2 SHAPING THE DIGITAL LANDSCAPE Connecting Research and IT Join the largest gathering of Canadian campus IT leaders and advanced research computing experts and researchers next June as hosts CUCCIO, Compute Canada and the University of Alberta join two annual national conferences, Canadian Higher Education Information Technology (CANHEIT), under the direction of CUCCIO, and the High Performance Computing Symposium (HPCS), under the direction of Compute Canada. CANHEIT HPCS 2016 will offer a unique platform to explore the latest best practices, opportunities, and challenges in advanced research computing and IT in higher education. Participants and sponsors will be able to engage and connect with the full range of campus IT and HPC research communities to share insights into new tools, techniques and discoveries. Joint program sessions and networking events will offer multiple opportunities for knowledge-sharing and relationship-building throughout the course of the conference. Also, in alignment with the event s theme of Shaping the Digital Landscape, CANHEIT HPCS 2016 will foster discussions and thought leadership around ways to advance local, regional and national initiatives, strategies and vision for building a world-class digital infrastructure in support of teaching, learning, research and administration.

4 OUR HOST CITY AND VENUE City of Edmonton Edmonton is Alberta s capital city and the province s largest northernmost centre.
