2 THE MAIN EVENT For 18 years, the Active Club of Santa Rosa has held the Battle of the Brews fund-raiser. This event has raised nearly $1,000,000 dollars, the proceeds of which have been distributed by our Youth Benevolent Fund to help change the lives of needy children. What s in it for you? This year s event will have over 40 breweries and 20 different food vendors. It will feature live music by Love Fool. As this annual event draws an estimated 1,800 attendees each year, it represents a unique opportunity to advertise your business, products, and services to people in our community while at the same time helping to change the lives of underprivileged children in Sonoma County. Furthermore, as a recognized 501(c)(3) organization (IRS determination letter available upon request), getting your company s name, products and services in front of approximately 1,800 attendees may benefit you even more because sponsorship of our event can qualify as a taxdeductible charitable contribution. We can provide you with a receipt for the funds you contribute. You should also check with your tax advisor to see if your sponsorship qualifies as an advertising expense. Moreover, with our Corporate Partnership sponsorship, we can create a marketing partnership in which we offer a series of different marketing opportunities that will provide publicity for your organization throughout the year. 3 SPONSORSHIP LEVELS Event Sponsor.... $5, The Event Sponsor will be recognized as the premier sponsor of our event. They will be given signage at the entryway of the event, mention in the radio advertising leading up to the event, logo on sponsorship sign, which will be posted on the side of the stage at the event, and mention in the Thank You advertisement after the event. The Event Sponsor will receive 12 free tickets to the Main Event, 12 tickets to the Craft Cup and 'Wich Hunt premier tasting events, a link from our website directly to their company s home page, recognition on our website as a premier sponsor of the Active Club of Santa Rosa, and an invitation to join us as a shopper during our annual Active Children s Shopping Spree. Stage Sponsor $2, The Stage Sponsor will be recognized as a significant sponsor of our event. They will be given headline signage on the stage and at the event and mention in the Thank You advertisement after the event. CLUB SPONSORSHIP DETAILS Active Club of Santa Rosa Corporate Partner Corporate Partners will receive signage and recognition at all of the events put on by the Active Club of Santa Rosa, including but not limited to; Battle of the Brews, Red White & Boom, Suitcase Party, and Bosses Appreciation Night. Corporate Partners will also receive 10 tickets to Battle of the Brews, 10 entry tickets to Red, White, & Boom, a table at the Suitcase Party, two complimentary tickets to our annual Bosses Appreciation Night, two complimentary tickets to both our spring and fall installation dinners and an invitation to join us as a shopper during our annual Active Children s Shopping Spree. 5 CLUB HISTORY Active Club of Santa Rosa The Active Club of Santa Rosa was chartered on October 15, One of the first projects the Club took on was going door-to-door selling bonds to raise money to help build the Golden Gate Bridge. By 1935, the had already established a tradition with the Children's Christmas Party, as well as sponsoring Boy Scouts and athletic events for youth. The darkening clouds of war in Europe in 1940 brought about quite a change in No. 50. The Club held its first "Pots and Pans for Defense" drive in July 1941 (before Pearl Harbor). Many members were also putting on uniforms heading off to faraway places. During the war years, the Club held Scrap Drives, Bond Drives, Blood Drives, "Have A Serviceman To Your Home For The Holidays" programs, and helped set up roadside "Hitch a Ride" shelters in In 1944, the Club took on its biggest war project yet, a servicemen's canteen and recreation center, which within one year's time had some 68,000 servicemen as its guests. With the end of the war, the Club turned to fundraising projects for a new hospital, and "Air Marking" the town to aircraft. In 1948, along with the Santa Rosa Police Department, the Club placed signs at all school crossings in Santa Rosa. The Club also saw many of its members become community leaders. Charles DeMeo, the first non-founder initiate into the Club established himself as a leader with continued impact to today. Other prominent members include Robert Tutee, Judge Bryan Jamar, Dusty Destruel, Henry Mayo, Bill Knight, George Dutton and many others. The Club created the Youth Benevolent Fund in This fund is a repository for the Club's youth related fundraising profits, and it may only be used to benefit youth. The Club also founded the Miss Sonoma County pageant and ran that until 1988 when we passed the pageant on to the Redwood Empire Active Club. In 1990 and 1991, the Club sponsored and organized the ''Great Sonoma County Duck Race." For two years, these events were the primary fund-raisers for the Club's Youth Benevolent Fund. With net proceeds of approximately $100,000, the events were by far the most successful fund-raisers in Club history. More recently, the Club s main event has been the Battle of the Brews, which first started in To date, this event has generated over $1,000,000 for the Youth Benevolent Fund benefiting at-risk children across Sonoma County. With the funds raised through Battle of the Brews, we were able to make significant contributions, around $20,000 each year during it s first 3 years of existence, to Kid Street Theater, which is now a charter school known as Kid Street Learning Center and regarded as one of the best charter schools in the nation. We were able to commit to a $30,000 contribution to Children s Village in order to help build their library. We were able to fund the computer lab at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Santa Rosa, donate over $32,000 to Tomorrow s Leaders Today, and take over 600 underprivileged children shopping for their back to school clothing needs. The Objectives of Our Club To develop, by precept and example, a more intelligent, aggressive, and serviceable citizenship. To provide a practical means of forming enduring friendships, of rendering altruistic service, and of building better communities. The idea that Youth, to be served, must serve is a concept that is still unique even today and has provided a quality of life in our communities that has benefited thousands of individuals over many generations. These objectives embody our three paramount virtues: Faith, Hope, and Charity. 4
