3 Fitness Options SENIOR CENTER GYM Did you know that the Senior Center has a state-of-the-art fitness room that s free to registered participants? That s right! There are 2 treadmills, 2 recumbent bicycles, an elliptical trainer and a 6 station universal gym. Each participant will need to sign a waiver prior to exercise and obtain a gym badge. TAI CHI Learn all the movements of the ancient art of Chi Kung to improve your life. Classes are held on Wednesdays. The Advanced class meets from 9-10 a.m. The Intermediate class from a.m. The Beginner class from 11 a.m. 12 p.m. CHAIR EXERCISE CLASS This low-impact exercise class is a great way to build strength and improve flexibility without extreme joint stress. Classes are held on Mondays & Fridays from 10-10:30 a.m. & 11-11:30 a.m. Class instructed by Mildred Brooks. Dance, Dance & Dance Some More! LINE DANCING Intermediate: Mondays, 12:30-2:00 p.m. Beginners: Tuesdays 12:30-2:00 p.m. Advanced: Wednesdays and Fridays 12:30-2:00 p.m. ANTHUM JAZZ BAND DANCE The A.N.T.H.U.M. JAZZ Band performs every Thursday from 1:00-3:00 p.m. Dance to your favorite songs and enjoy our café style setup. Root beer floats $2. FREE admission Page 3

4 Computer Classes Computers are easy if you take the time to learn about them! You ll see how easy it is to obtain an account and communicate with family and friends. Classes are for 2 weeks and meet on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Cost $60 for residents, $75 for non-residents. 5 TOPICS OF INTEREST MEMBERSHIP Residents living inside the corporate city limits of Boynton Beach are not required to pay a yearly registration fee. Nonresidents living outside the city limits are required to pay a $40 annual fee. New registration starts October 1, Once registered, you will receive an ID badge that must be worn while utilizing the facility. BRIDGE CLASSES Want to learn how to play bridge? There are free classes. View the schedule for times and days. SENIOR SOCIAL HOUR Senior Social Hour is a great way to meet new friends! Come join us every Wednesday from 1:00-2:00 p.m. and play games like Rummikub and Mexican Train. KARAOKE Be a STAR and sing songs from the 40 s, 50 s, 60 s, 70 s, and 80 s. Come join this fun talented group on Fridays from 12:30-2:00 p.m. Free pizza served! Sponsored by: MAH JONG This four player game is played with a set of tiles based on Chinese characters and symbols. Mahjong is a game of skill, strategy and calculation. Beginners are welcome! Join us on Wednesdays & Thursdays at 12:30 p.m. FREE HEARING SCREENING second Tuesday of each month, 9:00 a.m. - 11:00 p.m. FREE MASSAGES by Dr. Jeffery Hoffman. Every Wednesday from 10:00-11:00 am. There is no charge for rides if you participate in the Congregate Meal Program (including the Boynton Beach Senior Center meal site). Before your first ride, you must register by calling the Mae Volen Transportation Office ( ). The call will take about 10 minutes. Be prepared to provide information about yourself such as your name, address, and phone number. Once you ve registered, you must call one working day in advance for your appointment before 3 p.m. The best time to call is between 8 a.m. and 12 p.m. The transportation fee is $3 one way, $6 round trip. Trips can be scheduled for grocery shopping, the mall, the bank or the library. Transportation can also be arranged to take you to your physician s office.
