27 Sealed Corridor and Quiet Zones Quiet Zones Sealed Corridor Defined by the Train Horn Rule: 49 CFR 222 Only local authorities with jurisdiction over the roadway can apply (i.e. not the railroad) Permits engineer to not use train horn, does not forbid its use (e.g. emergent situations) Similar features to Sealed Corridor Applies to Grade Crossings only within Class 5 & 6 Track (80-110MPH), not the entire Right-of-Way, and may include: Exit Gates (Quad Gates) Traffic Separators Grade Separation Roadway Closure Conversion to one-way streets
