Our exhibitions & seminares Guest of Honour A highly acclaimed international designer or design studio is invited to create a lounge/installation in the entrance hall every year. In 2016 the assignment went to the British design studio Barber & Osgerby, known internationally for their innovative furniture, industrial design and architecture. Previous Guests of Honour include Patricia Urquiola, Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec, Ineke Hans, Nendo/Oki Sato and Arik Levy to name a few. Design Bar The 2016 Design Bar was designed by architect Andreas Martin-Löf in cooperation with award-winning chef Fredrik Eriksson. The Design Bar is a cross between an exhibition and a world-class restaurant and highlights the interplay between food and its surroundings. Greenhouse Greenhouse is a platform that offers unestablished designers the opportunity to get a glimpse of the design world and fulfil their dreams. Designers and design schools from all over the world are welcome to apply to participate. 32 independent designers and 31 design schools participated in 2016. Every year we also have the traveling exhibition Young Swedish Design (Ung Svensk Form) premiering in Greenhouse. Established For 2016 year s edition of the Fair we created a brand new arena for established designers and design studios named Established. The goal was to promote diversity in the industry and support designers own small-scale productions. Established is open to all interested design studios throughout the world. Trends Exhibition Swedish designer Emma Olbers, Finnish interior stylist Susanna Vento and Danish interior stylist Christine Rudolph were each invited to design their own space at our Trends Exhibition 2016/17: the Outdoors area, the Meeting Room and the Teatime & Playtime room. The theme of the exhibition was Nature is back for good which was reflected and interpreted in different ways by the designers. Aurora Nordic Architecture and Design Aurora consists of two parts, one exhibition focusing on architecture and one focusing on design. The exhibition takes a closer look at what makes Nordic design unique and presents examples of Swedish residential architecture. The name of the exhibition was borrowed from the Latin term Aurora Borealis, or Northern Lights. Editor s Choice For 2016 we introduced a new award Editors Choice. The award includes three categories: Rising Star, Best Stand and Best Product. The Jury consists of Editors-in-chief from some of Europe s most influential design forums. VISITORS Emma Olbers, Designer Trend Exhibition, Sweden Since the whole idea of the exhibition is to reflect current trends, I chose environmental awareness as a theme. Edward Barber and Jay Osgerby, Guests of Honor 2016, UK It s a special feeling to get to be here. Stockholm as a city and the Furniture & Light Fair hold a special place in our hearts. We like the size of the fair, it s manageable and we run into many companies you never see in Milan or Cologne. Ineke Hans, previous Guests of Honor, Netherlands All us designers and companies that meet up at Stockholm Furniture & Light Fair are one big, happy family. There s such a wonderfully relaxed and open atmosphere here in Sweden. Ruth and Daniel Aram, Furniture dealers, UK Here in Stockholm we get the chance to discover the smaller brands you never see at other trade shows. We re both great admirers of especially the classic Danish designers, but we find all Scandinavian design interesting. Vicente Porres and Adalberto Lonardi, Designers Established, Spain Established offers a huge opportunity for us to show our products and find manufacturers. We are still at the beginning of our careers and we are full of creativity and inventions. Andreas Engesvik, designer, Norway Visiting the fair is pure fun. I meet colleagues; we chat, eat and share our experiences. It s one of the highlights of the year.
