Phase 1 Project Description 8.6 mile corridor from downtown to Culver City in West Los Angeles 1.3 miles shared with existing Metro Blue Line 11 stations, 2 shared with Blue Line 1,500 spaces at 3 park and ride lots 27,000 Daily Riders in 2020 30 min travel time from Downtown to Culver City Project Completion 2010 Estimated Cost $862 million

Urban Design and Public Art Urban Design Committee An Urban Design Committee, comprised of 14 members representing communities and stakeholders along the entire Expo alignment, was appointed by the Expo Board of Directors. The Committee has met for two years to provide input into the design, landscaping and art for the Expo Light Rail project. Public Art Program Metro formed art advisory panels, held workshops and issued a Call for Artists to over 3800 artists and organizations to develop art concepts for the stations. Eight station artists were selected and 75% of the artist contracts are being awarded to minorities and women

West End / Segment C Construction Overview The following work will take place from November 2008 through February 2009 within the Expo Right-of-Way from La Brea to Venice / Robertson. Work activities will include: Completion of reconstruction of National Bridge Construction of bridges and aerial stations at La Brea and La Cienega Excavation of the ROW for construction of light rail elements and track subgrade Pouring of west end abutment of South National Blvd Bridge Placement of girders for the east side of the South National Blvd Bridge
West End / Segment C La Brea and La Cienega Station Construction The following work is being done in preparation for the construction of the La Brea and La Cienega aerial stations: Install subsurface electrical vaults and associated conduit system Grading Area Build columns Begin falsework for aerial bridge Drilling of one of the piers for the La Brea aerial station
West End / Segment C Construction Timetable and Hours When: November 2008 through February 2009 Work Hours on EXPO ROW: Intermittent weekends as required: Where: Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Saturday, 9:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m. Sunday, 10:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m. La Brea Avenue to Venice / Robertson Boulevards Backfilling and compacting bridge abutment for the west side portion of the South National Bridge.
Traffic Advisories for Jefferson/National Blvd A temporary traffic detour and lane closure at Jefferson/National Blvd will take place between November 19 and December 17, from 9:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m., for the installation of LADWP electrical vaults and conduits.
Construction Activities Impact Mitigation Types of Mitigation Measures Thru traffic lanes are maintained during peak traffic hours Watering trucks are used regularly throughout the alignment If noise produced by construction activity exceeds allowable limits, sound blankets and other appropriate measures are implemented Advanced notification of traffic detours and delays will be provided Street sweepers are used regularly to clear debris from paved streets in the construction zone Water truck near La Brea Ave. Spraying of soil binder at Jefferson Blvd.
Construction Safety Education EXPO CONSTRUCTION SAFETY EDUCATION PROGRAM The purpose is to increase public awareness and promote safe practices around light rail construction sites. The program reaches out to students, parents and staff at schools along the alignment. Program includes the following: School-Based Presentations Participation at Community Events Distribution of Safety-Oriented Collateral Materials Construction crew (Flagger) at Exposition and Figueroa
Community Outreach A 24-hour hotline phone number has been set up for all construction inquiries and emergencies: (213) 922-EXPO (3976) Team will respond to all construction inquiries as soon as possible and no later than 48 hours. All emergencies will be addressed immediately. Construction notices are distributed throughout adjacent communities prior to the start of new construction activities. Community art mural project at Expo construction field office Regular project status meetings, elected briefings and stakeholder updates will continue to be held throughout construction and startup of the line.
