Student Gvernment is a great way t becme invlved n campus and in the cmmunity. Yu can help shape schl plicies and prvide needed services t fellw students and the cmmunity. Students enrlled in at least 12 credit hurs this semester. Students must have a minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA at the time f their nminatin, unless there is n credit hur requirement fr the psitin. All Student Gvernment members upn winning their seat in Student Gvernment Electins will be expected, regardless f psitin, t: Attend all weekly SGA meetings n Thursdays at 12:30-1:30 in 128 HB. Attend any special SGA meetings as called by the SGA President. Hld a weekly ffice hur. The SGA ffice is lcated n the 2 nd flr f the Falcn Center next t Cnference Services. State Advisry Cuncil Representative: Will Elect 1 - Must have cmpleted 30 credit hurs at FSU. Will serve n the State Advisry Cuncil as the Fairmnt State University Representative. This representative will liaisn infrmatin abut FSU and the Student Gvernment t the Cuncil, discuss cmmn state wide issues, and vte n cmmn tpics. Nminate yurself (r have a friend nminate yu) during an upcming SGA meeting and cmplete a nminee frm and return it by due date. (Attached dcument). Each nminee has the ptin t (SGA Advisr) a picture f themselves and a shrt 200 wrd bigraphy/ statement as t why they want t run fr SGA t display fr electins. This will be the nly campaign infrmatin set up near/ n electin spts t benefit the vters in recgnizing candidates. All nminees must sign in cmpliance n the nminatin frm that they will immediately begin fllwing SGA plicies and prcedures. Failure t affirm will prevent candidates frm appearing n the ballt. When is the nminatin perid? January 20 th - February 27 th (Must be turned in by 4pm n Feb. 27 th ) When can I begin campaigning? Yu cannt campaign until yu have been fficially nminated and cmpleted a nminatin frm. (frm attached) When are electins? March 10 th -11 th All vting is cnducted nline n each student s FELIX accunt. Wh can vte? All students! Hwever, students may nly vte fr nminees wh wuld directly represent them. The nline vting system will set restrictins and nly permit students t vte fr whm they are eligible t vte. Ex 1: A Pierpnt student cannt vte fr an FSU nly psitin such as FSU Faculty Senate. N such ntices may be displayed n any internal r external walls, drs, windws r any ther surfaces including sidewalks and ther walkways. Materials fund incrrectly displayed will be remved by the Executive Officers, the Advisr and/r facilities directrs. Within residence halls, candidates must fllw residence hall visitatin plicies while campaigning and request permissin t hang campaign signs frm the Directr f Residence Life and Husing and/r the ARD f the building. Within residence halls, students may chse t pst campaign materials n their persnal drs and windws. Candidates must ask permissin f each student t pst materials upn their drs r windws. Nminees are permitted t hang ne banner in select lcatins n campus; hwever, each banner must be apprved fr cntent and display lcatin by the Student Gvernment Advisr. Banners in the Falcn Center track must be apprved and hung by the Directr f the Falcn Center. (One banner per executive ticket.) Banners are limited t n larger than 39 inches by 75inches, (6ft.3in. by 3ft.3in) This is the size f twin flat sheet. Banner must be riented hrizntally. Psters, signs, and public ntices r ther campaign materials f any type are nt permitted t be displayed n public prperty, which is nt intended fr public signage. Materials fund incrrectly displayed will be remved withut ntice. Candidates may nt create campaign websites linked t any FSU r Pierpnt websites. Students and candidates may nt campaign using mass t any part f the campus cmmunity. Students and candidates may nt bstruct r interfere with ther campaigns. Create a Facebk page and invite yur friends and ther students t vte fr yu, r create a Twitter tag. I.e: #bbby4senate. Handut swag r fd: Students in the past have had free ice-cream sundaes r ckies t students. Yu can rent a table in the Falcn Center Main Street fr free and campaign the days leading up t the electin. (Candy is ppular, t) Make memrable campaign psters. Successful campaigns in the past have been fueled frm interest in a funny campaign slgan r sign. Use Grumpy Cat t yur advantage than just traditinal psters (just remember t keep it apprpriate fr campus). Assemble an electin team! Yu may feel weird talking with students by yurself and asking them fr their vte s get yur best friends t help shulder yur awkward burden. Get t-shirts made and meet and greet students in frnt f the funtain r Falcn Center n a day(s) befre the electin. This will make yu mre visible and shw yu already have sme supprt; thers will be mre likely t fllw. Hey, by the way Remember what yu re signing up fr! SGA isn t yur typical campus club r rganizatin.
