1 Software Development Manager As the Software Development Manager you have a number of responsibilities, but the primary one is to get product out the door. Your goal is deliver results to the customers, and do everything necessary to achieve this. To do this you need to make sure the development team is able to work as efficiently as possible and this means making sure they have clear goals. You drive technical architecture and product decisions while balancing resources and schedule considerations. Job Title Software Development Manager Division/Department Audit Software Reason for Vacancy Replacement Reporting to: Direct: Chief Operating Officer Indirect: Product Development Manager Main Purpose of the Position The Development Manager: CaseWare and BackOffice Desktop is responsible for overseeing the development team and its deliverables; as well as retaining and recruiting top talent to the team. As one of the most senior technical leaders on the team, the person is expected to drive technical architecture, code quality and product decisions while balancing resources and schedule considerations. You need to be able to tell good code from bad, and be able to develop senior developers and architects. When crunch time comes you should be ready and able to dive in and take over some development tasks, but keep the big picture in mind and be focused on getting the project done. The successful candidate will work cross discipline with Product Management to make sure we have the right product roadmap, product requirements and product positioning. The person will also work with other leaders across CQS.

2 Key Deliverables and Weighting Lead the CQS CaseWare and BackOffice Desktop teams to deliver on key innovation and features Be accountable for technical vision, architecture and product quality Retain and recruit top development talent Identify and nurture leaders within the development team for career growth Work cross discipline with Product Management to define product vision and architectural runway Play a hands-on role and not just a delegating role Management Level and Details of the Management Component of this role Manager of customisation engineers (template developers) as well as technical developers (team of 10+ members) Technical Knowledge, Skills and Abilities 4+ years experience in senior development leader role, with proven ability to build and lead development teams Solid experience in Automated testing, test scripting and measuring test code coverage Proven ability to delegate successfully (following up and make sure things get done) Demonstrated ability to deliver on architecture and product Experience delivering on supporting and scaling distributed systems Code ninja and mentor to others Experience in release management and deployment Behavioural / Soft Competencies, Skills and Abilities Tenacious and resourceful problem solver with deep analytical and organisational skills Excellent communication and presentation skills, written and verbal Innovative and positive team player with a can do attitude Education and Qualification Essential requirements Desirable requirements Undergraduate Degree - B.Sc. Working hours 8:30 17:00 (flexibility is an option and can be discussed) What will make the incumbent successful in this role? The ability to find common ground for solutions and staying objective Building credibility and repertoire with both business and technical stakeholders Delivering projects to specifications and expectations The ability to focus on creating value for customers. Driving the team to focus on reducing issues related to installation, upgrade, integration, supportability and maintainability.
