme in Fine Arts at Malmö Art Academy is a tw-year prgramme in Fine Arts at Lund University. Fr admissin t the Master s prgramme, applicants must have a Bachelr f Fine Arts (3 years f study) r an equivalent qualificatin. Malmö Art Academy is hused in a frmer schl building in central Malmö. The beautifully renvated brick building with its twered annex cntains well-equipped wrkshps fr artwrk with wd, metal, plaster, plastic, clay, cncrete, phtgraphy, vide and cmputers. The building has large prject studis, a library and lecture rm as well as private studis fr the 65 students n the Fine Arts prgrammes. Students have access t their studis and mst f the wrkshps 24 hurs a day thrughut the year. The first year f study n the Master s prgramme cnsists f specialised individual studi wrk and taught seminars. In additin, a study trip is included. Students chse independently frm a range f artistic, theretical and technical curses, many f which are taught by internatinally recgnised artists. A variety f guest lectures and internatinal cllabratins is als n ffer in the prgramme. The secnd year f study is entirely devted t the degree prject (60 credits). The degree prject cmprises a paper and an individual exhibitin in the academy gallery, KHM. A student wh satisfies all the curse requirements and passes a final artistic prject and thesis will be awarded a degree f Master in Fine Arts in Visual Arts, 120 ECTS credits. The academy is internatinal in rientatin and each year visited by internatinally active artists. The internatinal prfile is an imprtant feature f the academy. It is facilitated by the clse prximity t Denmark and mainland Eurpe, as well as by student exchanges with art academies in ther cuntries. Malmö Art Academy als benefits frm the rich and internatinally rientated art life in the regin, which has many art galleries, museums and ther institutins. Guest lectures frm visiting artists and critics as well as varius frms f cllabrative prjects are cntinuusly ffered at the academy. A cntemprary prgramme in Fine Arts can interact with cultural, artistic and scientific currents in the fields f art histry and thery, architecture, philsphy, scilgy, psychlgy and many ther subjects. The affiliatin with Lund University is therefre a great advantage t Malmö Art Academy. Malmö Art Academy als ffers a Bachelr s prgramme in Fine Arts and a Master s prgramme in Critical and Pedaggical Studies. Admissin t the Master s prgramme in Critical and Pedaggical Studies takes place every ther year and the next rund f admissins is spring 2017 fr a start n the prgramme in the autumn semester f Admissin t the Master s prgrammes takes place later in the spring than fr the Bachelr s prgramme please see and the applicatin frm at fr mre infrmatin. 5 Admissin Each academic year a maximum f 15 students are admitted t the tw-year Master s prgramme in Fine Arts. All applicatins are reviewed cnfidentially by an admissins cmmittee cmpsed f supervising prfessrs f Fine Arts, senir lecturers, lecturers and student representatives. Shrtlisted applicants are called t interviews in the spring, usually in April. Fllwing the interviews, applicants are infrmed by mail whether they have been admitted t the prgramme r nt, r have been placed n a waiting list. The selectin is based n an assessment f samples f artistic wrk, persnal statements and interviews. The reasns behind the decisin f the cmmittee are nt cmmunicated and the decisin cannt be appealed. An example f an equivalent qualificatin is three years f study n a five-year Master s prgramme in which n Bachelr s degree is awarded. A certificate f a cmpleted Bachelr s degree in Fine Arts r the equivalent must be included in yur applicatin. Uplading f wrk samples in the Malmö Art Academy applicatin prtal Yu need t register in the Malmö Art Academy applicatin prtal in rder t uplad wrk samples: When yu have registered as an applicant yu will receive an including lgin infrmatin and a registratin number. Nte that this registratin number is different frm the ne yu received at Universityadmissins.se. In the yu receive there is a link t an electrnic applicatin frm in which yu fill in yur cmplete persnal details and attach dcumentatin in the frm f 5 8 samples f yur wrk. In additin, yu are welcme t submit 1 wrk sample in the riginal, in persn r by mail t Malmö Art

6 Academy. Remember t label yur riginal wrk sample with the registratin number yu received frm Malmö Art Academy applicatin prtal (in step 2) f yur applicatin. Please nte that we wish t see ne wrk sample in the riginal if yu are wrking with painting, drawing r phtgraphy; this is nt required fr ther techniques. The applicatin must als include a text with a presentatin f yur artistic rientatin, yur wrk samples (cntext, backgrund data r ideas, etc) and a statement f why yu are applying t the prgramme and t Malmö Art Academy. The applicatin must als include at least tw letters f recmmendatin frm teachers r tutrs frm previus art schls. The applicatin can als be accmpanied by ther relevant dcuments like letters f recmmendatin, texts related t yur artistic wrk etc. All supprting dcumentatin is t be scanned and upladed in the applicatin frm. NB! This des nt refer t the frmal grade transcripts, certificates, dcuments etc already upladed r sent t University Admissins in Östersund (see step 1).

7 Wrk samples Since Malmö Art Academy ffers an educatin in Fine Arts, there are n requirements as t what specific kinds f wrk samples can be submitted with the applicatin. Yu are free t chse which techniques t use fr demnstrating yur artistic ideas. Hwever, the fllwing instructins apply fr wrk samples: A. General instructins An applicatin must cntain 5 8 upladed wrk samples, in any technique, and a maximum f ne wrk which is sent r submitted in the riginal. Wrks in the riginal are handled accrding t a separate prcedure (please see belw under C and D). A cmpleted nline applicatin including wrk samples is t be upladed in the Malmö Art Academy applicatin prtal after registratin at Remember that all wrk samples must be well dcumented and accmpanied by a detailed descriptin. If yu submit paintings, drawings r phtgraphs ne f the wrk samples shuld be an riginal. All wrk samples need t be described in terms f a title, material, dimensins and year. B. Technical instructins fr digital wrk samples Each wrk sample can be dcumented with a maximum f 5 phtgraphs/vides/sund files. Accepted file frmats: Pictures JPG/JPEG Audi MP3 WAV AIFF Vide MOV MP4/MPEG4 AVI NB! Applicants are respnsible fr the prper functining f digital samples. General State title, material, dimensins, year and length (minutes) fr vide/sund. Installatins need t be dcumented as fully as pssible Vide Vide shuld be upladed as MOV, MP4 (MPEG4) r AVI. Largest size 2 GB per film, max 5Mbit/s If yu apply with vide wrks, the selectin cmmittee wants t see the whle wrk and nt just extracts. Fr lng vide wrks, we wuld appreciate if yu wuld attach a brief synpsis Digital images Must be submitted as JPG Largest recmmended size is 2 MB Sund Must be submitted as MP3, WAV r AIFF.

Instructins fr wrk samples in the riginal (n mre than ne piece) The riginal wrk sample must be labelled with the applicant s name, address, phne number and the registratin number f yur applicatin. NB! If a wrk sample in the riginal includes several separate parts all these parts must be labelled. Wrk samples in the riginal can be submitted by pst, persnally r thrugh a representative. If yu submit paintings, drawings r phtgraphs ne f the wrk samples shuld be an riginal. The riginal wrk sample must nt be larger than 100x150 cm. A rule f thumb fr three-dimensinal wrk samples is that they shuld be pssible t handle by ne persn. Phtgraphs shuld preferably nt be smaller than 18*24 cm. The riginal wrk sample must be munted, dry and nt sticky. It is advisable that yu insure the wrk samples yu submit. Lund University has n insurance cverage fr samples and des nt take any respnsibility fr the wrk samples submitted. D. Return f Wrk Samples If yu wish t have yur wrk samples returned t yu by pst yu must: 1. State this in yur applicatin. 2. Pack yur wrk sample in such a way that it is pssible t re-use the packaging fr the return. 3. Fr return within Sweden, yu are required t pay the pstage fee f SEK 125. Fr return t ther cuntries, yu are required t pay the pstage fee f SEK 400. If yu have a Swedish bank accunt, pay t Plusgir accunt , accunt hlder Lund University. Wrk samples that have nt been cllected in due time will be destryed if n ther written agreement has been made. If yu d nt wish t have yur wrk samples returned, please state in yur applicatin that yu apprve that they will be discarded. Wrk samples that have nt been cllected in due time will be discarded. Persnal Data Act (Swedish Cde f Statutes 1998:204) Pursuant t the Persnal Data Act (Swedish Cde f Statues 1998:204) and the Ordinance cncerning the Reprting f Higher Educatin Studies etc. (Swedish Cde f Statutes 1993:1153) applicatin dcuments will be managed in an autmated register. Wrap yur wrk sample well, but with reasnable amunts f tape and in packaging that can be re-used when returning it. Insure yur riginal wrk sample.
